You may already know this but here is a tip that I’ll share. After you are through soaking and rinsing them, don’t pour that water down the drain, pour it in your woods or yard because the spores will be in that water and you may have some grow there next year.

Another approach…I had three mushrooms that were too dry and hard to eat, so I whirled them up in a blender with some water and poured that liquid outside my back door at the base of some shrubs that have mulch around them. Last year, nothing, but this year I found four mushrooms there in that spot!

You are so lucky to have those mushrooms I have been foraging since I was little with my grandma. 50 years later I only found a few morels , as a chef it is the most flavour mushroom , better than truffles. In France is so difficult to find any wild mushrooms as everybody goes foraging. Thanks for the videos. A Frenchman living in Scotland

We lived on a small farm, I would go out on April, 21st and went to the same place every year. I would find them every year, it was on a sunny side of a hill. I always left a couple for seed next year. The location was where a large Elm tree had fell and was rotting away. Now it is time for mushrooms and onions on a steak in your future.

This time of year, Dad would always say he found the most mushrooms by looking in his friend's truck. His friend had a quarter section farm with a large wooded area on it. Dad said his friend found them easily because he was color-blind, so they didn't mix with the undergrowth as much to him as they did for us. I spent lots of time searching for them in that woods as a kid, but never once found one even when I sat down on a log and just about kicked one in the process. I just bought some property with around 18 acres of woods, so maybe I might be able to find mushrooms now that I'm in my 40s :)

I take off work to go mushroom hunting too lol. Been my favorite thing to do since I was a kid. I own 55 acres in west central Illinois, and I leave all the mushrooms I find to get bigger as well. 3 years ago I let a large gray grow, started around 5 inches and when I picked it it was just shy of 11 inches tall, have the pics to prove it lol. Also, they start out as grays, and as they grow they turn yellow. Have had many arguments with people about that lol. Love all your videos and I was excited to see one about mushroom hunting. I'd like to see more videos as your season progresses. Ours is just kinda starting here. Thanks for the content and God bless!

I wonder how many people will be inspired to become mushroom hunters after this video. I guess the hunt is the exciting part of this whole exercise. Personally I would dig out the whole plant replant in my own woods so I wouldn’t have to stray too far from home to gather them.

When I lived in Idaho some 40 years ago, we would go up the mountain in the spring to just where the snow had melted and hunt there. Every few day, we could go up a little higher and search a different area. Idaho was also the place to find wild asparagus growing in the ditches along the road. Just take a drive in the country, keeping a look out, and stop whenever you spied some.
