I don't think anyone would label this type of update as inflammatory. You, being the positive pillar of the community, providing these types of new updates is exactly what we need. Your ability to keep it personal as well by incorporating your life changes is pleasant as well and makes them a joy to watch...even amongst the bad news. Well done!
Agreed. As an individual who doesn’t follow the keeb news that much, your videos has been perfect to know more our hobby. Warning people about GBs by adding your own experience and involvement as a person “losing money”, brings me confidence that we’re not alone. Keep up with this series, it has been great! Thanks for all your effort, I’m sure most of the community really appreciates it as well.
@@TaehaTypes Hey Taeha, I completely agree with what's being said here. As someone who originally was really deep into the hobby and now too busy to keep up with what's going on, I really appreciate these video updates. Being able to keep myself somewhat up to date with recent events, it helps me steer away from certain vendors and not funnel my money into these potential scammers while still being able to support greenlight vendors/creators and continue to be a part of this community . 👍👍👍
As someone who doesn’t regularly scroll Reddit, I appreciate your news updates as they help to keep me informed of just things happening in the community, good and bad. So I personally don’t see any issue with these videos. It’s almost like a monthly newsletter just in video form.
I think you're covering this in a pretty objective way! May feel awkward but I think talking about things like this are only good for the community in the long run! Thanks for the vids
We've been affected by both Project Keyboard and M&C's disappearance. PK dropped all comms for GMK Slasher which I volunteered to pick up and have back on track, and M&C with the Saevus Cor, resulting in us having to refund a substantial amount of money, and GMK Bordeaux, Terror, and Cinder were all left on the cutting room floor. I've since taken up those projects as lead vendor as well, however I am still waiting for GMK to provide an official statement before we see if there's anything we can do to help US customers. Vendor communication has already been a major issue over the last two years, and it's unfortunately not getting any better. It's very frustrating consistently being the ones to poke the lead vendor/designer to get an update or get projects moving. Fortunately, there are still plenty who are very passionate about what they're doing and that really does make everyone's lives easier.
Its pro-consumer to report on issues and concerns, no sense in keeping less involved members of the hobby in the dark. Also pro-hobby because you're covering meetups and other news! That's great!
I feel like your tone / delivery has been great!! The group buy / vendor news has felt more like PSAs than trying to stir up drama. Also mixing in other types of news stories validates that you’re not just trying to gain viewership exclusively by stoking the fire
Taeha, you are probably the reason why so many of us joined this hobby. Thank you for being objective. At a time where the kb community faces so many challenges, it is refreshing to hear objective opinions. Stay true brother. Keep up the good work❤
7:01 Keep doing what you're doing as there's no harm in documenting these issues in the hobby. Not everyone is active on Reddit or Discord so it's always worth it to cover these topics for extra reach. As Rmendis said previously, you are a pillar to the community. An OG. So there's nothing wrong in sharing your views about these things. So keep it up. On another note, your new place seems to have a generous amount of wall outlets.
Theres so many outlets and closet storage haha but not complaining! I do agree that not everyone is active on forums (myself included) which is what led me to start this in the first place (also as a way to keep me accountable to stay on top of the news) but just cant help that sometimes the exposure it gives adds more fuel. Might just be an internal feeling I need to get over given the hobby atmosphere right now
I think right now this exit scam rush is by far the most important thing happening in the hobby and needs to be communicated. I’m currently stuck with a few Noxary products unfulfilled and I feel this is the kind of situation that can really tear apart this community. Hopefully we have more positive news later but I’m so glad you’re using your platform to communicate these issues and concerns to others
Please keep doing these I actually didn't even hear the news about noxary or any of the other ones besides from project keyboards so I would have been in the dark completely if I didn't see this
The Rama product delays are so true, been waiting for around 2 years for the Kara Seq 2, seems like that will be getting shipped soon-ish but I won't be looking at their products again after I've received my order. I just feel sorry for the people who have pre-ordered their newer products as it seems like they will be waiting longer than I will be.
I wouldn’t say your adding to the drama, if anything I think your the perfect spokesperson to keep people in the loop and to clarify the risks with trusting your money to even the most prestigious of vendors and keyboard designers. Keep up the updates man!
The Coffeezilla of keyboards, no unnecessary information, lots of general updates about companies that you've had a relationship with in the past. As someone else said you're a pillar of the keyboard community, so your honesty about the topics is really informative and useful
I would hardly call companies taking peoples money and not even responding in some situations drama. You’re providing a valuable service. Don’t feel bad about it.
