I’m not quite sure how this song is so energetically life affirming given the lyric. But that is his strength. Making the absurdity anthemic. This is strong.
Dive The World yes. I love the dig at social media oversharing too. Too many people talk about the things they want to do without acting upon it! Which takes courage. But it’s the only way to grow.
This! Half the songs on this new album I'll be listening for a long long, time, this is I didn't expect any longer. This is such great album, one great tune after another. This hasn't happened since 1990 Morrissey. Thank you for this, Morrissey!
For me this song is an anthem it reminds me of people these days just showing off whatever they do instead of actually enjoying the moment… like no one cares just get on with it xD 🥳
I got a message screen " The following content may contain topics related to suicide or self-harm " so I pressed the " I understand and pressed the proceed button " As I say "Just get on with it " - Great song BTW
I looked up what other people think it means on the internet, basically music analysis, and one person said it could be representing the quote "Walk the walk instead of talk the talk". I could definitely see this, I think he is using the absolute extreme ideas to get the point across.
This has got to be the message from inside my head. Why bitch and moan about killing myself if I’m not going to do it? We all are put in a shit world so we better just get in with it - humans are resilient if you have the right frame of mind!
Love this album! A low point for me was 'Years Of Refusal'. Not saying I hated that album, but it sounds too 'rocky' and clunky with the exception of a couple of tracks. I love the softer, catchy edge to this album, and the band are far more experimental. My favourite since Vauxhall & I.
I'm going to be honest, as someone who oftenly has suicidal thoughts, I find this song very life inspiring, though. Perhaps it's the rhythm, maybe it's the statements which almost dare and defy us to do something about the situation. I've listened to many other songs from other artists that do not talk about suicide openly, but because of their melody and lyrics are much more likely to make me consider killing myself. This song specifically, although it speaks clearly of suicide, has a good energy overall. There's something about Morrissey that I just can't explain. Maybe it's time to "just don't think about it".
"But don't forget the songs That made you smile And the songs that made you cry When you lay in awe On the bedroom floor And said: Oh, oh, smother me, mother".
Although you could probably care less, I looked up the message about this song, and it was basically "Walk the walk instead of talk the talk". He's basically just using the very extreme ways to get his point across.
This album in it's entirety is the new Morrissey experience I've longed for since it was announced. Screw those bias and partial reviews promoting their own agenda with their Twitter mentality, this record is brilliant.
there are no dud songs like on the last couple of albums, which all felt a little stale. this album feels like a stretch into previously frowned on musical styles by moz... but i'm really enjoying it. especially at his age.
I like it.I was reluctant to talk about it because his political change of late has really disappointed me.But I love the art,if not the artist's new stances.
You took the words right of my mouth Kit. i bought the F*ck The Guardian shirt from the official merch site...now they need to make a F*ck NME, The Village Voice, Rolling Stone, shirts too. I dont get it - leftist media pundits dont like him because he is not 100% devoted to their religion and the fascists dont like him because he craps on all their dangerous ideas. The man is all his own - for that I am thankful. And yes, this album is his best since 2004 for sure.
Kit Bush Brilliant album in deed. Though I still don’t get such silly tracks as my hurling days are over . But it it seems there are always a couple of those in each of his albums. As far as his views are concerned Moz is always loyal in kicking political correctness in the balls. People who don’t get that just don’t get Moz at all. And journalists hahaha just don’t get me started. Regards from Greece and keep safe brother
@@patricktimothy8354 don't worry, it's all bullshit re-hashed butchered interviews and lies spread online by non-journalists. If you do your own research you'll find that the for Britain party are not right wing (I'm not british but I looked into it because I wanted to find out for myself). Morrissey is not racist, the very core of the smiths and his music is all about the underdog and he wrote songs that everyone could relate to. This racist crap is all from people not understanding the meaning and lyrics of national front disco. Morrissey writes from different character's perspective, a lot of his songs are like mini "tele-plays" do not assume he is allways singing about his views and feelings. I hope this might clear things up, but don't take my word for it ... Morrissey will never stoop so low as to defend himself from bullshit on the net, NME tried editing and omitting parts of an interview with him to make him sound "reactionary" about the topic of immigration back 2007 and he sued them and received a written apology from NME. You know that loads of people use the word "racist" on the net because they don't have a better argument or a legitimate and worthy insult. There really is no meaning in left wing and right wing these days anyway.
