This song is obviously great. But the best part for me is that it doesn't just hit the people who have been left. I was in the place of the girl in this song. I loved someone that couldn't follow me, and I wanted stay and be with her so bad, but we both knew I had to leave. This song still gets me despite being on the other side of it, probably because of knowing how she must have felt (which was exactly how I did). *Edit* Forgot about this comment, but I reconnected with her and some old classmates. Me and her will never be like we were, but I'm relieved that she's doing great and might even go back to school.

I loved this song before I knew who Morgan Wallen was. And now that I know who he is I love him even more! This is one of my favorite song by him. Listening to it just makes my day!

This song reminds me of my first "real love". We were young when we met and started dating, I was 13 and he was 15 (we were each others first everything and loved the hell out of each other).During our entire relationship he would always play guitar and sing me songs over the phone and when we would hang out all the time he did the same. I LOVED it. and he always said "I'm going to be a rockstar, of course most people said "Ok whatever" or "yeah right". so.. We were together from then up until I was 16 or 17 and he was 18 or 19. We split up because one day when I got home from school and I would call him as soon as I walked in the door (on the house phone because cell phones werent super popular yet) and he said he needed to talk to me about something and I could tell he was serious. He told me that he was putting his dream of being a "rockstar" on hold. and tells me he joined the army and my heart shattered, he didnt even talk to me about it.. After he was medically discharged from the army for an injury. He started to pursue his dream of a music career... He is now a Nashville recording artist. We still keep in touch and love each other to death. We never split up because we didn't love each other or anything like that. Cause we very much did and still have a place in each others hearts. We've talked about "what if's" and "maybe we should try". But I just can't leave my life in our my hometown... It's home.. and He lives in Nashville.. I'm so proud of him for never giving up on his dreams. So happy for you living your dream as a signed Nashville "rockstar" ;)

I like to think that after the character made his peace, years down the line he regretted it and he went chasing after her and “Chasing you” is that story of his journey to try and find her. Like like to trying more than my hometown is the prequel and 7 summers is the sad conclusion to the trilogy. A journey where a man pretends to himself that he’s made peace with his love leaving him and their hometown. Then years down the line he regretted it and went to search for her. Only to come full circle and come to make peace with it for real this time 7 summer later.