7:01 Even though there will be an amount of unfavorable people that will react negatively to all of this news, I still think that your coverage and your explanation of everything going on in the hobby is pretty valuable to someone like me who might not know everything that is going on in the hobby (good or bad), but can now know what to look out for. So I think that this will provide a lot more good to a lot more people, than providing something bad.
Time is moving fast, and I have less and less time to keep up with everything that happens in the community, so I am very greatfull for your monthly updates. Also imo you aren't adding fuel to the fire, because you publish the current information very imformative and not emotional, so its a very News based report, rather than hate. Keep up the great content!
Taeha, I haven’t been a member of the keeb hobby for long but it was very quickly clear that you are one of the pillars of the hobby. By no means do I believe the information you are providing is negative. You are simply providing an objective presentation of real world problems that the hobby is having to deal with, and that is frankly extremely helpfully to all members, especially those who are just getting started on the journey.
I love these videos. It helps keep people up to date without doing a heap of digging into the mess, and its nice to have a mostly impartial voice give the community an update with what's happening with the Group Buy Fiasco. Thank you Taeha!
Negative things have to be shared too, personally I don't have much patience to follow Reddit and forums but I appreciate the info as a potential buyer. I'm not that deep into keebs especially not GB's but been I have been burned before.
hoooooly I did not realize so many other vendors were scamming. I don't think you're adding fuel or drawing unnecessary attention though. We've already the effect with some GBs being extended or maybe even delayed, but I think its reasonable for people to be weary of the situation. I think there are still some vendors that are DEFINITELY trustworthy like Cannonkeys or Novelkeys (and I think its more than just them), but going forward I really hope vendors can start providing proof of payment to manus or even shipping updates after the manu ships them out. Maybe more confirmation of everything from manu side. I think for the hobby to grow there needs to be a reason to trust vendors running GBs, and I'm not even anti-GB for the most part.
Dude just got scammed! Never pay full price upfront and never fall for their scam when they ask you to pay everything. You know something is fishy if they start doing that. Dont neglect that those keys probably are made in some poor 3rd world country and they probably cost 10€ per set to make but charge you 100€ per set! Just a scam of a market hype!
u know what's odd.... I bailed on the noxary group buy back in 2021, I was... suspicious due to how long he was taking to get his noxary 280 going just one anodizing issue, delays, personal delays, custom boxes etc etc one delay after an another wah dunno just weird I'm glad ur reporting on this and calling it out, because... I rather know about it than not know about it it fun to watch these i think other people are kinda interested to
I hoping as well that mykeyboard can come out of this. I have two group buys with them already. I am no longer joining group buys that are longer than 6 months. For GMK I can always buy the extras even if it cost more it's no longer worth it to join long group buys, with the current climate can most of these companies even survive. Edit Good news I just heard one of the group buy I join is finally getting delivered looks like they were able to pay some of the vendors
@@MrBouncingDeath I only found out last month when I was wondering what was going on with one of the group buys I joined. I saw that other vendors were selling extras. It was only when I join discord channel I saw messages of people asking for refunds and updates on their orders. Keep eye on their discord channel
Damn. I'm in for the Bingsu and WoB with Project Keyboards, and I didn't realize they've been MIA. Sucks about Noxary. I was interested in their stuff and almost pulled the trigger on their clearance sales. Honestly, I think these videos are great for people like me who don't closely follow everything.
I appreciate the updates about vendor issues as I am not very active on Discord. So far, I have not had an issue with your presentation, and look forward to next month's video
This is not drama, very far from it. You’re reporting on things that actually affects consumers’ pockets. Drama would be about inconsequential or ineffectual information that very few people really care about. People need to know where their money is going and what’s happening to the projects they supported. Thank you for confirming what I thought was going on with Project Keyboard for a long time. I almost joined Project’s Bingsu R2 GB, and very glad I didn’t.
There's a lot of people like me who just can't really afford to partake in group buys, I've only joined one recently in the cycle7 and before that I got a epbt set that was extremely disappointing. You documenting the issues in the hobby will help a lot of people be cautious in the future imo
I don't think it is inflammatory nor is it igniting drama. You have been very factual with what has been said and it is good for people who do not have the time to keep abreast with the latest keyboard news. It helps us make more informed decisions on our purchases so please do keep the format.
