What's going to happen to them in the winter, is what we need to be thinking and brainstorming solutions. Millions of children, elderly, disabled, veterans, etc...this is insane!!
The people who are voted into office to take care of these problems,is off to their Manson staying safe with their families, and don't give a shit about the average American people, come November, please when you are voting remember this moment in time,
IT IS ACTUALLY QUITE WELL THOUGHT OUT. SANITY AND LOGIC ARE IRRELEVANT. IT IS ALL PART OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT, THE GREEN DEAL, AND UNITED NATIONS AGENDA 21. TAKE AWAY YOUR GUNS AND YOUR RIGHTS, SCARE THE CRAP OUT OF EVERYONE, TURN EVERYONE AGAINST EACH OTHER, DESTROY THE PLANET WITH POLLUTION ECT, MAKE EVERYONE SICK , STUPID, DEFENSELESS, REMOVE GOD FROM THEM, RESORT TO CANNABILISM, IT'S ALREADY A SWEETENER IN MANY DRINKS ECT, ONE WORLD GOVERNMENT, RELIGION, MONEY, FORCED RFIDS, VACCINATIONS, PERVERSIONS OF EVERY SORT TO BE ACCEPTABLE. THAT IS WHAT ALL THE GOVERNMENTS, OR IN REALITY ALL THE CORPORATIONS ARE UP TO. ELIMINATE EVERYONE WHO CAN DEFEND THEMSELVES FIRST, VETS ECT. THEN GO AFTER THE SICK, OLD, KIDS, SHEEPLE, ECT. THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING.
you are right, even when people try to live like you the authorities come around and kick them out, I guess you have to have your own property and not too many people have that.
It seems like this is all designed for us to suffer. All these empty buildings and they want people to die in the streets. Crazy rent prices when the buildings have been paid for many times over.
I have to keep my RV inspected, registered, & insurance even though it doesn’t leave my property ever or I get a fine. The township checks on it every year.
In order for everyone to not pay rent, the government should just suspend mortgage payments, and other utilities bills. Instead putting all these weight on the landlord to bear.
Totally true. Alot of churches seem to have plenty of rooms for the illegal immigrants to stay but the homeless people are not finding the doors open to them 🤫🤔
During Hurricane Katrina many churches in Louisiana opened their doors to the homeless. The churches were trashed, doors torn off hinges, windows broken out, the list is huge. So when the next hurricane hit they were not so quick to open up. The crowds were bused to Texas and the churches there were trashed. Just saying that without a policed environment things go downhill fast.
@Cheri Merchant... Sacrificing immediate consumption?...Saving what you’ve rightfully earned?... creating a nest egg for future day?... What exactly do you mean by hoarding it?
I no so many people getting more from unemployment than they did working. some didn't even want to go back to work. now the big pay is over and those people didn't pay one cent of rent using the epidemic as an excuse to not pay anything. these people get what they get. be responsible with your money. the world doesn't stop moving just because of a pandemic
I have read your comments, but this has started. My neighbor across the street from me was evicted because in PA, the rent moritoriaum ended on 7/10/20 for non federally backed loans. The house that he was living in, was padlocked right in front of my eyes. It was pouring rain and he was standing there in his sweats with his coffee still in his hand trying to comprehend what was going on. The guy just padlocked the house and drove away. He tried to talk to the guy, but no deal. Ms. L. Churchill
@lovelyblkwoman Brown I don't know. I never saw him after that. They were not in the house that long, but I think that the property was under different circumstances, because it is through a 'housing' company that supplies temporary housing for people who have lost their homes through some type of natural disaster, that is what it used to be for. Nonetheless, it was very sobering to see something like that happen right in front of you, instead on 'TV." Reality is a SOB. Ms. L. Churchill
Herald. Did I say that most evicted people buy an iPhone? No. Please don't misquote me. But some people do. There are plenty of people who are poor that buy iPhones or cool shoes or expensive cars, but don't buy a home or stocks or get an education. Not every financially strapped single mother hooked up with a loser without using birth control, but a lot do. I am saying that EVERYONE should make good choices.
