Nice production as always, shot still looks a little restricted. Beautiful machine, but I guess keeping it clean is a challenge, due to the mirror finished

Thank you Jose! It's far from traditional espresso, but so is the coffee and I can't get enough of the taste I'm getting with the current recipe. I wish you could try it! I find wiping and keeping the Linea clean really enjoyable and seeing it shine makes me smile 😊 Thank you for the comment!

I really enjoyed it + the description, which is very informative. Anaerobic naturally processed coffee !!! Do you have a local coffee store who provides you with various types of coffee or you attempt to order online from abroad ? You're in the high end "coffee zone" my friend. It's Saturday morning, time for my own coffee experience with Mrs Silvia v6 :-)

Thank you! I’m buying coffees from local roasters. They aren’t really difficult to come by, the selection is good at the moment! Some prefer coffees rather washed, I on the other hand love flavours developed thanks to the fermentation process. Thank you for the comment and enjoy your routine!

Hi Vladimir, thank you for watching! I decided to accept the grinder for what it is. The single dosing mod with bellows is a nice idea, but it’s still too messy and fussy for my liking - the Mignon series simply isn’t meant for single dosing. I like the simplicity of having beans in the hopper for the day. It’s tastes the same and the workflow is much better. I hope that helps!

@@Jaroslav. Mignon series has very low retention (around 1.2g for the Specialita) and is very often used as a single dosing grinder - frankly, no mod is required, just put the weighted beans into the hopper...

@@bzikofski Thanks for another comment! I agree, the retention on Mignon grinders is totally acceptable. I've tried both - single dosing with the stock hopper and I've tried a few mods as well. The only difference was, that the bellows blew out the little that was left inside after grinding a dose and I wouldn't have to purge a gram or two in the morning.

@@Jaroslav. sure thing, if you can spot the difference in taste... ;) imho, not worth it. otherwise, you can use rubber air blower to quickly clean the burrs from old coffee.

​@@bzikofski Haha, I used to grind without purging in the morning, the first coffee did indeed taste a little bit off compared to the next shot. But that was still on the Silvia, so maybe you're right and the inconsistency had something to do with the machine or even a sleepy puck-prep and not the grinder. I'm doing it purely out of instinct now (stale grounds doesn't sound tasty), but I'll give it a try without purging tomorrow morning and pull the shot with the Linea, I'll let you know my findings.

@@Jaroslav. that was what I was intimating, yes. I just feel like such a beautiful machine should be paired with something more substantial than a Specialita. Plus, look at all those beans you're dumping by having to measure post-grind.

Thank you Nick. While I agree that the Linea deserves to be paired with a higher end grinder, underestimating a Mignon is a common misconception. A Mignon with aligned burrs does a very good job. I’ve tried single dosing mine, but I didn’t like the workflow. I decided to accept the grinder for what it is. At the moment, there simply isn’t a single dosing grinder that I would like. My endgame grinder won’t be a single doser, unless it won’t involve having some sort of bellows. At the moment, it will definitely pay off to wait until the Host 2021 in winter and see what’s new in the industry. I’ve read Mazzer will bring a new home grinder too, i’m hoping to see that first before I fully decide what to spend my money on. In the meantime, getting anything else than what I already have would be a setback from getting what I really want. Does that clarify it for you Nick? And concerning the excess grounds, the coffee I used was new to me and I haven't dialled the time properly at the time. Once that's set, there's rarely an excess of 0,2g at most. Which is insignificant.

@@Jaroslav. hey don't get me wrong, I'm all for taking your time and researching what you really want, especially when making a big purchase. I'm sure your espressos are great even with the current setup and I get that Mignon has an ardent fanbase. I don't consider myself in that crowd, but I certainly don't knock you for knowing what it is you like and what works for you and sticking to your convictions here. I also very much appreciate your thoughtful responses and for posting some good content (for me to criticize in good humor 😉).

Oh I wish there was a grinder I'd want to buy right now, it would make things so much easier. I'm not in the Mignon fanbase either, but it's pretty capable for what it is and will do for a few more months until i'm fully settled on something else. I was hoping the P64 would be my end game, but after reading some reports of it's poor build quality I decided to give it a pass. I'm not a fan of Niche, i'd never want to buy that grinder either. Then I realised I don't even like single dosing anymore, so the E65S from Mahlkönig is the current lead on my list. I'm hoping Mazzer will bring something solid to the table this winter, otherwise i'll probably not have any other option 🤷‍♂️ Thank you so much for the comment, at least I got to share my thoughts and you shared yours.