I spent years looking for confirmation of PK pulling. I thought I was being paranoid the whole time because reddit was silent afaik. Nearly 3 years have passed, and I already accepted I’m not entitled to anything about a year ago. Sucks to see it being so prevalent and finally hitting press. This is both a relief knowing that I can move on but also leaves me bitter with little confidence in the process and of the hobby, and even worse with nothing else to offer to others but a good luck hedging your loss.
That sentiment at the 7 minute mark... I feel that. I don't think you're reporting it in such a way that's inflammatory, and someone needs to report on it, especially nowadays when we have a more aware community and more new folks entering the space all the time that need to know what to keep an eye out for.
I think your video is fine. If the hobby was all fine and dandy, that would be what you present. Unfortunately, it's a bit of doom and gloom right now. Reporting is just stating facts (as far as you know) and by showcasing the bad, along with the good, you will appear unbias... Which I'm guessing is your goal. Keep up the good work Taeha.
COVID really messed up perceptions of the outlook of the hobby (especially with newer businesses and vendors). Crazy unrealistic expectations of growth in the hobby that was going to stabilize and level at some point
Spoiler alert: The MX2A are absolute garbage. Nothing really changed except now they are incredibly overlubed and you find literal globs of lube in every switch. Theremingoat did a review on them already. It's a good read.
The whole Noxary situation is a little confusing to me considering that he normally posts updates once a month and gives very in depth insight to the behind the scenes, if not that it's just timeline updates. He is very coordinated, I'd like to imagine something weird happened, but I cannot say for sure considering the direction this hobby is going, yikes.
I think you've made the right choices here. This is a wonderful hobby with a great community, and we need to know what's happening. I just took a chance on my first group buy with a reputable vendor, and I would not have felt secure doing so if it weren't for you and other community members discussing the failing ends of this practice. You're not adding to the fire, you're helping to prevent otherwise unsuspecting new community members from making bad choices. You're staying impartial and optimistic overall, and clearly seperating your opinions from fact. Keep it up, you're doing a good job.
Keebhouse when? Great content Taeha! loving this. For someone like me its nice to have these to listen to since I am not able to be as active in scanning through forums and reddits.
Appreciate the algorithm that brought up your videos again. I had to look up if I had any orders with any of the problem vendors and looks like I'm affected. Trying my best to get it resolved with my credit card company but it's been almost 2 years since I gave the money for the group buy. Your video have influenced my decision on not going with group buys from this point forward. Going to go with in-stock items or very short turn-around times!
Please keep reporting news especially status updates and vendors who are in trouble. I have nobody in my life who keeps up with keyboard stuff, I have never been to a meetup, I just discovered keyboards this year (not keyboards but… you know what I mean! Lol) and I have literally no way of knowing any of this, the rumors do not reach me. It would even be good to know which vendors are doing well, so I can buy with confidence, rather than hoping the vendor I use who has not been named as a failing business is in fact going under, and I can decide whether to buy as a fully informed customer. Thanks for doing this!
Bro, talking about reality does NOT equal to kicking up drama. All the things you talked about actually happened. Maybe you can balance it out with some contrast to the losers ripping people off. There are runners that are delivering and they deserve the support and attention too.
A business not delivering on a product and going ghost is not drama, it is definitely news within this niche hobby. Drama is like, novelty art on clones, and those stupid gmmk color fade keycaps. If someone has hundreds of thousands of dollars in outstanding orders for well over a year across multiple products, I would definitely like to know about it. I think your presentation is very fair, unbiased, and makes no attempt to call people to action. So I think its good. If individuals decide to use that info to go be rude and bothersome that reflects on them, not you. Keep up the good work, I think it is very admirable that you decided to use your large platform for news segments like this rather than soaking up as many affiliate deals as possible and simply pushing products. It shows you care not just about boards but all your fellow hobbyists as well. Rant over thanks Taeha
This is not drama at all. This is reporting news that are relevant. I was able to file charge back with Mech & Co for 2 orders after I learn about their situation from your reporting. I also have the Bingsu R2 order unfilled from ProjectKeyboard so I will do the same charge back. Again this is useful and relevant to the health and longevity of the community. You mentioned that you have great relationships with some of these vendors but if you want to be a reporter and represent the custom keyboard community you must put your personal relationship aside and remain objective. Thank you for doing this and I hope you can continue with this series.
You have a pretty big platform. Your responsibility should be helping regular people, not maintaining friendships with businesses. It becomes drama when you do it for clout or for any other reason than informing people. Which currently you are not.
