I always loved his kata, even though I'm a Shotokan practitioner. His performance is always honest, with no dramatic pauses or over-exaggerated kiais and movements. He looks like he's actually fighting someone. His techniques leave little room for imagination because his strikes and counters are clear, precise and powerful.
I am forever grateful to Sensei Higaonna for the years he lived here in America. It was an honor to have him here in America, and I learned a great deal about Goju-ryu Karate at that time from him and Sensei Rodney Hu Sr. Not to forget that the world top instructors from each country came to America to enjoy their own personal training from here. I got the chance to meet and train with some of the best I.O.G.K.F teachers in the world.
Just came back from the World Budusai in Naha, Okinawa Japan! I'm from IOGKF India 🇮🇳. We trained in Higaonna Senseis Dojo post the Budosai ended. Phenomenal training.👌👌👌👌You are indeed very lucky to have trained under him in America. 🙏I wonder how old he must have been then?
In a sanctioned sport event? Probably not. But I wouldn't want to find out what it's like to have iron hands grab and rip my throat out. You want to? Feel free lol
