The puny kid in the beginning and end of the commercial is NOT the voice of Mortal Kombat. Even the wiki says it is the second guy that screams the phrase. I also can't find out his name but I am pretty sure it is the black kid with the dreads that flashes on the screen for a second in a solo shot before the girl does. Although you don't get a good shot during the scream, you can tell he is black, has dread like hair and is wearing the same clothes (black horizontally striped shirt and brown leather jacket) as the kid from the solo shot. How does nobody know the name of one of the most famous voices in video game history?
That "puny kid" was the 1st voice I remember when I first watched this commercial. I felt a little dismayed that the 2nd voice (the deeper one) was the only one that ascended this commercial and deeper into the mythos. Wait, I take that back... The techno rhythm playing at the end of the segment I suspect became the inspiration for Techno Syndrome (the song usually assumed to be the Mortal Kombat theme). "Puny kid" needs a comeback.
The guy you are looking for is Maurice Engelen, who was a part of The Immortals, he shouted Mortal Kombat. And that kid shouting wasn't an inspiration for Techno Syndrome, because first version of MK Theme was called Hypnotic House, that was made for Sega CD commercial of MK1, which came first (go check it out, it's really good). It just so happens Techno Syndrome was chosen for the movie and is incorrecty refered as the original. But yes. Techno Syndrome is better. Also both version have 7" and 12" mixes, where 12 ones are extended.
Same here!!!! And with Liu Kang the Shaolin Dragon now a Earthrealm Fire God in the new Mortal Kombat era, things are gonna get EVEN MORE AWESOME SAUCE!!!!!👒🗡️🐉🎮😎👍
I remember...being 10 years old before this launch happened. I remember grabbing a VHS tape and waiting for this commercial to come on again after being mesmerized by it, so I could tape it and rewatch it as many times as my little gamer heart pleases. Lol. I finally did catch it and recorded it. I remember I kept rewinding it so many times, my dad told me, "enough!" I'm sure hearing the "MORTAL KOMBAT!!" yell for the 15th time got old to my dad. Good, innocent times in the gaming world then.
actually, if my sources aren lying, the commercial theme was popular track, played at many nightclubs at that time. Thus, it was noticed, and used. And when things comes up to MK movie in 1996, same team, that released initial track, rewoeked it so it will be fitting the movie. Thus, this mk ost has its story, and its popularity wasnt complete accident - it based on it initial succefully writen hit theme, approved by the time itself. So, reworked, it was destined to became a hit too.
Man I remember seeing this commercial for the first time and begging my mom to let me rent it from Blockbusters at some point after it came out. Me and my brothers were running through the streets screaming MORTAL KOMBATTTT! Good times. Life was stress free ugh! Lol
I was 7 and that was the last year I remember a blockbuster location being opened (at least nearby) and I’d get games to play on my Ps2. I was just old enough to remember, but not really, the phasing out of those consoles which I enjoyed more than games these days tbh 😂
omg I remember staring at the tv in a total daze. this was such a big part of my childhood. we went to the arcade and spent so much playing this game. wow the memories
