Thank you for writing Into the Dark, that song literally has changed my life and holds some terrifying memories of the pandemic...in only the way a song like that can. My life would be different without that song for the last three years
I really appreciate comments like this. I'm so grateful that my music has had a connection like that and it is my pleasure dude! I hope you're doing well🤘
@@andygillionPractice and playing all the time, and am hoping to put together something that has the same effect on someone that these songs have for me. But that's the beauty of music, it doesn't have to be that way. What I try to do is make sure it's my voice and true to me. But it would be awesome to write a song like Into the Dark and have it have a profound effect on someone. Anyway, thanks for the reply man!
Hemi Cuda I usually play in drop L with 14 gauge strings, lol. Nah, i've bounced from standard to drop A but seem to stay in drop c because even in drop d, i'm looking for a lower open palm mute triplet or chug...
I didn't know there was an English guy in Mors Principium Est! Anyway, it is one of my all-time favourite bands, and the guitar work is so sick. Shreddy and brutal, with just enough chromatic stuff. And your tone is insanely juicy. I lift weights to this album every day like: I AM DESTROYER /squat\ I DESTROY, EVERYTHING I OWN
I just got put onto you guys this week - MORS PRINCIPIUM EST - are wicked, thanks heaps for taking the time to do this lesson, love the fact you guys play in E. Gonna spread the word about you guys here in Australia \,,,/ \,,,/. and yeah I digged the video of you whinning and dinning your axe, lol hahahahaha - classic
You're one of my favorite guitarists dude. Mors Principium Est is one of my favorite melodic death metal bands. The harmonies and solos are just so perfect! Keep on headbanging dude.
Thanks so much for taking the time to make this video! Fell in love with Skyless on spotify and found Mors from there! I'm gonna try and learn this immediately, awesome writing!
Thanks, Andy! for a beginner like me, it's so helpful having solo tutorials like this (and for such a kickass song as well!). Maybe I can finally learn my first guitar solo, thanks to you Keep on rockin dude! \m/
Do you plan on doing a tutorial for Death Is the Beginning? I love that song, it quickly became one of my favorites. Thanks for the awesome music and videos!
thank you very much for this one! do you make a tutorial for Masquerade, too? my pants get very wet from listening to that riff in the album preview and it fucked me up that i cant play even further ... good job man
Still a newbie here, even when you slowed things down, I would maybe struggle with that haha, but trying to get in at least 30mins-1hr a day between work, family and games development and slowly getting better. Now that I have discovered that you, THE Andy Gillion actually has a youtube channel (how the hell did I not know this for so long) and you do guitar tutorials, I have so much motivation to practice one of my favourite bands, so thank you good sir, thank you so much for making these incredible videos :) On a side note, I just ordered a Ibanez RGAIX6FM, so hopefully going from my old Fender Squier Strat with hot rails to the new guitar will help in a big way with the learning process.
Your comment really means a lot to me man. If I'm doing anything to help inspire other musicians that's all that matters to me really. Grab your Ibanez and keep at it and just enjoy the journey that is playing guitar my friend :)
otreum25 I’m in the same boat. I find it helpful to slow the video down to .75x speed in the options menu at the top right. I make sure I can play everything at that speed then I step up to full speed.
Love your riffs and leads and MPE in general dude. Thanks for posting the tutorial. Do a video for The Ghost if you can; great song. Cheers and get to NYC \m/
Would you consider doing or short video explaining your personal recording setup? Or just telling US what DAW you use and how you program drums? Thanks.
If I can find time I'll try to do all these things. I've been thinking about doing some more tutorial stuff for basic composing. Hopefully in the near future!
i want to thank you mr.gillion as a beginner guitarist, you're an awesome guitarist and person, really. It's always exciting to listen your guitar work, also it feels fucking great to play.Although i should practice more pinch harmonic and tremolo picking, this will be the first song i'll properly finish.Have a good day and keep writing tasty riffs!!
Thanks Osman, I wanna thank you for sharing your story with me, it's really cool to know people are finding this video useful. Keep it up and it's a pleasure to help!
Hey man congratz for your compusing an playing skills! two questions: 1. ¿what scale(s) are you using on the solo? ; 2. ¿are you guys ever planing to do a south american tour?
Haha. I'm in Melbourne at the moment. We tried getting everyone out here for a tour, discussed plans with a tour manager... It would have cost us money to do it and the tour manager would have made about 4 grand off our work. Welcome to the music industry!
hey Andy, would you be interested in maybe selling the rhythm patch you use for writing/monitoring? I know the album was reamped. Hard to find good DM metal tones on axechange as everyone is into dryer, djent kinda tones....not my thing, to say the least. Thanks man.
Hey dude, I'll have a think about that, but in the meantime if you've got an Axe FX 2 my rhythm patch is a FAS Modern amp, 4x12 Recto SM57 cab, with a T808 pedal as a clean boost. It's pretty simple but effective for what I play and I totally get what you mean, the world has gone djent mad and it's hard to find good 6-string melodeath suited advice these days. Have a play from there and test out the mics on the cab as they make a heap of difference too.
jesus I really need to look into one of the Axe FXs..i have a black star head with about 12 pedals and sometimes its frustrating as hell to get a tone I like..you Axe FX guys always sound friggin amazing
Muito obrigado! Estou em uma crise de alegria que você respondeu meus comentários aqui no youtube ... Espero que todos os dias você e sua banda se tornar mais bem sucedido! Um grande abraço do Brasil!
Hey Andy! fugging love your riffs! Mors Principim Est are one of our influences. We just put out a new album. curious if you'll give us your throughts!! Cheers!! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bsuMyi7qpBw.html
Have you tried the "underworld" in Camden? They gave space to lots of bands I've never heard of who eventually became main acts... For you guys that should be a walk in the park.. or if you fix something with the likes of Kalmah, Tesseract, Insomnium...etc
