This "restaurant" next to the lake is one of the so called "tourist shelter" - they provide hot meals, drinks, and place to sleep. There are dozens of them scattered all over the Tatra mountains. The staff is also trained to give first aid for tourists in need and have instant contact with TOPR (special team trained to rescue lost or injured).

i went there in summer 2019, felt awful for the horses as they were clearly overworked and tired due to the heat, but morskie oko is beautiful, one of the reasons why im going back this summer

Morskie Oko is only the first stop, there are still many interesting places in the Tatras and you can reach them by hiking trails. I encourage you to visit these places again ...

@@chrisbillington7781 I really recommend the route that starts with the route to Morskie Oko. Turn right after the waterfall- Wodogrzmoty Mickiewicza. On the route there is a beautiful huge waterfall "Siklawa", more lakes and you can buy food there. You can go down to Morskie Oko - wonderful views I recommend it 👍😉

please do not go to the Morskie Oko by horse carriages. In Poland we hate lazy tourists for that. This horses do not have easy life.

Actually here in Poland we hate those horse carriages. We love horses and we are ashamed that they are overworked because of some lazy tourists. A few of those horses died on this road and people around whole country signed many petitions to ban those carriages

It's worth remembering that high above Morskie Oko there is another lake, Czarny Staw pod Rysami (Black Lake under Rysy Mt.), which gives you a different view of Morskie Oko - from a height of about 200 meters. It takes 30-40 minutes to get there, but I don't recommend walking there in chucks! xD

You can go there in chucks, the trial is easy and there are stairs to the Black Lake.

There is another lake (Czarny Staw) above Morskie Oko, roughly half an hour (in summer) from the shelter.

Please don't use the horse carriages. The horses are very often overworked(especially during season) and treated badly. 2hrs is not a long walk and good for yourself. Thanks.

You shouldnt take a horse due to horrific treating by the locals. They often pass out or die on the hot weather there. The horses are just over worked

Have been there last week. It was beautifull. We have also done the five polish lakes. Long hike but worth it. It's not all paved. You can take optional longer routes. Those are real trails

Please! If you love animals - don't take the carriage ride to Morskie Oko! Horses are treated bad, the "care" givers don't let them to take longer enough brakes between rides, the carriages are to heavy for them very often. There's a lot of YT videos and articles how many horses DIED, with people still in the carriages...

We invite you more often, it's great that you like it ❤️, but I have a request - please do not recommend horse carts. For many years we have been fighting so that the carts would not be overloaded, so that the horses had breaks. Just enjoy nature and the wonderful walk. Regards :-)

I've been there just a couple days before you guys did. thing to mention though - the horses will not take you all the way, you still have to walk a bit. But please don't ever use horses, the trail is super easy, just walk and enjoy. Walking is good for you. :) It is a stunning view there but also you could go and visit Dolina Pięciu Stawów, there is a trail you can use off the main road there and make a loop.

Do not use those carriages. They are extremely oveloaded and horses are overworked, they live very short lives there...

Please don't use the horse carriages there. These horses are well overused. There were situations of horses literally dropping from lack of power. We judge people using horses there (as well as the drivers). Have a nice walk instead.

These carriages are highly controversial because, according to independent research and reports, the horses are exhausted and exploited beyond their strength. According to them, carriages should be much smaller and develop slower speeds so that the animals are not harm.

About the carridges, it's better not to take them, they are overloaded and the horses are often mistreated. It's very common for them to die from people overworking them.

You should also next time turn right to 5 lakes valley at Tatra mountains, also on this way will be Siklawa Waterfall, i think its even better than "Morskie Oko"

Glad you enjoyed Morskie Oko 😍 I’ve been there three times (my dad is a fan of mountains). Once I even climbed up little higher to see Czarny Staw (lake 40 min walk above Morskie Oko) which I enjoyed as well. Wish you all the best ❤️

We just came back from the Tatra mountains and Christ🤯 what a place. My girlfriend comes from Colombia and when she was leaving she cried after 4 days in the Tatras.Definitly we will come back there .

I can't understand why these cruel people who make some business by using horses and horse carts are so opposite to use electric carts? Yes , there was a proposition, but they are completely against it... Money would be exactly the same or even better, because "maintenance" of a horse is much more expensive then electricity... Stupid, stubborn GORALENVOLK and their tradition... it should be banned and hopefully sooner or later will be.

I was born and raised in Poland. Till I was 17. Then my dad won the green card lottery. That was 17 yrs ago. Half my life there, half my life in the States. I miss Poland so, sooooo much... especially the nature and food. Thank you for your blog. Brings me way back. I am originally from Gdynia, but Zakopane was and is to this day, my favorite place. Please, never ever take those horse drawn carriages there. The horses are overworked and they fall down on the job on regular basis. Animal rights activists consider it animal cruelty and fight for years to have them banned from there, but it's too big money to be made there for the authorities to actually do something.