Bloody hell, this album is now on my vinyl hunting list. I have heard this man’s name over the years, but until today had chronically left him on a back burner. I hope you have a drink with Paul Joseph Watson or Bernard Cornwell or some other limey for my mental satisfaction. Black Pidgeon Speaks said something about artists moving to the USA, I would love a tour.
I'm so happy he hasn't turned comments off on this yet. Moz, I love you so freaking much and I'm so sorry you're still being misunderstood and misquoted and demonized by the press. True fans know who you really are and love you. I doubt you read these comments, but worth a try. Wish I could write you a letter. You've meant so much to me and I just feel awful about the treatment you're getting. The issues you have spoken about are not black and white, they're nuanced shades of grey and people just hear one thing and immediately assume you're a certain kind of person... When anyone familiar with your WHOLE career and oeuvre would know you're certainly no racist conservative asshole. Just hope you're staying strong. True fans have always loved your lack of a filter and we are happy that you see no point in being nice. Can't wait to see you in Vegas in the summer!!
By the way coincidentally, I was watching the news and they were telling birthdays of celebrities and whatnot today is his birthday he is 65. Happy birthday Morrissey🎉
Wow this album is a masterpiece... What a cool song, love how real Morrissey is... Not many artists out there who have managed to stay true to themselves.
@@arturboleite Se é assim que você interpreta essa letra no seu todo, devemos assumir que a sua familiaridade poética com as letras do Morrissey é a mesma de um liquidificador quebrado.
This is beautiful, and true to form for Morrissey, which is why we keep coming back after decades. Always timeless and fresh, the passion and emotions are on the sleeve, the sleeves rolled up, and the poet at work. I was singing along from the start, but stop me if you've heard this one before ; )
Stunning track - in a world where everyone somewhere is offended at something from somewhere its a rare pleasure to hear a voice that dare say anything x
Imponente brano stupendamente interpretato caro Morrissey ~♥~… Ti ringrazio infinitamente per averlo condiviso ★ Complimenti e un meritato applauso!! @ Abbi cura di te !!★ Per favore, stai a casa :)
Morrissey hits out at 'snowflake culture' and produces his best song in a decade. I hardly ever comment on youtube videos, but I have had this on repeat for twenty-four hours now. A masterpiece. Welcome back, sir.
In his early days M explained, " Why do I hold flowers ? I think flowers are nice and beautiful things, they don't harm anybody... they don't burp...or do anything ugly...so why not... it's better than waving socks about. " And... " This charming man is about being charming... which very few people are these days... I think its nice to instill these words into peoples brains and who knows it might rub off on a new generation... you don't have to be violent or ugly or arrogant, just be charming...and what a pleasant world that would be. " That was in '84. Where is society now...of course people evolve or wither away... most decent people have a place in their hearts where this ideal exists, but it must be mitigated when institutions of power, authority and media ostracize and attack men who are openly tender, thoughtful, and deeply concerned for the direction humanity is moving. In this current climate, no one of influence has the balls to be charming and that's rather sad.
AMANECIÓ Y ME LO RECOMENDÓ GOOGLE ... GOO!! ME ENCANTÓ MAS LA MELODÍA A MITAD DE LA ROLA. PARA DESPERTAR CONTENTOS DESPUÉS DE UN CAOS MUNDIAL. SALUDOS DESDE CDMX. 🇲🇽
Seamlessly glides from industrial to crunchy then you notice that jangly rhythm and classic Moz vocal progression... Its like I'm 14 again hearing his voice for the first time, so so good
A Masterpiece. Even better than the last, which was already a blast. This is genius and I never expected the Man to release something like this ever again. Sumptuous, political yes, emotional and taking you on the best ride ever since Steve Harley brought us "Somebody called me Sebastian". Thank you so much Morrissey, wonderful stuff.
