only yesterday, I finished reading the psychology of money a second time. among many takeaways, playing the game of odds, not certainty is one I found the most useful. never occurred in my mind that life is so much of a surprise (good and bad) which we could see only in hindsight. enjoyed the conversation between morgan and ryan.

One the key takeaways of this conversation is: "It's an unique form of poverty when you have no control over your schedule" from Morgan Housel.
@oscareduardoramosacevedo5810
what a conversation!!! I am reading Housel's book, by far It is a great book, it embraces the best of any financial book and the stories he shares are fantastical. I am so happy with it by now. I also enjoyed the conversation theses titans had and grateful you guys share that knowledge with the world. Blessing for both

I think the ultimate value of having enough money is the ability to spend the remaining days of your life however you want.

It's been a wonderful and honest conversation. But, at times it feels as if Morgan is the interviewer and not Ryan. I think Ryan should listen more and talk less when he has a guest. Nevertheless, it was a fascinating episode.

Ακρασία (also spelled "acrasia" or "acrya") is a Greek word that refers to the lack of self-control or weakness of will. It is the state of acting against one's better judgment, driven by impulses or desires rather than rational decision-making. In philosophy, Ακρασία is often discussed in relation to moral or ethical decision-making, and it is considered a problem for theories of rationality and free will. Some philosophers have argued that true moral responsibility requires the ability to act on one's better judgment, and that Ακρασία is therefore incompatible with moral responsibility

You'll watch an entire Netflix show even when the first episodes are slow and boring just because someone told you "it gets better." *But what if you looked at your goals like that and watched your life get better instead?*

Can we please replace the word happiness for peace. Inner peace creates outer peace. The issue is that we chase happiness and not peace. Lets all chase peace for all of us. We need a world where we have enough for everyone

Investment is your only way up to financial freedom. financial growth happens with a steady engagement in financial stability through solid investment. those who leave it to market dynamics to determine when to trade or not are either new to the Market or are probably just naïve. The market has seen far worse times than this, enlightened traders are taking advantage of the dip and pumping even more towards trading sessions

I don’t think you all realize how out of touch some of this material sounds. I don’t think you all realize some people are out here genuinely just trying to get a break & pay their bills & have a lil savings. Trying their hardest to little avail. And you have the gall to say money won’t improve your life

Just crazy. I think these people either forget or just never knew what it's like to struggle to pay a rent bill or figure out how much you can spend on food or if you'll need to skip some meals. 🙄

They said money doesn't make you happier. They didn't say someone making small amounts of money shouldn't work harder for more money, they are saying at some point you get diminishing returns on making increased amounts of money. This is an episode about money, not the lack of it

Money absolutely makes you happy. It gives you financial freedom or independence, which grants you Time- most valuable recourse. You can leave a Rat Race and spend it on doing only what you love to do. It’s so simple it doesn’t need an hour podcast

I think you are miles off here & that's coming from someone who HAS had no money, no savings & slept rough on an empty-belly more than once Two people who don't have, currently, impending financial woes have A Perspective on what roles Money has on Happiness (or doesn't Have) - that's fine. It's their take & one shouldn't be offended or take umbridge simply cause your milage-varies.

Morgan Housel is one of these guys (the other being Ramit sethi) who has absolutely no insight whatsoever, and yet keeps being invited to speak and paid a bunch of money to waste people's time blabbing about things people already know.

@YSFmemories

@@enscebose8466 Like I said; he offers nothing of value. Other than him and Ramit Sethi, I ALWAYS have something to take away from pretty much every podcast guest on virtually any podcast, from Lex Fridman to Tom Bilyeu to Tim Ferriss... What is there to take away from this guy that isn't common sense to anyone older than 10? What actionable piece of advice did he give for people to achieve their goals or find their life purpose? Literally nothing.
