Dan, you have fulfilled a lifelong dream of panning for gold, you have taught me more than I can explain. In 1963 I had a dream of going to Alaska after graduating High school in 1964. I had two friends who were with me on this and we even bought a 1951 Ford panel van for the trip. After graduation my two friends enlisted due to the Vietnam war, I tried to enlist but was deemed 1Y , obviously that stopped our trip. You have given me the knowledge of what we would have gone through and I so thank you for it.

Like it dan! My son and i went to the local flea Market yesterday and we struck out on mining supplies... but!, we did find us a miner loop! Anyway, he is 6 and im teaching him about gold prospecting, rock hounding, fossil digging, etc. And your videos are very helpful for ideas on educational things to do since im his school teacher for 1st grade! Ive been laid off since march and im a surveyor in wnc... and all your videos are awesome. I enjoy you, Pauley, jerry, two toes, alan Robertson, and jason at flower gold. All ya deserve a pat on the back, without yall im pretty sure id went off the deep end with losing job and stress of covid. Thank you dan.

Hey Dan! Ive been watching your videos for YEARS, always love them! I was thinking that all of us have heard you talk about gold often enough, how it forms, where, etc but when you do these gemstone videos, a lot of us know very little to nothing about that gemstone. It would be really cool if you could even just like 1 minute of the video dive into a really brief "this is what its made of, this is why its here" etc. As always, love the video

I said the same thing to my biking buddy a few years ago.Right after that we heard a growl behind us from the other side of the forest road from where the little bear came from.It took a couple miles to catch up to my buddy,lol.

I really like your videos. My intro to prospecting came when I lived in Honduras in the early 90's. I met an older man from California that brought a 4" dredge and hired me to drive him in my truck to the Guyape River in Olancho Honduras. Big nuggets there and we found opals and jade. Great experience that man taught me how to read a river.

brown bears are fun to watch and vice versa. one was watching me when i was gold panning in norther california. it kept looking into my gold pan over my shoulder, then looking at me with a "Well, did ya get anything?" look on it's face.. too fun.

I love agates. We have lake superior agates here which are beautiful! I like to pick up every piece and put smaller ones in jars for display. I've never seen your type of agates! Great video Dan!

I found a ton of that type of material, in a gravel road, the government lovingly crushed them all up from a quarry, into 1"-3" sizes. Great job! I also picked two pounds of agates last Thursday from the Oregon coast. Love you from down here!!

glad to see more of the interesting things near gold. when i pan i often encounter slick material. a gemologist helped me to separate what i had found. nice stuff just from riverbed sand and gold too.

Hi Dan, you mean amygdaloid when talking about almond shaped objects. It's the same in mycology when referering to amygdaloid spores. Also easier to remember the spelling when thinking of the amygdala in the brain. Thanks for sharing your knowledge of small scale prospecting and geology.

Wow! I never see agate in the actual host rock. Some of the vesicular basalt takes a really nice polish itself, sometimes called galaxy stone. Great video and beautiful claim. edited to add, you have a million subs now!!! congrats!!!

To be classified as an agate, it must be at least 50% or more chalcedony with self organized structure such as banding, eyes, tubes, dendritic inclusions and so on. Amygdaloidal (A-mig-Da-loid-al) is another basalt that agate forms just like vesicular basalt, those agate nodules would be what you explained as amygdaloidal agates, the amygdules of the basalt can varry with other minerals as well.

when I was younger ...(like 10 or 11) we lived in Prince George the roads were new and full of gravel .. and I would find at least 1 top grade agate every time I walked to school banded mossy agate .. one piece I swear to the universe it was a discarded piece of toffee but when I picked it up it was agate I sure wish I had those specimens some 40 years later I reckon I would be on easy street ..lol keep up the great content

This video is pretty much me in NC when I see a Limonite cube aka devils dice or Indian money out in my field right after you find the first one you start looking around and you will find a couple more around it and a half hour latter you have a pocket stuffed with a couple of dozen and a sore back and then remember what you came out to do in the first place.

Got to love seeing bears in woods. And so so bot use to see agates in the middle of a forrest being mined out. So diffrent here in California. Also for get baseball size here is a basketball agate...... but it came out in peices and was hollow..... perfect. Really should being you to California and take you to agate beach. It got its name because alot of agates wash up there. But it's kinda popular.
