Thanks for the comments everyone. I am using an IMAX 2000 with a GPK CB base antenna. Just got a small Varmint XL-250 amp. Dead key 65 watts and peak 300 watts. Take care, Bulldog 777.
This is my first time watching your videos, as I am just getting into CB ( I know nothing about them), I am glad I found your channel as I am loving the videos already. Actually I am building a culture with my sons as I am on a mission to get them away from the playing video games all day. I love the fact that I can teach them communication skills as well as respect for the culture. Reno thanks and I love the set-up, hopefully I will get there with my kids and grandkids.
There are plenty of ham radio operators running HF out of apartments. So go look and see what they do and just tailor things for 11 meters. If you have a balcony you can for sure run an 11 meter antenna there. If it has to be an indoor antenna there are still options. The only thing stopping you from getting back into the hobby is you. If I had to move into an apartment I wouldn't stop playing radio. I would just get creative with my antennas. Since I am a ham I wouldn't just be running 11 meters. I would be running 2 meters, 70cm's, maybe 6 meters, and several HF bands. With a magnetic loop antenna I could cover 20-10 meters. I would also go to public parks to operate. So you should get back into radio if it's something you really enjoy. You don't need a huge tower and yagi to have fun.
Mag loops are a great indoor antenna for CB. If you run any power, it will need a big variable capacitor, with a large gap, but they can be made from sheetmetal, or tin in jars, and they are also directional, and do not require a tuner, but a very good swr or antenna analyzer is a must. I have tuned one based on recieved signal level, and was in safe swr range, but very risky.
hey bulldog ive talked all over the country with a barefoot modded 29lx and can hear/talk to anyone but i haven't heard you on 28.... 151 north dakota. maybe catch you sometime!

"There's a lot of fine folks out there". It's been my experience that the fine folks on 11 meters are mostly hams. Most of what I hear on 11 meters is garbage. Thanks to all the high powered stations and stupids with echo mics CB is pretty much worthless during the day. But in the evenings once the skywave dies down; 11 meters makes a nice local, casual ragchew band. It's a shame that CBers have so thoroughly trashed a perfectly good radio service. Oh well; I am a general class ham, so I have options besides CB.
+purplemutantas Hogwash. Most ham operators are far too full of themselves and thus tend to be a bunch of holier-than-thou jerks. Even you couldn't post a comment without criticizing. It gets tiring, man. Contrary to your delusions, you're not one of those "fine folks."
