I discored your channel just a few weeks ago and I love it. Clean and simple = my favorit style and I Iike that you take us all the way throug to the finished result.
Great fun, Chris! Learned so much, even the second time through. The double-sided adhesive sheets really make it easier to use gilding flakes. Beautiful results! From Cheryl in AZ
I really enjoy your videos, I love picking up techniques that I haven't seen before. Unlike other cardmakers you enable creativity with ideas rather than complete cards. I always feel inspired to run off to my craft room and try things.
Fantastic! I already have flakes (Autumn Leaves and red flakes) as well as tons of actual metal leaf...just received double sided adhesive sheets recently. Quick try tells me I can draw out Old English capital letters, cut out w/ exacto knife, place on an ordinary envelope, peel off, apply flakes--comes out w/ sharp, super clean edges and smoother overall finish than using gold sizing w/ a brush! Thanks for showing!
Thanks for taking us on your experimental ride. I usually spend a bunch of time Googling before I attempt any experiments. Bit of a coward, I guess. The gilded card is spectacular and I really love the multicolored gilding flakes but I'm resisting (for now).
Could listen to your voice all day, love the way, you show it as it is, not always perfect, but turns out lovely, and just like me, you will put things down ie dyecuts then guess where the have gone, ie somewhere here carol
So I saw gilding flakes in the craft store the other day and said to myself - you don't need those - so now I do. You are such a wonderful enabler Christine :) BTW my husband gave me one of his metal bowls that has a strong magnet in the bottom so that I can keep my dies that I am using safe from getting misplaced when I use them on my craft table. It is normally used to keep screws, nuts and bolts from getting lost - works beautifully with dies!
Thanks, sounds like you’re going to have fun PeggySue, I keep my dies that are in use on a magnetic sheet at the back of my desk. I still lose the ones that are on my mat though! 😁
Christine! I never would have invested in gilding flakes, thinking I'd never use them. Now, however....😍 Autumn is my favorite season, and between the red mix flakes and that beautiful tree embossing folder, WOW! Thank you for sharing your talents and creative ideas. C&S cards are my very favorite, thanks to you! 😊
I love how you make your cards real time. You make it look so easy and your videos are really enjoyable. You have a lovely presenting style and voice :-)
Lovely video Chrissie. Filling the gap whilst you are away. When you stuck the oval die on the card you said you were throwing away the oval shape. Surely not! Ovals are a lovely shape to use on cards, especially if it's embossed. I hardly throw anything away. (No wonder my craft room is so stuffed 😅). Can't wait to have you back from holiday with more videos. 🎉
If I kept everything, there wouldn't be room for me in my craft room and that would defeat the object of the exercise wouldn't it! I need you actually recycle more than I already do!😄😄😄
Christine, I always get excited when I see you have posted another video. I love gilding flakes and everything shiny (mica powders, embossing powder, metallic watercolors, etc). I was so happy last night when I was going through my dies and stencils to refresh my memory on what I have on hand, and I found a beech tree stencil very similar to what you used in your recent video. Thank you so much for more ideas on how to use what I already have.
Okay, I have gone from crow to full blown Raven! 😄 Just love this card Christine. Also, love you having "issues" of design as you go-along. Makes you just like the rest of us out here. Just gorgeous. thank you ❣We live on a mountain in WA state, USA. I LOVE our Ravens. Such amazingly smart birds. But, the Bald Eagle tops them all as they soar through our skies. As a wildlife artist, they thrill my inner soul to the deepest depths.
I loved the way you burnished the beautiful flakes with the wee sponge. I didn't purchase any because if the waste, then did buy one to experiment myself. Now, with the double sided adhesive I'll have no waste and no need to experiment. It dry embossed beautifully. Thanks for your video which has been so helpful, Christine. 🥰🇨🇦
Thank you so much Christine I really really enjoyed watching you creating this gorgeous and beautiful card. So fantastic and the leaves across, the front, is fabulous and the whole card is really really stunning too. That last panel you made, is also Fantastic and Fabulous, and I’m really really looking forward to seeing what you make with it. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags
How smart -- stick the die (metal) on to the sticky dots and then remove the metal! Keeps from handling the paper too much, especially the fine/delicate cuts. Like the card and using the flakes.
This looks amazing, they call that sponge a 'rubbit scrubbit'...I find mine most useful and as you say you don't need much gilding flakes....then a gentle rub so it does not go to powder too soon and lose the effect. Thank you Chris, great ideas....xx
Thank you so much for my lovely Valentine card and for all your fabulous comments! How did we message each other? I can't find anything of our conversations!
Now I have no excuse not to use gilding flakes that I’ve had in my stash for years, always hesitant because of the mess. Beautiful results in little effort. TFS! Can’t wait to use it with embossing folder too!
