My memories of the 90s have been a bit fuzzy, but from what I do remember, I have watched shows like the Pokemon anime, Scooby-Doo and The Powerpuff Girls, just to name a few, during my winter days.
Never had Dr. Pepper hot, but I do recall hearing that it was a hot drink about a decade before I was born! Gotta try it hot over a slice of lemon! Yum 😋
A few memorable snacks as a kid at my grandmothers... I remember my grandmother making a "poor man's" float for us many times...pouring Moxie, Pepsi, or Coke on ice cubes, and topping off with 1/3 or better whole milk...with emphasis on the Moxie over Pepsi or Coke. I thought it was great as a little kid, but sounds a bit brutal now lol. Moxie is STRONG soda. I haven't seen them in year's, and maybe it's where I live now, I don't know, I still remember eating "Hoodsie's" Ice Cream cups (half chocolate and half vanilla) with the little wooden spoons...in the winter (I know, I know, it's ice cream in the winter...) she would take a few out and either put them in a big sunny picture window, or right by an old cast iron furnace, you know with the whistle, and we would wait a few minutes until they got all creamy and melty...peel the cardboard top off and lick it clean first...mmmmmm. Some of you will laugh at this one. I'm not sure if she was trying to be really really nice, or she was just amusing herself and thought it would be funny, but I remember being really little and she would pour sweetened hot cocoa powder on a paper plate and give us plastic spoons lmao! We'd sit there and eat dry cocoa, coughing clouds of dust every once in a while, lol, and we thought it was great! A plate of chocolate sugar! One more...freshly falling/fallen powdered snow (we lived in the country) in a cereal bowl with fresh drizzled light amber Canadian maple syrup LOL! Mmmmm.
Oh there was definitely some snow being eaten by some of us here. Vanilla extract was a nice touch for that. 😆 Your grandmother’s little treats are humorous but also very memorable, and that is awesome. Thanks for sharing those memories.
Awesome, even more ways to survive winter! It really feel likes this winter is colder than last year. I'm actually doing a few of the activities mentioned now. Hot Chocolate, catching on my reading (magazines, cozy mysteries and Agatha Christie works), playing videogames, binge watching shows, and making comfort food. ❤
@@RetroDaze Thank you! I've always enjoyed stuff from yesteryear whether that bbe vintage electronics or Nostalgic snacks and shows from when i was a kid :3 also i love old nostalgic toys as well a great peak into the joys of previous years!
During the " eternal winter" of 1976-'77, stuck un a trailer out in the country ,I read my way through a small stack of " Star Trek Log" books, " The Lord of the Rings", " The Hobbit" and various science fiction short story collections....
Tbh the only magazines I looked at as a kid where Pokemon in American girl occasionally a 17 magazine when I was a teenager and I'll never turn down a Nat Geo
I (Tony G) still have yet to try hot Dr Pepper but I really want to. Dr Pepper is my favorite soda, and it’s something I’ve been curious about for quite some time. Never trying Ham Custard though. 🤮
