I heard “buena” on the sopranos and that’s how I got introduced to morphine. I couldn’t believe I had never heard of them prior. Cure for pain is one of my favorite albums.
Will always love this band. Just amazing!!! I lack the words to describe how much Morphine rocks. They just had the smoothest sounds, coolest lyrics, wicked stage presence. There will never be another band like Morphine. R.I.P Mark, you are surely missed.
I decided to do a search for saxophone artists on internet after watching Julian Smith on Britain's Got Talent and I stumbled across this band and WOW! They're fantastic. I've ordered Cure For Pain immediately.
I love this band. No telling how big they would have become. Also this is a perfect segway to connect these two great songs. "So whisper me your number, I'll call you up @ home"......(then killer sax break)......so fitting !
Mark had such flair and power in his music!! The raw primal sounds and attitude in the music of Morphine is infectious.......simply put MORPHINE was bad ass!! and the music they have left is still bad ass!!
Saw them after "no cure for pain" in Chicago. A bistro, the Frigginn ceiling was flexing and plaster was falling in plates. Unbelievable band, unbelievable show. Life changing.
I get shivers down my spine when I hear Whisper. One of my most favourite songs ever and also one of the sexiest things out there. Such a man, Mark! He should have been cloned!
Anunnaki.
Mark, you meant so much to me and you will be forever. No one can match Morphine. It can't be done. They were unique. It's a damn shame I Discovered them when Mark was already dead. My best friend saw them once live. Damn! I wish I was there... So cool!
Thanks for video, love it. The Sandman was original, creative and showed that new music and ideas are not dead. I saw them once in a small venue, the place was in awe. You could cut the mood with a knife.
Continued from below.............. And Morphine took the stage. From the first barrage of Sax and Bass, the cynical, fest-weary crowd of urban hipsters was silent. Transfixed. I don't think anyone took the time to order a beer or a kabob until the show was over. And then soon after, my brother emailed me that Sandman had died. It was heartbreaking, but I felt blessed that I'd seen him perform live. I'll never forget it.
Whenever someone asks me "what's the best concert you've ever seen?", without hesitation, I tell them it was Morphine at the 'Taste of Randolphe' in Chicago in the summer of '98 ('99?). An outdoor streetfest. The setting sun reflecting off towering cumulous clouds rolling in directly overhead. A cool breeze blew in, the barometric pressure dropped, and the temperature dropped with it........ continued....
holy shit! I've been searching like crazy for more morphine stuff, this is great and to top it all of their my freaking favorite songs. This makes me happy! thanks uploader, this is fantastic. You got anything else? :P
Everyone seems to take their name out of context. I still believe the injuries he suffered when he was stabbed while working as a cab driver is what did him in. I mean sure, he wasn't the healthiest guy in the world, but I don't think it was drugs that did him in.
@@Switcharoo12 He was a smoker too but yeah, he literally got stabbed in the heart then. 3 weeks before he died, he got a feeling in his left arm and he mentioned it to his girlfriend but shrugged it off; he said he'd have it looked at after the tour. Well, then he died in Italy on that 102 degree Farenheit day.
everytime i hear this song, my head starts to move and i can do nothing about it! and by the way Marks' bassline always reminds me of a funky cow mooing.. so off the hook..
Let's take Mark's example and recognize that addiction hurts. It took the best Jazz vocalist of our time. Just help those you love. Don't judge. "Don't worry. I'm not looking at you."
