The Notho is not immune to the damage of eels and jellies, but is immune to the effects, so no getting dismounted, etc. and has a resistance to their electric attacks. So they take less damage from them, but do still take some damage.

@@newtrezlinlegend9173 I think Moro does implement alot more varied and elaborate animations than most including WC. Also, much like all the other modders their skills improve and evolve with each new project and you can see it, be it modeling, animation, texturing or FX .

Having played with it for a while now, it really is a great creature. The only things I would nitpick purely from a personal aesthetics pov, is the electric charge effect surrounding it which imo hides all the details of the skin and colours and does so instantly from your first attack. Secondly, given its long thin neck/tail structure, glass cannon role, I feel its size is way too big... like 25% larger than it should be. at 70% maturation it looks a lot more fitting. That's subjective of course and honestly this is a surprisingly nicely balanced creature right off the bat. Great work

woah these animations are _cracked._ with the dynamic tail movement and locomotion on terrain it just looks sooo fluid and natural, reminds me of fully procedural animation like in rainworld

I was so scared when I was this video title because I really like nothosaurus, but Moro always makes things that are way too OP for my tastes. I was on the fence until you had to use infinitestats to not immediately die in the cave. That sold me on this guy being on the strong side of vanilla but not server breaking. I CERTAINLY noticed the snake-like movements, although I would gently correct that to monitor lizard-like movements. I still have nightmares from my time working with tegus and monitors, and the notho brings that back up in the BEST POSSIBLE WAY! This is a work of art. I wish the pearl gathering was less OP because as annoying as the anglerfish is, its role as a pearl gatherer makes it a unique and valuable creature while the notho has a lot of other things going on. I’m definitely adding this to my servers but altering the ini files to make the saddle a higher level. Shoutout to Moro for the Gaduga tier work on a Santa’s elf timespan, and shoutout to Becca for comprehensive, entertaining, and positive mod spotlights that keep the community from becoming isolated islands❤

Very much appriciate the nice compliments. Pearl Rate Is getting nerfed to about 15-20 per pearl and it's getting a config option to control the harvest rate via the custom admin remote in the mod, among other settings.

@@TGC1775It's not a secret that Moros Tylosaurus and Livyatan are EXTREMELY strong compared to other ocean creatures, pretty hilariously so at that. The Notho is much more balanced by comparison. It's not a bad thing to not want your tame to absolutely stomp everything

I ended up finding out the hard way that wild glaucus, the normally chill sea dragon slug will go out of its way to eliminate any nothosaurus that comes into its territory. Although the Notho can just outpace it melee wise, ranged on the other hand...

Its inspired by Lagiacrus from Monster Hunter. Lagiacrus is a Blue long necked Crocodile with eel like traits. It also used electricity. Lagiacrus can be on land or in water but lagiacrus is the strongest in Water.

I remember reading the original fan made dossier for Nothosaurus when it was on last year’s creature vote. I remembered it had a special type of fish oil that would allow you to speed up the taming of water creatures ( I could be wrong) similar to the blood elixir the desmodus makes.

This is so well done i have wanted more serpent movements in the game for so long and its fantastic looking but i do wish it was a bit beefy health wise since the only caves it can fit into are sea cavers and thats a fast way to die. And it fills a wonderful purpose i hate using anglers for pearls this is such a great alternative.

This thing is actually so COOL! This may be one of my favorite creature mods. The only real criticism I have for it, is that the lightning VFX seem a bit too bright at higher charges. Shame I can't try it out, I think my PC would melt if I tried running ASA on it. The animations are especially nice, and I do agree that it'd be really cool if the Ark snakes where animated like this thing's tail is.

The lightning VFX are too much and could use a tone down. The excessive flashing is not only hard on my fps but very hard on my eyes. I feel the mod should come with an epilepsy warning

Taming a high level one is actually rlly expensive and costs a lot of silica pearls (electronics needed for generators). But this is by far the best tame of any mod and it actually feels balanced, unlike the glaucus.

All the animations are as great as you're making it out to be. But I have to admit, It was really funny to watch you go on about how not-janky it is compared to other long creatures while the Notho was actively tilting like a fleshy see-saw from walking over rocks. And this happened twice in the video. First at 2:00 and again at 15:45. Again, the animations look just as great as you sold them as. But that thing has absolutely no IK and painfully needs it.

The author actually mentioned recently that he doesn't intend to make things OP, but rather he's not a "stats/numbers" guy either, and has been trying to nerf all of his mods recently and allow in-game config settings for all platforms so players can tweak it even further. So far I think this Nothosaurus is his least OP creature

Why is this thing so big? May as well be lagiacrus from monster hunter. I think it would’ve been cool if it had a basking ability where it could heat itself up and move slightly faster and do extra damage but only for a short time since it is cold blooded

Wow, this one looks really nice! I wish there was a version without the electrics, feels a little OP for the lizard it is. But i love the design, mechanics and everything. Balancing wise, I think its to powerful to be a Lvl. 48 tame (especially as a passive tame). I think the electricity ability should be either locked to a tech saddle or be removed from the standard Nothosaurus, maybe make it unlockable somehow different (like with the Anomalocaris transformations?). I mean, it kinda fits a similar role as the Bary or the Spino, just a little different. But with the Electricity its way stronger then both of them, is it? But besides the critics, this is fantastic! I will integrate it into my Ark runs :)

The Electricity is intentional. Moro was inspired by Lagiacrus from Monster Hunter wich is a Crocodile eel with electricity.

That things harvest rate is over tuned bigtime, either that or you have harvest amount set way too high.

I believe it's the latter, the server is SUPPOSED to be 1x harvesting but it doesn't seem so. Later in the video I end up collecting ~65 pearls per node in the Island ocean cave

@@MoroNada Gorgeous model and mob behavior BTW could be better when it crawls over things but i think that is a limitation of the software and physics. What is it's base damage and drag weight if you don't mind my asking. Where would you place it in the weight department? Basically Small, medium, Large or Xtra?

The pearl ability is way too op. The anglerfish is the pearl gatherer and is harder to tame. I’d rather the notho be able to *find* pearls but not harvest them, or at least have a much worse harvest rate than angler. That way you could combine both, notho as the scout and angler as the gatherer

Nah dude the angler is 100% NOT harder to tame considering it’s just a knockout and food vs needing 3-15 generators depending on the level of

Are you crazy? Angler is one of the easiest tame to get? Just go deep and crossbow 1 and your done.... Atleast notho tame is very expensive, so it makes sense it get this. Just say you love anglerfish and are mad your tame got obsolete 😂

@@6.2litersofnoise41 For anglers, you need to be at the bottom of the ocean, fighting off megalodons, mosas, tusos, plesios, JUST to find a high level angler. You need a scuba set, kibble (aka jerky and crops) or at the very least prime meat. Ideally a good crossbow quality too with tranq arrows. Nothos? Get some metal and electronics and gas and go to a beach. Boom. No need to get an angler at all

@@Miguel-Red what…? In what 100x boosted unofficial servers are you playing in where making a scuba, taming a high level general water dino and fighting off megs, mosas, tusos etc, is easier than 105 metal ingots and 90 pearls (cost of 3 generators)?

@@youtubealt243 to tame a high level you need up to 15 generator. Also in what map you are that you are facing all those stuff for an anglerfish? You normally find them alone with either 1 or 2 mega in the island, after all the ocean is so empty you rarely get into groups of stuff.