I was there when I was 12 🤗now Iam 39 and want to repeat it ! Just one thing to mention ! Morskie Oko is among 5 most bautifull mouintain lakes by National Geographic 🤟there is another Lake above Morskie Oko called Black Lake under Rysy summit ! Really worth to climb up to see it 😀

If you are fit and not afraid of heights i would recommend to go even higher to Rysy summit but you will need helmet and gloves, also I would recommend to do it in end of July/August when there is low chance of seeing ice and snow on trail, unfortuneatly if you want to go to the summit you have to go very early in the morning, starting around 4 am is the best option, also you can go from Slovakia side to the Rysy summit, trail there is way easier than from Polish side and you can visit highest turist shelter in Tatra mountains.

Very nice video, I like such touristic stuff. You very well pronunciate Polish names :) Some pairs of letters can look very hard but in fact most of them are present in English/Irish, eg.: PL "sz" = EN "sh" (like shaft, shadow), PL "cz" is like "ch" (eg. in "chamber", charm etc), "Ł" = "W" (in "window", "warm"). I think very hard looking "dż" & "drz" = both are simply like "j" in jam, jet, Jason etc. Nasal sounds like "ę" & "ą" are probably present beside Polish only in French eg. for Ę, ę: 1 - "un", or 5 - "cing" and for PL "Ą, ą" = FR "on" eg. "bON jour". Have a nice journey in Poland, regards! :)

It is lite-like to go to the sea. After asphalt, it is a piece of cake. The real climb from the Oka na Rysy sea shelter is just beginning. The highest mountain in Poland is 2499 meters above sea level.

Hey Guys! There are even more lakes on this trail. one of the trails leads to Pięć Stawów and the other one around the lake ( Morskie oko) leads higher to the Czarny Staw. I think that was something like 1.5h from Morskie Oko❤️ Good Job!

@@mpingo91 it takes 40 mins to climb up from Morskie Oko to Czarny Staw (the Black Pond), South east of M.O. It takes 2 hours to climb up to Dolina Pięciu Stawow (the Valley of the Five Ponds) from the gates of M.O. by the blue trail. Tough hike but the views pay off! I'd say the most beautiful view in Poland.

You haven't been to Czarny Staw. If you can already get to Morskie Oko, then you have to walk up there for another 45 minutes. Then you are at Czarny Staw. And that's really incredible. Too bad nobody told you that.

Using this carriages is in opinion of a lot of people higly immoral. That`s becouse this horses are treated very poorly. the carriages are often overloded becouse their ovners want to make more profit. And they make a lot of this trips per day. That implicates fact that 1 of 5 horses die every season. That compered to the high ticket prices is horryfying. I`m not some creazy animal rights activist. I eat meat etc. but this is just wrong.

Interesting, because to me as a Pole this trail is one of the most boring trails in the entire Tatra Mountains :D People in general are strongly against using horses to carry people to the mountains. Did you try Slovakia. Popradske Pleso is my favourite place in Slovakian Tatra Mountains.

12:00 min this snow - rest of avalanche (first days of February)... The blast of it moved TOPR's (mountain rescue) car (weight: 2 t) by few metres and the avalanche broke the ice on the lake. The ice was 50cm thick. Fortunatelly - it was at night.

@@TwoMadExplorers sometimes this road to Morskie Oko is closed during winter - because of avalanches. And shelter in Dolina 5 Stawów ( the 5 lakes valley - path starts at this waterfalls which you were passing) is sometimes unnacessible for many days, even weeks.

The problem with horse carriages is that the owners are very greedy and they abuse the animals and push them to their limits to carry as much people as possible and earn more money

Morskie Oko is nice but..... its just a stop on the way to many other places.... i just came all the way from Dolina Pięciu Stawów and Szpiglasowy wierch 🤜🤛 I recommend going deeper ❤👌

Great video. We were there on 4th June this year and there was no snow on Morskie Oko, but a lot of snow on the lake above that- Czarny Staw. It's a shame you did not climb up to that lake, as it is so very eerie up there, it does not feel like planet earth, almost like a frozen moon on another planet. You also have a perfect birds-eye view of Morskie Oko below. We wanted to climb to the top of Mount Rysy, but the amount of snow was too risky without certain equipment.

About the horses - it is recomended not to take tha carriage. There were a few accidents - horses died of exaustion. Too many people to carry, too hot in the summer.

For non-Polish tourists it's worth mentioning that going off the trail in the national parks is forbidden in Poland, so it's better to use the provided toilets.

people like the sea eye, it's only on foot that they wear out horses, they work often to exhaustion, especially in hot weather !!!!!!! remember this 🙈

Nad Morskie Oko tylko i wyłącznie na piechotkę ludzie miejcie litość do tych Koni co te zwierzęta wam robią żeby je tak zamęczać ....... to ma być wypad w góry a nie biesiada na bryczce i uśmiechy od ucha do ucha tu się trzeba zmęczyć dla tych widoków

Thank you guys for showing my favorite peaks around Morskie Oko. It’s Mnich and Mniszek. Lovely view. I spent my youth hiking Tatras. The last time I was there was 50 years ago.
