The jelly inside Aloe Vera is a natural source of rooting hormone if you don't wanna bother looking for it at the store. Just slice it open and rub the jelly onto the stem where you have previously scrapped the nodes.

Aloe vera gel also removes carcinoma and liver spots on your skin, not the clear part of the gel but the yellow stuff that comes out first. It has beneficial enzymes that clears the skin of these issues.

Hi, There is an old saying in Tamil language that "Murungaya vechavan verum kaiyya povan" ( The one plants moringa tree will go empty handed) and it actually means that, The one who plants the moringa tree in their house and then consumes the leaves cooked, Drumstick cooked, will never needs a walking stick. He / she can walk freely with no support in his/ her later ages. And it is. The power of moringa Tree.

I am surprised that you don't eat the tender seed pods of the moringa. They are delicious - a real delicacy in India. Also their flowers are cooked and eaten . The moringa seed pods are called drumsticks and they are lightly peeled and cut into three inch pieces and cooked in lentil curries or daals. When cooked, they flavour the whole daal and you can split them open and suck out the delicious flesh and seed pods while discarding the hard skin. Much like sucking the tender ccentres of artichokes leaves. Only much tastier. .

i planted moringa cuttings about two weeks ago in so cal, they already have new growth. i find that bigger cuttings work better, my theory is that they have more moisture and energy so they root better.

Hi, this is Annie from Malaysia where Moringga is grown EVERY WHERE, sorry to make you envious. You don't need rooting powder, just cut a branc, about 2 feet in length and stick it in a hole with good fertile soil and it will grow. Even if you stick it in non fertile soil, it will still grow. We never pamper the cuttings. There are quite a few varieties of Moringa.

I would recommend lubing the bottom of the cutting with fresh cowdung(not the manure from it), digging a slender hole in the ground filling it with fresh cowdung and finally pushing vertically and gently the lubed part of the bottom of the cutting into the lubed hole. Fresh cowdung acts as a moisturizer and rooting agent for all cuttings, no fancy rooting hormones are required.

That's how we plant moringa here in the Philippines. We ask a neighbor for a mature branch and just stick it on the ground ang in less than 2 weeks, little leaves will sprout usually on the branch nodes.

I was a vegan/vegetarian for 17 years looking forward to getting back to it I don't think spirulina is considered vegan but it contains 50 to 70 percent protein another option is to grow giant sunflowers and use the seeds by eating them raw roasted sprouted or as sunflower seed butter . And then of course Moringa which is 30 percent protein same as beans .
@badmoonrising8275
@badmoonrising8275 2 года назад
I have a gene mutation (don't remember the name right now) but because of it my body can't process protein from plants except 1 kind of seaweed. Have you ever heard of that? I just decided from that it would be too hard for me to successfully be vegan but now I'm actually worried with this big push to get rid of meat in the world. Any ideas?

Bring it in for the cold! It will love the summers and after a few the trunk will be big enough to leave outside mulched heavy, then if it die backs it will still shoot out again and grow as big as it was bf it froze back! Make sure it doesn’t sit in water during winter👍🏻

jake-- I've been reading about the Moringa tree and the dedicated sites indicate that a tree grown from a cutting will not develop a tap root like a tree which is grown from seed will develop, so it will not be as drought resistant. Please let us know what you observe with your trees. I very much enjoy watching your garden develop. Thanks, Taril

We are in Australia but my mum is from asia and i know they use it everywher all the way to Africa. My mum grows it and uses the leaves mostly in soups with beef or fish, I'm not a vegan but i usually only eat rice with just the broth and the leaves from the soup and can never get enough. I've trimmed them before and from what I know of moringa tells me they aren't ideal as shade trees because they can drop alot of leaves especially if you're letting them grow to full size, they also produce numerous seed pods that can accumulate quite quickly. Also if you're letting them grow to full size it becomes difficult to harvest the leaves which is what you're using as you say and they aren't the sturdiest and can easily break or blow over during strong winds but even if they blow over they usually reroot themselves and their side branches just become become main stems. Best practice is to trim or cut them back regularly as they do coppice (grows back multiple shoots after being cut) and trim them to a convenient height so that the leaves are easier to harvest when you need them. They will eventually need to be re-planted from seed or cuttings but will usually last years. Also every part of the plant can be used even the seeds and seed pods and are eaten in some places like Thailand when the pods are very young and soft. I'd imagine they'd be a bit like broccolini or even green pea pods.

Im gonna try some cuttings this week… from the seeds you gave us a year ago… those trees are pushing 16 ft now! tons of seed pods, dropped a lot of leaves but Im pretty sure it is due to the energy and water all going to the pods!
