About cars being loud (and yes I know this video is over a year old, so what?): Generally speaking, people tend to think that anytime something has a motor, the louder it is the stronger it is. Examples include vacuums/hoovers, cars, motorcycles, washing machines, hairdryers etc. Certain things will go up to a specific point, beyond which people just find them annoying if they're louder than that. Car companies take advantage of this by intentionally designing louder cars. Historically speaking, louder cars have been more powerful, but nowadays we have the technology to be able to build completely silent cars (electric cars, anyone?) so the only reason loud cars are still being built is to satisfy the customer's association of loud => stronger => better. Most big companies of any type will have sound engineers on product development teams, whose job is to ensure specific types and qualities of sounds that any given part of a product makes meets certain criteria. Think: the sound of a revving engine; the sound of the door closing and locking; the sound of a ketchup bottle cap opening etc. Generally speaking, any "proprietary" noise that can be considered a part of "the experience" of using a product is carefully engineered.

The louder noise is just a result of having fewer restrictions in the pipes. Most guys don't do it to impress people, its mainly just for personal satisfaction
