A cold front pushing east through Monday morning brought plenty of lightning strikes to areas of eastern England despite the meagre instability. Modelling showed the squall was expected to arrive here at around 9am, so I had set my alarm for then - but it came ten minutes earlier than I expected, and the loud, overheard thunder was basically my alarm clock! I immediately rushed out of bed and quickly pulled my phone out to film its passage. Even though frequent thunder can be heard, I only managed to capture one small bolt of lightning.
