Moriarty's biggest claim to fame is that it's a Route 66 town. A few old places are still in business along with some new ones (I think a new Quality Inn recently opened) But it hasn't changed a great deal since I-40 bypassed it. It reminds me of growing up in the 1960s. Ok for retirees if you don't have a lot of activity or am willing to drive 27 miles to Albuquerque. Me I love sleepy towns like this as I live in one. I'm sure vintage car clubs love cruising it (what was old 66 can still be driven to Albuquerque)
My car broke down in Moriarity. My daughters and I wanted on the freeway for 8 hours for help. We ended up stuck in that town for a week. It has some nice people but I wouldn’t want to call it home.