I feel empathy for those on the verge of eviction but I do wonder about the extra $2400 a month federal aid on top of unemployment benefits. I imagine you can put quite a bit into savings to pay future rent.
True. But a lot of people didn't qualify for that stimulus check because they either were on social security or other reasons. Now if they did get it, that's maybe two rent payments and the crisis has been on going for more than 4. And in a lot of states, unemployment websites crashed and many people couldn't receive payment. There are lots of reasons why many people couldn't weather the storm.
I'm homeless and I always got dirty looks and a lot of the well off thought it could never happen to them now that there becoming the new homeless they want help but never gave help maybe they'll know nobody cares about them what go's around comes around to the least expected.
A serious problem for everybody. No one is talking much about the landlords - there are many small-time landlords who still have to pay their bills, and maintain these homes. What about utilities, etc. if no one can afford rent?
If you were legally working you are getting unemployment insurance plus $600 per week plus $1200 stimulus so people should have paid their rent. If you didn't you deserve to be evicted. If you have lost your job get another one. Landlords have to pay their mortgages, utilities and taxes. You should not expect them to give you a free place to live. Because of rent moratoriums you are going to see fewer people invest in rental properties which is going to mean fewer rentals and even higher rents. Good luck with that.
A Clem LMAO! The $1200 stimulus was a one time payment AND that covers 1 month of rent in MOST places. $600 a week has to cover every expense including taking care of children which you clearly don’t take into consideration. If a persons rent is $1200, they have to lose 2 paychecks a month JUST TO RENT! “Just get another job” 🤣 Why bish? You have a job land where people can go get a job in a pandemic? This fucking pandemic has lasted so far 6 months and counting and you’re over there talking about “You should be able to pay all 6 months rent and all of your bills, household expenses, food, diapers etc for 2 whopping paychecks a month and a one time stimulus payment” GTFO pendejo!
I have a 94 Toyota, put money away for emergency and live in a good neighbourhood, my apartment is not fancy but i don't care if people around me are not impressed.. Most people brought this situation onto themselves by spending money rhey don't have and showing off to strangers without thinking of the question WHAT IF.?? the times we live in now is either you have money or you don't its that simple.. Rich will get richer by buying off your property while you live on the streets.. Shit will get bad by the end of the year..get ready for the shit strom.
It bothers me how people focus on people “not being able to save” which I believe is true in some cases but we have major issues with people living above their means and not saving like they could. I’ve been very poor and still saved money in fact I’m writing this from a studio apartment which was a sacrifice I made so that I could save money with the income I bring in. Not everyone who isn’t saving is a victim. In fact a lot of them are driving around nice cars and living in nice houses that they simply can’t afford. We need to empower poor people to save too not to spend everything they have. And I think that involves sometimes more tough love than telling people they’re victims.
I am tired of hearing people blaming the poor. working 3 jobs on minimum wage people are criticized for not saving. Wake up some people barely have enough to feed their family let alone save.
If you look at the numbers, the amount of people living above their means is minimal compared to others who make just enough to live, even after all the sacrifices, including living with roommates, biking instead of a car and meal prepping at home.
One minute you say they are driving around in nice cars & living in nice houses they simply can't afford. Poor people are not going to be able to get nice cars & live in nice houses they simply can't afford.
I lived in a studio apartment for 6 years before i saved enough to buy a 1 bedroom. Fortunately, the market was right for purchase. Timing is important too. Save and wait for the right time to buy. Never buy when the market is high. Though it is tough sometimes with a family. If you are low income, don't be prideful. Go to food pantries and save your money for rent, and utilities.
Do some research on the mess Section 8 has become. If we want to fix this problem all the government has to do is to raise the minimum income level for people needing assistance, streamline the process to get people the help they need, and give landlords guarentees to protect their properties from bad tenants. The real problem is income hasn't really gone up in a long time and inflation is killing lower income workers. That's the politicians fault.
