Some interviews and praise from analysts and commentators regarding Red Wings prospects Moritz Seider while playing in the SHL the 2020-2021 regular season.
Seider and Raymond will be back in the state for the next spring training and with their stats from eu they have a chance to make it on the main roster
as a Mannheim supporter it kinda hurts to see him in a different jersey but also very impressive to see how he stepped up his physical game compared to the seasons before. Such a great player and even more important a great person off the ice as well. Wish him all the best
I've never touted a prospect this high before, ever.. he's going to be better than Victor Hedman when he hits his prime (he's already better than 3/4 of the NHLs defensemen that ARE in their prime right now lol). He's not going to put up insane points like Makar or Hughes, but you damn well know you don't have to worry one bit about his abilities in his own end "cough cough Hughes*. He's going to make everyone he's on the ice with better. Someone to be trusted in ALL situations at a high level. If i'm wrong about the Victor Hedman comparison in 5 years then so be it. But i can say with confidence he will be our number one defender for years to come.
@@themorethemerrier281 That hit - where he came across the blue line and nailed the forward trying to escape his zone was pure Kronwall. Will we finally have another "better keep my head-up against this guy" on the Wings ? Stevie Y's first (?) draft pick ever.
@@robjohnson5872 yep, the hit compilations are pretty awesome! I especially like the ones where the other players try to hit him and just bounce off. I've seen that at least 10 times.
Tbh, I look at his poise with the puck, his vision offensively but also his ability to kills plays defensively... and he reminds me a lot of Nicklas Lidstrom... with just a touch of Kronwall in the physical department. No wonder why Stevee Wonder didn’t hesitate to pick him so high! All the attributes of two great defenders who were both his teammates.
I think he's going to be better than Kronwall. He has more offensive ability. Closer to a Lidstrom, but not that close. Smart and physical, efficient and steady. I think I remember Lidstrom hitting a guy once. This guy will hit at every opportunity.
He’s awesome. Hate to bring up his name with Nicklas Lidstrom, but I really think they have similar traits. Seider doesn’t make mistakes under pressure, he’s as cool as a cucumber on the ice, and makes the right play almost all the time. He should play his entire NHL career in Detroit.
The thing about Seider that most stood out to me was how often guys would run into him and they would be left lying on the ice while he didn’t even budge.
@@cbebrad also forgot how well he could wheel. I remember seeing some highlights of him after he was drafted, and man could he move. Idk that he's a quick as Quinn, but for his size he's got some get up and go. I really hope he does well at the NHL level, because he already looks to have all the tools to be a force on the blue line.
@@chaotic4267 Yeah, I don’t get why the draft prognosticators we’re questioning Yzerman taking him at 6 when the guy has all the tools to be an excellent defenseman. I think some of these so-called experts value the goal scorers over a d-man who can do a little of everything.
@@cbebrad not gonna lie. I was kinda like "who is this kid, and why does Yzerman think he's worth a 6?" Saw the post draft workout they did, and understood immediately at that point xD. I'll never forget Seider's face when he got drafted, though. Even he was like "wait...what?!" 😂😂😂
thanks for developing him for us (germans). there's no better league to play in in europe! and it's not just SHL it's allsvenskan and youth leagues as well. it's a hockey paradise (SWE)
@@thefives7ar Yea but KHL is different since if you play there you have to play there (or MHL/VHL) for your whole contract since the NHL honors KHL contracts. Also the entire Eastern conference is asian apart from Nizhny Novgorod, Ufa, Kazan and Yekaterinburg. While yes, it is mostly a European league, a significant part of it is still Asian. Now listen, I still agree with you, the KHL is much better than any other league "in" Europe, but still wanted to point this out to understand where the original comment is coming from.
@@thefives7ar Pretty sure SHL and Sweden in general is a better league to play in than the KHL as a prospect. KHL might be a tougher and better league but as a young prospect theres so much more around hockey. To be in a good environment and surrounded by the right people. I’m positive the Swedish coaches and staff handles stuff like that way better than in Russia.
It is great he is already "making friends" with other top prospects in the SHL. I am sure he will play with or crush these players for the years to come.
