it's not so much about the dirt and having to clean them up, what you're doing by cutting them off at the stem is assuring their regrowth in a couple of weeks by not just grabbing them and pulling out the entire root system!
Sweet, very nicely done. I've always wanted to get a haul like that. Most I've ever got in a day is around 10 pounds. I'm new to this fire morel picking and have been picking on a couple fires close to the lower mainland this year. 5 pounds was my best day and a couple pounds is average for going out in the evening after work. I have a few days off next week so would like to head out to the elephant hill or one of the others to check in out. You said you figured it out after the second day, but didn't say if there was a special key. I'll private message you something. Maybe someday could even do a collaborative video! Good work!