Section 8 is the reason market rent is so high. Check your local voucher payment standard and you will find that rents are raised to meet the highest dollar amount that HUD is willing to pay so people who dont have the voucher struggle sad but rental caps should've been established
Denise Harris They need money to survive. With no money they will be evicted and without resources of any kind. There’s a difference between trusting God and doing nothing waiting on God to fix it
It wasn't all bank predatory lending. Although that's what it turned into. It was government regulations on non-discriminatory lending. To comply with government regulations the banks had to lend to black and hispanic households.
Love how media always highlight our disproportionate hardships, yet never counter with reparations as a solution. It's almost as if they're trolling us. Don't worry, Amerikkka, the last WILL be first...
Imagine they target the rent control tenants. And evict them. The new renter has to pay the increased amount each time around. And i guess that landlord gets out of the rent control lockdown
Not all of them. I am in debt because of my tenant does not pay rent and refused to move out, the utility bills piling up as well. The mortgage company does not give us break either, anything we have missed has to pay back in full.
Rocky s Mum You forgot to mention people trashing apartments and stealing appliances. I worked for a guy who waited until the people were all out of the apartment, then through out everything on the street and changed the locks.
The evictions, job loss, Covid, does not discriminate. It's all of us collectively. I'm seeing the beginning of foreclosures already. Prayers for everyone. I don't want to see anyone on the streets. This is just heartless what is happening to ppl. I'm sorry for everyone...no matter what race.
Nate Taylor See, this whole Dems this, Republicans that is a problem. Dems and Rep=Two wings on the same corrupt bird! You think they really go at each other and/or against each other? That’s just a charade they put on for us, the dumb masses. I guarantee when we see them on TV arguing and saying thing about each other, when the cameras stop rolling, they look at each other and say” That was good, now where are we going for lunch?” I can’t believe people still believe in this two party system. Smh
@John Connor I stand by my comment! Anyone who says 'people are being evicted because they can't pay = need to vote'.....they are saying 'vote Democrat for free rent'! Democrats are the only ones pushing the 'housing is a human right' message....but the implication is that hard working middle class landlords are going to be ones footing the bill.
What have these soon to be evicted renters been planning to do when the time comes for the landlords to evict them? I hope that the evicted renters have a vehicle to live in!
H G... Cancel rent? Then cancel workers pay too. Cancel all bills. Cancel all taxes while your at it. Everything is free now. Hey Mr. Homebuilder, I'd like to place my order now...One ready to move in house for free please. Because even people who are unable to pay are entitled to a house. But not before government bankrupts everyone but me first. Everyone who has savings or assets except mine, should have it confiscated and redistributed to others that didn't save and aren't as fortunate first. Typical train of thought, take from others to help the less fortunate, but don't take anything from me. Take it from someone else. Always from someone else. And of course I will define who it's OK to steal from. But rest assured, one thing you can absolutely count on is this...My definition of who it's OK to steal from will never include myself. Take an economics class or two. Then come back and comment. I can make two statements of fact about you, reguardless of any BS retort you attempt to make to the contrary...You have never studied economics. You don't own rental property, and you believe rental housing should be provided by others for free.
Good point. They will continue to pay rent. They may be pressured to help family or friends who will be evicted. This would be disastrous to put that stress on a senior citizen who is already terrified of covid19.
You would think with A lot Available Rentals..... Prices would go Down, But No..... Come on Ben Carson do your Magic. These Displaced People are going to get Angry & Civil Unrest will happen..... You think Kids will Return to School living out Of a Motel? I just hope the Trump Administration does not Do Portland Again...,
The new normal is expanded/ invasive surveillance programs to monitor and track citizens that want to push back against the largest (bipartisan approved) upward shift of wealth in history as they are forced out of their homes, not to mention those of us organizing and peacefully protesting against corruption, wealth inequity, systemic racism, and the ever expanding police state. It took over eight weeks with no money coming in for Unemployment to kick in but plan and post about a peaceful demonstration on social media and three government agencies and local PD will be notified in real time. ✌️ *I do not like Trump at all but I believe all high level politicians loyalty lies with the Banks, Corporations, and the MIC.
