I usually cringe thinking of someone covering Whitney, but when I saw what you were reacting to, I got excited. If anyone can cover Whitney, it's definitely Morisette. She did both songs beautifully!
That's my typical reaction, too. "Sang Whitney songs" ≠ "sounds like Whitney" or "the second coming of Whitney." I really appreciate that she honored all the finest aspects of Whitney's rendition while staying true to her own style. Her own voice is more than beautiful enough to stand on its own merit imo.
Six years ago when I first stumbled onto Morissette on the Wish Bus for the first time, I said to myself that I was hearing the best young female vocalist in the world and I still hold that sentiment to this day. I'm in my early 60's and I've heard the best of female artists over the years. I can honestly say, I've never heard of another that has this much vocal talent at such a young age of 19 when my ears heard this beautiful vocalist. I can't even bring myself to calling Morissette a singer. The word doesn't capture what this young woman can do.
The first night was Morissete and Catherine Mcphee, but on the second night David Foster give it mori all the way, i think he has just notice, she can filled the entire auditorium
It's one thing covering the likes of Whitney, my question is can ANYONE cover a MORISSETTE original, in my eyes Morissette would be the hardest ARTIST to cover, her delivery is so top notch, like you say she never plays it safe 🇬🇧🔥👌❤️.
I don't know whether you know or not about the film she is working on at the moment called SONG THE FIREFLIES, it's the film she actually started working on just before the pandemic hit, well now she is on the final stages so hopefully we can all get to watch her on the big screen 🇬🇧🔥👌❤️.

The more significant info I can share with you that went down on that stage Tommy was when David mentioned that Morissette will be known everywhere. Now that sounds like a promise to me, and when David makes a promise he absolutely delivers like what she did for the 2 other filipino artists Charice pempengco and Gerphil Flores. Remember, David has 16 grammies under his belt as a producer, composer, songwriter and as a star maker I believe she can produce another Whitney Houston or Celine Dion in Morissette. She definitely is more than qualified to be considered under his label.
I LOVE watching YOU react to Mori--so genuinely excited for her!! I do the same thing when I watch her!! What I want EVERYBODY to try to notice (after watching the video a few times, because it's difficult to take your eyes off of Mori as she sings🥰) WATCH THE BAND MEMBERS' REACTIONS. They are literally amazed at what that artist can do!! She blows their minds as they are accompanying her. Once she finishes, the drummer must put down his sticks so he can applaud. During the performances, the other sound guy on keyboards/etc. apprears to be so enthralled, he looks like he's having an eargasm!!! Soooo good!! You may have to watch her other performances from this series with Foster to catch everything I'm telling you but please do--you won't be disappointed.

Great reaction Tommy! I love how excited you get when you listen to Mori and how well you articulate what we Mowienatics all feel about our beloved Queen. You may even be more blown away when you watch one or two of Mori's versions of Never Enough from this same concert series with David Foster. She puts in a few different twists; and I almost can't believe I am saying this; but I think they rival and may even top her Wish Bus performance of Never Enough. I love, love, love the dramatic ending that I guess David Foster may have arranged.
Mori sings "Not enough" and then the medley, initially just the fist song and Katherine McPhee did the "always love you", but after the first night Mori did the lot. I think that there is another song, but I forget. Yes, it was a 5 or 6 nights thing.

Her songs were Never Enough and the Bodyguard medley. Except for the first day (blue gown) she split the Bodyguard Medley with Katherine McPhee. The second day (black gown) was my favorite as far as the song Never Enough. Only because it had the best fancam footage. But Mori being Mori I’m sure they were all top tier performances every night if you were there live. BTW welcome back and congrats on charting on billboard!

It is the little notes that she values as much as those big notes that make her special. She doesn't cheat what is in front of her for the notes we all wait for. Every note has an equal weight because they set up what is coming. Then it is her low tones that drive me crazy. they are so full and round and fully supported that they are amazing. Then you can just feel the love for the music the whether it is the first time she has sung a song or the hundredth time she has sung it you get and the song gets her absolute best. She is the best female vocalist out there, anywhere.

It was a concert that had matinees and evening performances Mar. 21-26 Mori didn't do many of the matinees. he first night, (royal blue gown) she sang Never Enough like in all shows and I Have Nothing, and Katherine McPhee did , I will always love you , but after that first night Mori did Never Enough , I have nothing and I will always love you in shows following....unsure why.
Mori did the full medley on 5 nights, and 6 times NEVER ENOUGH and there are a ton of phone Videos it's just finding the right one with close up's, it was a shame that RUN TO YOU was missing love that song and we know Mori has no Problem singing it, David Fosters wife Katharine Mcphee sang one song from the medley on the first day, great voice but not for Whitney sorry, the transistions were not smooth as by Mori or Whitney, now have you seen Morissette MISS CONTEST Philippinens POWER first take after being ill, it became one of my favorits, cannot believe how great she is, that voice the breath control and transistions are absolutely fantastic even better than the Version from the MISS UNIVERSE CONTEST, I don't know how Mori does it. I love Mori honestly and technically great but there is something lacking for me, it's the magic and something you can't explain which you can see on Whitney Houston even on her low moments and not on her prime that made you feel something special and how she delivered her live performances. That's my opinion. Please do respect, thanks! But I love Mori.
I think it's tough when one of the singers has already achieved the highest level of fame possible, not just in their own country but globally, with a well-earned reputation as one of the all time greats, and on top of that we're talking about their signature song that also happens to be widely considered one of the greatest songs of all time. Those are some really damn big shoes to fill. So your sentiments are understandable 🙂 I don't think Morissette sounds like Whitney (and I appreciate that she doesn't try to copy her), but I do think her singing has a few key similarities to Whitney, and for me she's one of the only singers who can hold their own performing Whitney songs.
Try to find a live Whitney performance that is better than the studio version.I have never seen her cone close to Singin her songs better live.That is what sets Morissette apart from other artists,she is way better live than in the studio recordings.Real Tok!
