Moriah is one of my favorite people on this planet. I went to a concert she put on a month and a half ago, and her songs truly moved me to tears. This song was one that impacted me deeply. I have a boyfriend, and I truly believe that God made him for me. He is always talking about God and Christianity and faith. And he is literally my kind of perfect in every way. It's almost scary how accurate he is to my preferences, haha. Curly brown hair, loves to sing(even if he's not the best singer ever :P), nerdy, has glasses(I find that really attractive.), Christian(obviously. :P That was pretty much my number one priority.), he's super sweet... plus he's taller than me(if only slightly.) and can be pretty romantic when he wants to be. Honestly, we haven't kissed, or even held hands yet. And well, I am kinda wanting to. I am a huge romantic, and I've dreamed about these things many a time. I don't know if I myself could do what Moriah did, but I love that she did it. God bless.

Yep I stayed pure till my wedding day was 28 years old when I got married and stayed pure and yet my marriage still ended and went kaput!!! I put God at the centre and the marriage still ended sadly. I tried marriage and didn't think it was all that, a lot of disappointment and hurt. I am still a Christian but if I got married again I would live in separate houses and wouldn't live with the husband.
I'm gonna save my first real kiss for the man a marry if God gives me a man to marry. and I plan on courting to marry not give bits and pieces of my heart to guys that God doesn't want me to be with

hello! yes, her husband is like super handsome, and older than her, if she started dating when she was 17, it makes it even more honorable, what man would wait three years for a kiss when he is 26?
She wants to be admired? Give advice? I doubt she would have stayed celibate in her 30's and older in this 'day of age', if she did not have an attractive man (to her) court her! She does not have life experience to know what it means to say "single & celibate". She got chased by a man, 9 to 10 years older than her, and she is generalizing " good advice" to women to what age?? There are many ladies who never get accepted, courted, etc in their life with a wholesome family or man, and receiving the 'short end of the stick' with no godly attractive men. I don't admire a lady so young like her. I was her age one time and said the same thing. Now I'm in my 40's and with health issues for many years, not to mention during my formative years also (no family) and she is telling this to older ladies than herself, who have been Christian longer than her?? It is good for the teenagers, but not for the true adults!
It is true that she started dating/courting and married remarkably young. Nonetheless, what she said remains valid. Her sister in law Rebecca st James advocates for the same thing and she got married in her thirties. I don't think that it is so much about circumstances but rather about a resolute heart set on pursuing and honouring Christ despite the circumstances. Your hurt is real and I respect that your experience has been far from being fairy-tale like. However, I should say that the fact the the Lord can glorify His name through stories like Moriah's as well as stories like your own is precisely what makes the Christian faith so incredibly amazing. Young Christian girls/women need stories like that of Moriah and Joel's. Parents in today's Church need to be encouraged by such stories in order to spur on their daughters (and sons too for that matter) to be chaste physically and mentally in this heavily sexualised era. You might not have such a story yourself but you might have nieces and younger girlfriends whom you might cheer on in their desire to remain pure. Be encouraged!
Joanne, she is valid only for girls up to the age she consummated her marriage. Who knows what her life would have turned out to be waiting into her 20's, 30's or even into 40's. I and surely many others give much more MERIT to people who have to be single and celibate into middle years or older, not a person who barely lived long to lose it.
I get your point and yes, many would agree that women that have had to wait for much longer and who held onto purity despite the wait have greater merit. However, I do not think that you should be speculating thus about what we will never know. You may be right in saying that she might not have stayed true to her convictions had she had to wait many more years. In like manner, one might rightfully point to the very fact that she did hold on to her convictions for three years despite being in a relationship with an attractive man much older than herself (looking down the page, Sofia Gabriela Muñoz Roche said something like that). This might suggest that she would have held on to her convictions even if she had to wait. We cannot really know one or the other for sure. I strongly believe that whether one has to wait for a short while or for much longer, it is still only by the grace of God that we can stand. Yes, time has a way of putting the woman who waits in purity on a pedestal but still it is God's grace. All the merit that one may be praised for always stands against a backdrop of God's grace, at least for us Christians. I am in my mid-twenties and I have never courted/dated but I still find Moriah's story encouraging. Along the lines of what I wrote previously, the beauty of of our Christian faith is that whatever the story, God is willing and able to glorify His name through each and every story whether it be fairy-tale-like or one marked with scars and heartache. As Christians, we can rejoice in the testimony of every child of God's not because of anybody's merit but rather because of the One who authors each of His children's journey. Thanks for reading.
Joanne, NOTHING is GUARANTEED! I know a lady is who 47 years-old and a VIRGIN and has been Christian all her life almost. Waiting does not guarantee anything! There are times God says "no" and males are not ''men'' they are boys! Boys are everywhere and men are few! I doubt Mariah would have anything much to say to a lady I know who is 47 and still single and a virgin to console her suffrage through the decades! Who do you think people would give more merit to in advice, a 16-year-old or a 47-year-old? She is good for the teen bops but very little for people, male or female who are fear of commitment and look at porn and stay unmarried and pure. When you hit your 30th birthday and still not wed, then hit your mid 30's and still not wed, which is VERY COMMON, then come and tell me how you take her advice! Until then, I and surely others will still stick to our own right in our opinion!