I am in debt because of my tenant does not pay rent and refused to move out, the utility bills piling up as well. The mortgage company does not give us a break either, anything we have missed has to pay back in full.
Ricky's Mom If it doesn't affect them, they rarely care. There are far more tenants than landlords. Who are the politicians going to screw? Especially since none of these politicians ever expect to miss a single paycheck.
Haven't you heard you should never borrow money to invest? There are so many things that could go wrong in a business and when you have the burden of a loan on your shoulders it limits your options. I trade forex for a living and if I would have borrowed money in the beginning I would have been screwed do to all the money I lost back then. Usually, cash buyers wait for investors who over leverage themselves by taking out loans to go belly up so they can grab these investments at a discount. It's the nature of the game, the market doesn't care about anyone.
I’m Currently working three jobs. my husband working and my two teen sons 18yr and 15 yr because saving and chipping in is a big one and I’m teaching my children now how the world works. I never received foodstamps or unemployment. But I have a rental property so I know how hard it is From both sides. Food, utilities, personal care products aren’t free. So My heart hurt for people who are honestly trying and for the vulnerable groups the elderly or disabled. How can they start over??? One stimulus check compared to the financial savings that most families have consumed with the long 3-4 month shutdown we experienced. And now on the street you go. Wow America ‼️ I’m just praying for All. The world we live in.
In addition apartments that are a piece of s*** charge sky-high rent landlord say it's the market rate but you don't even offer all those amenities or working toilet
If you are one of those alleged 20mil, go to the clises welfare office and applyed for one shot deal.at least this help you hold rent and help you find a second or another job.
Great idea! We must get local and state assistance too. It starts with our communities. Bartering work around rental properties in exchange for rent is another great option.
Why wouldnt Americans pay the rent by using unemployment benefit? With the extensive 600 per week benefit, ppl can receive equivalent income while they are at work, no?
Sad but there are plenty of sht jobs around, nursing homes, restaurants, fast food, Walmart, heb...I'm so glad I'm retired from a state job as of last year...look for state jobs...nothing is guaranteed, I feel for the folks that have been and still are working sht jobs
Maybe if we had a free market this wouldn't be happening, second of all Americans have been living beyond their means every adult has an obligation to save not spend what they dont have
It is what it IS, I have a regular job my friend collecting check from government. He makes more money not working then me. 600$ I don't want to work anymore I want to collect TO and stay home. Life is great. Greetings from Brooklyn
Im being evicted over 50 dollars my russian landlords told me friday at noon they will put all of my stuff in the street. Im scared and all by myself. I always pay the rent with pay pal and for the past 3 days they have shown up at my house demanding the money and yesterday they made me show them my pay pal balance which was 6 dollars and they wanted it. Their hostility towards me is so scary i cant even sleep im about to have a nervous breakdown all because of this covid-19 pandemic. I never thought this would happen
The stimulus needs to be targeted to low income populations. 1% and corporations and business should not qualify. Also, people on unemployment should get more.
People who get evicted from their apartments; or their homes but have a paycheck should negotiate with their landlords; and if negotiations don’t work out then they could become extremely frustrated; and commit murder against their landlords!
it's crazy, you and your family can build a home for 20k but since we don't work together we spend 30+ years paying 200k+ for housing. And you never own your home because of property taxes. we are being FUCKED, people
THE LANDLORDS SAVE A LOT OF MONEY TURN OF THE AMENITIES AND EVEN THAT THE RENTS ARE SUPER EXPENSIVE!!! WE NEED REAL LAW FOR US THE PEOPLE HOW NEED PAY ABUSIVE RENTS WITH OUT OF CONSIDERATIONS.
They start out the segment saying who has savings to weather the storm? Well when the storm goes on and definitely, no one has enough savings to weather the storm.
The government should come up with a solution to help the homeless and evicted people during the pandemic reach 20 millions hopefully they can get some kind of emergency help my prayers 🙏🙏🙏goes out to them

Because not everyone affected is a POC, you don’t want her to say that POC are most affected? Proportionally, they are more affected. That’s math. Not a political statement.