Thank you for the tip for saving and not making such a mess with the flakes. I have several pots of flakes but haven’t used them as the thought of them blowing everywhere stopped me 😬
I love gilding flakes, but had so much trouble using them I kind of put them aside. Thanks so much for sharing your techniques! My flakes are coming out of hiding!!!💕
@@Chrissieannie Yes only look at our photo the other day …. Yes I really struggled less is More ….. I did try though…. You are doing great with your you tubes ….Sx
Thank you for another beautiful card - your talent never seizes to amaze me! I must buy some gilding flakes and give this a try, I don’t have any, just a bunch of feathers 😂. Have a good day 🥰😊🥰
I love your clean and simple cards, I love what I call fevvers and sparkle and I tend to the more is more train of thought, I should just stop before the end sometimes
Now I have to look for one of those schooky pads, another brilliant idea. I had watched another video and they used their finger, it was very messy. Thanks again Christine. Jenny
Wonderful. What brilliant ideas you come up with and they always look great. I love the gilding flakes and the embossed panel. Simply stunning. Thank you for a wonderful video. - Dawn 🌅
I’ve got gilding flakes which I did not know what to do with but now I can play thanks to you. I am waiting for my tree stencil but will be trying out sentiments and things definitely. 😊
So this is how you use those? Since I have a cutting machine I will cut out my shapes, run them through my Xyron then rub on the flakes! Thank you for these videos!
Christine, thank you so much for this video.Your card, as always, is gorgeous. I have had six pots of beautiful gilding flakes ( because it is so hard to choose just one colour), a scoochy, a palette knife and a pot of embossing paste ( because I saw it demonstrated on embossing paste ) sitting in a bag on my shelf for over 8 years, because I was / am afraid of the embossing paste. Isn't that silly! However, after watching you tonight Christine, I am going to gild my way to the glitziest Christmas cards I have ever made and, as I have plenty of double sided sheets, I won't need to buy anything. Thank you again my friend. I will toddle off to bed soon in a very happy frame of mind. :) ♥
This is wonderful! I'm thrilled that you will be using the supplies that you have had for ages. Gilding flakes can be stunning and using them with adhesive sheets is SO easy. Your friends will be stunned by your Christmas creations. I have a video on embossing paste too! (With a recipe to make your own too) 🥰🥰🥰
@@Chrissieannie Thanks Christine, I'll look out your video on embossing paste and lose my fear. I was just going to say that then I wouldn't call the Queen my aunt...but I suppose I have to get used to not calling the King my uncle now! :)
The black foam pad you use to spread the flakes on with is the same as you use in fish tank filters and they sell big blocks here in Australian pet shops
Christine this is a gorgeous card! Thank you for sharing all this with us, now this looks manageable enough to do it. Maybe I'll buy some, even if l promise me not to buy anything else, art relative 😅
Hi. Yesterday's video was good and this one follows on perfectly. Your beautiful effects have made you some beautiful cards. Yay for the return of the gel press backgrounds! The scoochy thing you are using looks very much like the stuff that makes up the lower filter of my tumble dryer but I'd best not keep whipping that out for every use of the gilding flakes or I will be in trouble.🤣 Thanks for sharing another of your wonderful videos to bring sparkle and brilliance to my screen.
I really enjoy your videos and projects. Your commentary and the expressions you use remind me of my Mom who was from London, England. She came to Canada to marry my father whom she had met a year previous. Thanks for the memories. Keep yourself out of pickles if possible. lol 🇨🇦
You can turn the watch around on your wrist so that the crown points to your elbow instead of your wrist. Then in watch settings tell watch the new crown direction. You won’t have your hand misdirecting your camera then.
Good morning 😃. You’ve made another stunning card as per usual. I must say I’ve stayed away from gilding flakes because they were so messy but after seeing this technique and using the scoochy foam I may give it a go. Thank you for continuing to inspire me/us with your many talents.
Beautiful card, I’m going to try that and use the gilding flakes that I’ve had forever! Also, please could you tell me where you get your textured white card from, it’s the right texture I’ve been looking for,for ages !
I’ve never used gilding flakes before but after your videos I went and got some - so much fun! How are you going to use that embossing folder piece that is so beautiful? Can’t wait for your next video.
I bought the Micro Dots from Stix2 Anything. www.stix2.co.uk/product/micro-dots-sheet-140mm-x-100mm/ If you are in the US they are sold by Simon Says Stamp.
I tried googling scotches and skootchys etc but they didn’t come up. You don’t want to know what came up!! Can you tell me the manufactures? Love that shiny finish
Thank you so much for this. I loved all of it 👍🏻But you mentioned the card being a bit empty, so I wondered, would a very thin oval, around be of any help?🤔
I tried a few tiny tiny dots cut from the remnants of the sheet that I cut the leaves etc from, but didn't like that... I think a thin oval around the edges might be just the job! I'll try it!👍🏻
Love your cards, and now enjoying your videos. So much much inspiration and ideas to try. May I ask where you get your sticky dot sheets from, and also the sticky sheets you used for the flakes?
What a nice way to start a day - crafting with Christine! You commented that you thought the area around the oval of your card was somewhat bald. So, how would change that?
It depends which continent you live on! A Google search usually finds the things you need. If you can’t find them let me know where you are and I’ll take a look!
Hi, thanks for your reply. I think I have found the correct dots by Creative Expressions called Sticky Specks and I got them from Amazon the same day as ordering in the UK. I haven’t tried them yet, Carol
Beautiful card, I’m going to try that and use the gilding flakes that I’ve had forever! Also, please could you tell me where you get your textured white card from, it’s the right texture I’ve been looking for,for ages !