I think this is good format. Can't be bias if vendors not deliveryn. I mean, I haven't kept up with keeb space. So if i wanted to join a gb now I wanna know if it still "safe" and what vendor is trust worthy.
I think as long as you stick to the facts, you're reporting on news. As long as you don't insert your feelings or opinions, then you are not adding to the drama. I like these videos, please continue them. Perhaps, if you have worked with some people who you're also reporting the updates, you might be able to have a comment from them or some input regarding any statements they want to make. This way you're more like a journalist and are journaling the hobby.
People need to know, it's inevitable that drama will happened sometimes. But you always have been respectful so I don't think most common sense people will take in bad faith. Keep it up 👌🏻
Glad I got GMK Sumi from zFrontier during one the sales they were having. I almost got it from project keyboard, but besides the amount they are trying to get for it, I didn't understand why everyone else had it in stock at the time and not them.
Reporting issues isn't drama. They are bad businesses which consumers can ge trapped with losing money. You are putting out warnings to product the hobby.
In regards to the concern about being inflammatory when it comes to community drama, I don't think anyone who is reasonably discerning would see it that way as the presentation of these things has been done in a relatively neutral fashion. I have seen plenty of content creators that have been much more provocative in the manner in which they convey such news within their relative space. These videos feel much more like they are intended to inform than incite. Keep it up; I am enjoying them. (Shit, I even watched this knowing full well that I have the live-action One Piece to watch finally that just came out).
I really wish anyone covering keyboard news and reviews would take the time to understand that you can’t present a fair review of a keyboard from a company who is sponsoring you. I don’t think this is an issue for Taeha in terms of being dishonest, but it is an issue in terms of a misunderstanding of what reporting and reviews are vs sponsored content and then some other channels and influencers will not understand what being honest is in the face of sponsor money so it definitely is an issue for them.
You are not reporting drama, you are reporting news that happens to be dramatic as many issues are surfacing with the hobbies' explosive growth. Please keep reporting as it makes the community wiser as a whole.
I believe you're doing a great job as to "Hey, look at this you might have missed" that being happy news or sad news you're keeping an objective view on things and reporting them I don't believe adds to drama or anything of the sort. As you stated, I would have not known many of these things if not from this video. So thank you for taking the time and the responsibility to do so and feel of course free to let go when you feel the weight of it becoming too great or the conflict of relationships becoming something bothersome Huge hug to you and hope you can settle in your new place in no time
Please do report on all these vendors having issues. Not everyone in the hobby is frequenting reddit on a daily basis and some of this stuff would've flown under the radar otherwise. You're not shaming them or adding fuel to the fire, just pointing out the information available. It's up to those companies to then take control of the situation and get shit straight, and do right by their customers.
I hate to say it but the atmosphere surrounding our hobby is making me walk away from it entirely. I am expecting my zFrontier to arrive and with that it will probably be the last keyboard I build for a while. It was a gift for my wife and I want to see it through. But all of this drama is leaving a bad taste in my mouth. I hope it all gets sorted out and we can get back to what we enjoy about this hobby but it's going to take some work to get there. Thanks as always for your insights!
I think the key is trying to cover news from both sides. Unfortunately, this is hard to do when all you can say is, "I reached out but no response." But at least saying that is helpful to show you tried.
Want another change to get a Sonnet but a cheaper one like the Envoy. I have a 65 and I love it. Would like a 75% but I don't think I need another endgame version to get it. The sonnet was just too much money
Hey bro i dont really see this as covering drama. Its news and we need a way to get it. Ive been banned from r/mk because i didnt agree with the reddit boycott and the mods there claim i "advocated for their removal" lol So getting this news on youtube is prime. Keep it coming.
Just cover the facts. The fact is that these "companies" aren't legit companies that should have ever existed and people need to stop giving money to random sites.
this news is very important. people need to know. please continue these types of videos. you are the OG of this hobby, people listen to you and people need to hear what is going on. not everyone is on discord.
Happy to see the bauer lite finally getting closer but honestly at this point, its build and materials are still in 2021 budget boards, and now there are full aluminum boards selling for the same or less that more people are interested in, at this point, bauer lite is just too little too late :(
First thing first, this isn’t drama. Just facts, you bringing things to light. I really didn’t know about all this till you started making these videos. So you’re not causing anything. (IMO)
I appreciate these videos. I have yet to recieve my GMK Fuji from mykeyboard which I ordered in April 2021 and had no idea they were in financial trouble. Their response time was insanely long as well. I hope I won‘t lose that money 🥲
