@@HeadphonesUK I’m a big Evangelion fan (even tho I haven’t seen the Rebuild films yet) Tho I’ve seen End of Evangelion tho (I think watching it multiple times was a bad idea)
When a Scooby Doo movie, a Michael Jackson music video and a Stephen King movie about vampire cat-people have less scary cat-creature designs compared to Cats. you know the special effects department failed and yes i knew you'd bring blobzilla up eventually. The makeup in the musical is way better because they are style-ized but look like humanoid cats, and also yeah...not even going into how they bastardized some of the characters like how they made Bustopher a walking fat joke or essentially just they made him James Corden with fur (seriously James as Bustopher looks like Mike Myers as the Cat in the Hat if the character gained weight). And the teddy bears basically look like if humans and Care Bears got Cronenberged together.
Agreed, especially considering Noseybonk wasn't suppose to be creepy and was an actual kids character. Blobby was more or less a parody of kids characters since he was designed to prank celebrities so Blobby was meant to be as horrifying and stupid looking as possible.
I know I already commented here but after watching this I know a lot of the ads are surpose to be creepy and scary and some were I couldn't help but feel weirdly nostalgic about some of them. Lastly about the sitcom of the abandon kid show characters all living together sounds oddly similar to a concept I'm making or at least part of that concept. Basically, a bunch of characters being parodys of existing kid show characters from the 90's or 00's and maybe even older become rouge, band together and course chaos where ever they go until eventually having to team up with the heroes to take down a much bigger threat than them.
I don't know if I would have put Mr Blobby on the list because he was more or less a parody of kids TV characters and as such was designed to be as horrifying and stupid looking as possible. Mr Blobby was created for the Gotcha segments in the second series of House Party in order to fuck with celebrities. Basically a celebrity would be duped into appearing on a fake kids TV show featuring Mr Blobby (they would never see the costume until recording starts, only the performer Barry Killerby), once the cameras start rolling Blobby would keep ruining takes by breaking things and then it gets revealed that Noel Edmonds was in the costume the whole time and hands the victim a Gotcha Oscar (I must point out Edmonds wasn't in the costume the whole time, Killerby was until the reveal). Then it's played on the show with the celebrities reactions to the footage. However Mr Blobby became too popular (with actual children no less) and pretty much took over the show (they obviously couldn't use Mr Blobby for anymore pranks), and in 1993 and 1994 the nation went Blobby mad and the shops were full of Blobby tat. Including the worst Christmas number 1 and 3 theme parks which failed, one of them remained abandoned for years and became a magnet for drug addicts to hold illegal raves. By the mid 90s Blobby and the House Party soon lost there appeal, a turning point came when Blobby threw a birthday girls cake on the floor and the father punched him in the face. There is an excellent video by Kim Justice on the history of Mr Blobby. On a side note one of my favourite facts is comedian Jack Whitehall is terrified of Mr Blobby and when he appeared on Big Fat Quiz of the 90s he wasn't told Mr Blobby would be making an appearance and when the pink bastard turned up you can see Jack shying away in fear.
1:16 Huggy Wuggy! (Fanboying noises) okay with that out of the way I thought the cherry ad and the girl opening her mouth like a Tasmanian Tiger was hilariously creepy.
oh god i know that music. grizzly tales for gruesome kids, that and blobby (even before having context for that pink costume creature) terrifies me! 8.10.23
