Another example of why the 80s and the 90s had the best videos. They were entertaining, intruiging, funny and most of them relatively inexpensive to make.
Pop promos today are more overtly Satanic. i.e. Lady Gaga; Rihanna; Jay-Z's videos. It used to be the occasional little symbol. Now it's the overriding theme.
A lot of people calling out Kathy Burke, when the real star of the show here is the late great Joan Sims! A Carry On stalwart and fabulous British actress!
Who else could write a song about a seance and then use the middle eight section to spell out the message received? Genius. Classic British humour here- people who think he is being miserable don’t understand the wit involved in this. Plus the late great Joan Sims and urchin like Kathy Burke- wonderful.
This song brings me back to when I was a 15 years old!!!! If it wasn't for our Morrissey, my son wouldn't exist! Morrissey DEFINATELY pushed that fate along...
Seems like yesterday when this came out. From '89 to about '91, it was ridiculous; Moz seemed to release incredible singles every few weeks. Saw him in '91 in Philly. Great show! Of course he ended it early after some putz jumped on his back. Good times.
Lyrics Ouija board Would you work for me? I have got to say hello To an old friend Ouija board, Ouija board, Ouija board Would you work for me? I have got to get through To a good friend Well, she has now gone From this unhappy planet With all the carnivores And the destructors of it Ouija board, Ouija board, Ouija board Would you help me? Because I still do feel So horribly lonely Would you, Ouija board Would you, Ouija board Would you help me? And I just can't find My place in this world well, She has now gone From this unhappy planet With all the carnivores And the destructors of it Oh hear my voice ("hear my voice") Oh hear my voice ("hear my voice") Hear my voice ("hear my voice") Hear my voice ("hear my voice") The table is rumbling... The table is rumbling The glass is moving "No, I was not pushing that time" It spells : S.T.E.V.E.N The table is rumbling The glass is moving "No, I was not pushing that time" : P.U.S.H.O. double F. Well, she has now gone From this unhappy planet With all the carnivores And the destructors of it
FAKE NEWS! Moz hates the media & the media hates him - simply because it won't play their 'game' & sues them when they frequently misrepresent him - donating the proceeds he wins to animal charities. Morrissey's parents are actually Irish immigrants that moved to Manchester; Half his band are Mexican; he was honoured to be given the Key to the City of Tel Aviv, awarding him the Freedom of the City. His lyrics in 'American is Not the World, (released before Obama): 'But where the president Is never black, female or gay And until that day You've got nothing to say to me To help me believe' Check out Ganglord: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8Gowz4V1c-0.html And 'Irish Blood, English Heart': ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KKoS5X4SMrY.html
@@davidvasey5065 Irrelevant question......or just a poor attempt at sarcasm? I was simply sharing information, not attacking you. If my comments weren't appreciated, fair enough - I'm not trying to convert you, far from it - simply redressing the balance. Apologies for interrupting your trolling.
Morrissey morrissey we love yu and I started listening him when I was 9 and I'm 10 now his voice is so nice and I even dance like him whenever I dance in front of my friends they're like wat hell are yu doing I'm like I'm dancing lol
0:54 Cool part, music kicks in, Mozzer wearing his specs, and a great lyric (Because I still do feel so horribly lonely / And I just can’t find my place in this world). Oh yeah, the is great too.
I woud love to add a comment..... but all the comments are great... like most of his songs, the was poetry and songwriting captivate my soul and my mind..... I quote him more than most anyone else.... and the humor and the drama so well balanced... we've all been there .... hes truly a Keates and Yates i can identify with.... the former... i would've never known about until I listened to the Smiths and Morrissey.... viva La Morissey and viva la Smiths (the most common and yet uncommon surname in the english language ... absolutle , utter brilliance.) Thank You!
comedy? i dont know if id call it comedy, but its certainly powerful. people in this comment section have called it bad acting, i call it creative passion
you are a genius and i don't think you get the recognition you deserve. Thank you, you have helped me through the hardest time in my life without exaggeration
I think the 'message' coming through the ouija board spelling STEVEN PUSH OFF is classic Morrissey. I remember when the song came out that the local free 'newspaper', which was mainly about adverts, found space to condemn this song in an article. I think it may have been the main front-page story, although I might be misremembering. I don't know whether to be depressed or amused about the people here in the comments trying to make serious points about Satanic symbolism in music...
MY GOD!!! HADN"T SEEN THIS VIDEO IN YEARS!!!!! I remember having this VHS tape playing in my home for hours on a daily basis. My own mother knew the lyrics though her english was crappy;)
she was a harsh, old bat, whom sent many running away in tears, as she was brutally honest and a perfectionist in her work, and I adored her and studied with her from 2002-2010...... this lady in the video reminds me so much of my old teacher, I just had to write that because every time I watch it I think of her, and wonder about her in Heaven now... miss her... LOVE Morrissey so much..
I've never yet had the good fortune to meet someone else who intuits the comic value of ouija boards. But I've had the good fortune to listen to Morrissey.
thanks for posting this I hadn't seen it up until now, I am a huge fan of Carry on films so was great to see Joan Sims and a young Kathy Burke, I love her too :-)
Mr brother used to play this all the time when I was a kid, there was a something really hypnotic to it, I think it was the background, sorta harpsichord thing going on :) he was a big smiths fan.
