I make functional pottery using tinted stoneware slips. My work references 17th century Staffordshire slipware, Turkish Ebru patterns, Venetian marbled papers and French agateware. Each piece I make is a record of my gesture and the material's innate flow. Please enjoy my mesmerizing process.

It would be interesting to see how you apply your base coat of slip to get the even surface. Mop brush, squirt bottle on banding wheel or some other creative way you developed?

This is great! I've been wanting to do this type of work with my students, but wonder about the firing schedule with such a lot of slip. How do you fire your work and keep the slip from cracking off? Thanks so much for sharing.

do you have any tips or tricks for getting your plates into a mold once they've dried?

I wish the process videos were slower so that we could appreciate the strokes that go into creating the effects of the final result. It is much too fast for the viewer to fully appreciate and also the speed makes one dizzy. A shame.

You can change the speed using the gear wheel in the upper right corner. I find this makes the music too annoying so I simply turn the sound off also.
