These old motors are good solid things, proper thick approx 1.5mm thick body panels, not like the tissue paper 0.5mm we get today. However in places like England, with our weather, rust was always going to be the No1 killer. Its great to hear that in warmer climates around the world, the old Morris Minor is still doing ok, still holding their own so to speak. Thanks for the story, and for watching this video. Compared to what we see under the modern car bonnet, if we look at the Morris engine bay, its gargantuan with lashings of space around the engine, Loved working on those old style engines myself, one way or another you could always get them going again...he says lol - Plugs, Points HT Leads, yes been there myself..ha ha Still a damn good classic to this day, was nice to see this baby batting along, just a shame the early morning light wasn't in my favour when it came to filming her. Its that time of year Pat, "Show Time" over here in england during the summer months, truck and car shows all over the place, thats why we get to se them out on the roads heading to a show somewhere or going back home again. No idea on the age of this car, I didn't see the Reg Plate properly, Im guessing 60's - nice van and very well looked after, good to see something slightly different on the road. There is one here in my town in the US. It looks great. My older bro had a Morris Minor sedan in the '70s. He did a bunch of work on it and had it running, but in the end he said the chassis was just thin sheet metal and he got rid of it.
Nice catch! My first car was a black Morris Minor MM with a 918cc sidevalve four that put out 27 bhp, iirc. Theoretically it would hit 60 mph, but I didn't own it long enough to get it up to that speed LOL. It was a lot of fun nonetheless. I think it had a 3 speed non-syncro gearbox.
High speeds in old cars never feels safe I don't think. I had a Triumph Vitesse once, good for 105 mph supposedly, well I got it to 80, and I was crapping myself...lol It shook rattled and rolled, literally. My Mini was the same, engine screaming out for another gear etc. All good fun looking back mind. Thanks Dan :-)
It started off ok, but then as we rounded that curve onto the M40, the light was very poor and not in my favour, shame that. This was filmed around 7am ish, on a murky day really, so I was a bit disappointed with the lighting. Still you just grab the moment eh, these things don't happen on cue. Thanks Andy :-)

I can hear the gears crunching from here..ha ha - Strange isn't it, but at the time we wouldn't think twice about a car with only 3 gears, and crunchy ones at that, and yet as we glance back to yesteryear, we look upon stuff like that with a sort of fondness in our eyes, funny old world where we can have the slickest of gear changes today, and yet smile about a crunchy 3 speed from years back..lol All good fun :-)
the old A series engine will get the morris minor doing 70mph without much of a problem.. the only problem with doing 70mph is that your in 4th with the engine doing a good 5000+ rpm. We stick to 55-60mph in our moggies. Dan
