More than ever, tag team would've been awesome. Since most chapters have heroes travel in groups, make us choose two fighters and tag team (kameos still work in this configuration. You can even have both, short press for attack, long press for switch.). Without changing the plot, this would my idea : Chapter 1: (Kung Lao & Raiden) - Chapter 2: (Johnny Cage) - Chapter 3: Champion (Raiden) Start the Johnny chapter on the line "We're gonna get millions" "It belongs in a museum". You get the iconic line, one less battle, more efficient. Have Kung Lao fight Kenshi off-screen since we fought him already and we have one less boring fight with Raiden. Chapter 4: (Kenshi, Kung Lao, Johnny) - Chapter 5: (Baraka, Kung Lao, Johnny) - Chapter 6 (Ashrah, Reptile, Baraka) Johnny is guiding Kenshi while Kung Lao is protecting him/them, hence why they can't fight the important battles. Chapter 7: (Reptile, Kenshi, Ashrah) - Chapter 8: (Sub-Zero & Scorpion) - Chapter 9 (Scorpion & Smoke) Have Smoke join them because they were taking too long and he was worrying. Chapter 10: (Li Mei & Liu Kang) - Chapter 11: (Sindel, Li Mei, Mileena) - Chapter 12 (Mileena, Sindel, Kitana) Liu Kang entering in action earlier, the three ladies in pink, and the whole family defending the realm. The Sindel fights locks you with Kitana & Mileena. Chapter 13: (Shang Tsung, Quan Chi, Raiden) - Chapter 14: (Liu Kang, Kitana, Geras) Most people won't pick Raiden but at least you have the choice. But you need a proper moveset for Quan Chi (you tested it, now you really want to buy the DLC). Whoever is not fighting is on portal/hourglass duty. 14 needs a Liu Kang vs Dark Raiden fight for a battle of the gods. And a Geras vs Geras fight where time gets fucked. Most characters are playable more than once and you can choose your favorites. It makes a lot of them less passive. You get to use Kung Lao's and Kenshi's complete moveset and get to play with Smoke, Geras, Quan Chi and Kitana. The player has more agency and people can discuss their experiences and create their canon.

Regarding the fatality, you just can't sell 1 single item for 10$. No matter the quality, bundle it up. MK11 did it so well ! I find it hard to estimate the value of a game or of post launch purchasable content. You can't really take replayability into account for single-player game anymore, since the availability of games is so high. Hence why we have padded 100h experience. Fighting games when successful will be played for at least 1 year. But during that time, they don't make money. Should we take into account the amount time played ? Then 2 hours narrative games should cost less. But they still take a lot of time and resources to make. So do we take that into account ? I do feel like games nowadays take more resources to be produced, especially in marketing because it is difficult to just be seen/heard. You take more time, you make less games, so you up the price. Except the percieved quality of the game doesn't change. The change from MK11 to MK1 is no revolution. Anyway, tough topic !

Klock Kick and especially Flying Fists, were visually fun moves that don't seem to have been given a modern equivalent. Just removed.
