This song was based on the writer's real life experience. The language is Tagalog one of the languages here in the Philippines. There's actually a Wish Bus there in the U.S.A. "Akin Ka Na Lang" is in Filipino language, specifically Tagalog. Morissette also sings in her native tongue, Cebuano, another Filipino language. She also sings in English, of course. Do you know that she is also a songwriter? Please check her originally-written songs "Phoenix", "Love You Still", "Mirror", "Will You Stay", "Trophy", and "Wishing Well". 🥰

You can actually see how she prepares for it, she is leaning back first, then puts her one hand on the table .. i mean its not much but its clearly a sign she prepares for something special. Else, for her longest whistle so far watch her version of "I wanna know what love is" and for multi-language watch her at-home version of "Resignation" which is in english, tagalog and korean. The version from the Asian Song Festival 2018 is however also great, with her having tears in her eyes and its just an absolute emotional roller coaster.

Check she and her band out live on her own composed songs she co-wrote with her husband. 'Will You Stay', 'Phoenix', 'Trophy', 'Mirror' and 'Love You Still'. The last one addresses the separation from her family due to her father's disapproval of her marriage.

Hello Kyle and Alanna, thank you for featuring this song "Akin Ka Na Lang" by Morissette on the Wish Bus. This is my most favorite of her performances on the Wish Bus, followed closely by "Never Enough", "Rise Up", "Secret Love Song", "Naririnig Mo Ba" and "Gusto Ko Nang Bumitaw", all on the Wish Bus, please react to them all. Not only does she have a wide vocal range, but she has a pleasant-sounding voice in all her ranges -- from her low notes, to mid-range and to her belting notes, up to her whistle notes. As we all have seen and heard here, even her belts and whistles are not strained and shrieky or shrilly. Another one of her strengths is her story-telling ability, she has a very good diction and she uses dynamics, like building up and progression as well as contrasts, that she is able to convey the emotions, and we feel them, we get the chills and goosebumps, even become teary-eyed at times like what Alanna experienced. Mori is on another level, truly one of the best singers and performers the Philppines has produced and we are proud of her. 🥰

Yes, the Wish Bus is a moving bus in Manilla. There are some Morissette songs where the bus is actually moving while she is singing. The bus is equipped with speakers and screens so that people can stand outside and watch/listen to the performers. There is supposedly a similar bus in the US (Los Angeles) but i've been living here for over 20 years and have never seen it! lol Please continue down the Mori-wormhole......you will find....awe....wonderment and .....JOY! Morissette is a vocal assassin from which NO genre is safe!!!

Thank you for reacting to Mori. I almost exclusively listen to her these days. It's an actual bus. Perhaps you can react to her Against All Odds performance to see the bus actually moving. You have a lot of catching up to do but I promise it's so worth it. Her music is changing nowadays but I love her more. Whatever genre you fancy, you can't go wrong with choosing a performance from her. My personal favorite is her rock medley. Enjoy!

Mori has her own EP, even videos (eg „Phoenix“), but she excels live. But if you want to see her own stuff, I recommend any live version of „Phoenix“ or „Love you still“!

The first whistle came directly after a 2 bar belt. Briefly before entering into the whistle, he actually grabbed the table to anchor herself. Also the 14 second belt in one breath in the final chorus is insane.

Her renditions of Naririnig Mo Ba and Gusto Ko nang Bumitaw are topnotch. Her belting prowess with well-timed squeaks are mind-blowing. All on the Wish Bus. To hear more of her extended whistle, her rendition of I Want to Know What Love is (MYX live) is highly recommended. And with these performances, you barely scrape the surface of what she can do with her voice.

Morissette will absolutely steal your heart once you her voice. One of her best cover is "Gusto Ko Nang Bumitaw" in the Wishbus as well.. I also want to suggest SB19 , the PPop Kings.Since you like ballads, watch their ballads called "Liham", " Ilaw", "Hanggang sa Huli" "Tilaluha" and "MaPa". They also have other genres like R&B, HipHop, EDM and Pop. You will know once you get into them why they are bagged for that title. And by the way,they are also called "Live Monsters".

Yes, it is filmed in a bus. (that‘s why they call it the „Wish-Bus“!) In Mori‘s video where she does Mariah‘s version of „Against all odds“ (which is originally by Phil Collin’s), the bus is even moving through the traffic. (Same in the video, in which Katrina Velarde sings „go the distance“)!

Mori is the best when people say other wise my universal answer is a “true vocalist can hide an accent your pick needs to get on first base.” The male vocalist nowadays take hormone pills and beta blockers to get those high notes. That is why when they perform look like they are forced or they don’t wanna be there. No soul looking in their eyes when you look in them while performing
