More Barbadians are expected to benefit from Government's continued investment in Kensington Oval, amid efforts to establish it as a base for cricket worldwide.
That's according to Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley, who was among thousands of cricket lovers who turned out for last night's West Indies vs USA T20 World Cup match at the Mecca.
The Windies raced to victory in convincing fashion, in front of a packed crowd of locals and visitors.
During the match Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley stopped to speak with journalists as she made her way around the stadium.
A 25 million US dollar loan from the Africa Export-Import Bank was used to re-develop the Oval ahead of the World Cup, and the Prime Minister says the investment is intended to expand the eco-system of people who can benefit from cricket.
She is also hopeful Kensington Oval can be the first stadium to host an international match with both male and female players.
Barbados is set to host the World Cup final on Saturday, June 29.
