The Frymaster Flash is back woo. Good on you for sticking with such an old car with your health issues. At least if you leg locks up while you're going full throttle you can pull some epic powerslides.
Mate, your Minor will never be significantly quieter. I restored a 1970 Austin Mini to better-than-new condition. I'm sensitive to noise, so I included under-bonnet, floor, firewall, behind-door-card and behind-headliner sound proofing. All new exhaust of course. Many new body panels, and numerous rust holes weld-repaired. All new body rubber and suspension as well. Net result, superb running and driving car, and noisy as hell. That's the way they were designed, and that's the way they will always be.
Oh dear. I think I'll have to be resigned to the noise. I can deal with it though. I'll just have to get a decent mic in the future. I bet that mini was lovely to drive
@@thefatfrierunleshed I've done a number of restorations...'40 Chevy, '81 Chevy pickup, '61 Spitfire, '64 VW Beetle, '62 Corvair, '51 MG-TD and the '70 Mini. The Mini is the best driver. Wonderful design. I've very much enjoyed your video's. You have a great attitude, a fine delivery and you're a very talented videographer.
Glad you got the suspension fixed .As you know it can be lethal if it collapses. I have a friend who suffers health problems aggravated by cold and she purchased a car seat heater thingy for about £20 she reckons it works a treat. It plugs into the lighter plug. Hope all is going well with the house
Love the vids Frier, I have an ol moggy, you deserve more subscribers, can’t wait for the next part, also waiting to see how the house restoration goes 👍 I am a busy bee🐝
I wanted to comment on the transmission but held back .You can probably get more out of 1st gear by using it mainly to launch the car (get it rolling) then go to 2nd.You were in previous vids in my opinion going to long with too many RPM s in 1st. First gear is very low and even with better transmission it is best just to use first just to get rolling. I loved driving my Morris as a teenager and also the other old English cars I played with. Austin A40 A55 And A60 s.They were plentiful in Canada and not much money and an apprentice baker could well afford to buy and maintain them. That car is a keeper!
Ah thank you. I always am glad when people give me advice, as I have mostly learned about the car through trial and error. Ill certainly keep this in mind and change out of it faster
Replacing the gearbox will not solve your first gear noise. They're noisy by design. That whine you hear is the stronger straight cut cogs meshing, most like the reverse gear on every manual car ever. The other three gears are helicoidal, smoother engagement, less noise, but not as strong. The only way to tone it down is to modify. Different box, different internals...
nightshades.. can't hurt to try can it? You might be pleasantly surprised. They take a long time to get out of your system you have to give them up for at least a month.
I am indeed. We haven't been able to go down to the canal due to covid so we are working with CRT and local councils to plan future works until we can go down
Hi buy your self the high lift bonnet stay from ESM it will stop you banging your noggin and really make a divergence working in the engine bay RG Mike
My Morris minor needs the front suspension re-building lol, I am more than open to the idea of helping with a video if I buy the bits XD if you want message me on Instagram @themorrisguy1960
