High quality arc shots, and a good video on exactly how I feed rod and target the puddle is explained in detail at www.6061.com If anything isn't answered on the website, feel free to email me. Thanks, Aaron

Dude ive learned everything i know about aluminum gtaw from you. paid into the website probably close to 7 years ago? i have 2 different tigbuttons growing from syncrowave to dynasty machines. thanks for speaking my language, man. i owe a lot of my success to your channel.

Thanks for welding in real time. It really makes a difference for the untrained or new guy to realize things do not move at You Tube speed in real life. Machining too. Yeah I know it's to not put everyone to sleep so you can see a whole process etc... But there are different ways to edit and show the same result. You sir are a master of conveying information in a great way.

Didnt expect it to be that strong. Very impressive. When I have to do Tig aluminum, its always 6061. Even a small tack weld cracks immediately without touching it. Therefore i use your trick with the ''first a small dap of filler rod on one piece and than let it flow into the other piece''
@tridium-go6hw
@tridium-go6hw 26 дней назад
Great video! Yup, I was always taught that when you add the filler rod, the two alloys (filler and base metal) mix with each other in the weld pool and the dilution of the base metal prevents the hot shortness and cracking. So when you do a fusion weld (no filler) with the two different alloys, like your 6061 and 5052, it's the same principle.

I love that button! once I get a tig rig. That is the only thing I will use. I could see where it would come in really handy for building roll cages in the car. I have seen some very interesting maneuvers.

Moore good stuff eh? Thanks! I see lots of utility in joining those two-also the "super lap" technique is a really good one that would have taken me a year or three to work out on my own. I learned to (fusion) weld with O/A before I learned to arc weld and do like when a fillerless join can be utilized without undue compromise.

Thanks again Aaron for yet another tips and tricks video, I really appreciate it. It seems like your use of the welder's pulse mode was mainly for appearance reasons, to exaggerate the stacked dimes look, and not out of necessity, which is a valid reason for sure. I almost never use pulse, even for very thin sheet, and get as much or little heat as needed by using the pedal. Maybe I'm lazy, maybe I have trouble forcing my movements to match the welder's timing, and maybe I just don't understand when pulse preferred or necessary. Could you please do a video on how you make that decision and pick the timing? Thanks!

Hot 6061 has very low strength until it cools below 350°F. When the weld is cooling, it develops large tensile stress and typically fractures. Yes, preheat helps.

I find small end mill bits work pretty good for aluminum, but it definitely takes a steady trained hand, and I wouldn't recommend for someone with no experience or respect for tools lol

Aaron , Great video, I am planning on welding up a 6061 x 1/4 25 gal gas tank, I am wondering if I should weld the inside and outside of the tank or would I be over welding it and creating problems???? Thanks Pete
