MK1 is clearly trying to go for a more simple look that aligns with how the OG Mortal Kombat game was. Characters are younger, less experienced, and so it reflects in their overall designs. I personally think it sets a good foundation for the next MK games design wise. MK11 still looks fantastic but that is what that timelines peak MK design looked like. This new reset will have its own peak design later in the franchise which is exciting.
mk11 looks objectively superior. Better lighting, better textures. I’d like to think MK1 looks poorer due to inexperience with the new engine and art style but time will tell with their next instalment

Best way for me to put it: MK11 is my favorite fighter of all time. I have MK1 as well. Both are gorgeous-MK11 is like a high production value film with top notch lifelike character models, costumes and textures. MK1 is like a high production value vibrant stylized comic book where the characters jump off the page in vibrancy.. Both work for me, but for now MK11 is still my favorite of all time. That game is an anomaly til this day.

I think the biggest problem with MK1 character models is over-saturation of skin. For instance, at 3:47, MK11 Rain has more shadows, despite his outfit not having a hood. On the other hand, MK1 Rain’s face is clearly visible while wearing a large hood that should surely convey more shadow. Throughout the entire video there are multiple instances of this happening, where MK1 characters are just simply oversaturated with light, giving the character models a cheap, cartoonish, feel. This problem extends even further upon closer inspection, as MK1 models convey seemingly lesser detail in some aspects due to a lack of shadow that would otherwise emphasize certain characteristics. Examples being muscular definition, hoods, clothing, facial features, hair, and weaponry, all important facets of a detailed and satisfying fighting game artstyle. Despite these issues, I must say the animation work all around in MK1 is vastly superior, with facial animation and combos receiving well needed upgrades.
i think its because MK1 has brighter tone than MK11, and its make sense because this time the world is created by Liu Kang. Its just doesn't seems right for our brain because with those brutal fatalities MK should be a dark game.

El hecho de que quizá algunos modelos se ven mejores es por que en el MK1 estan muy inspirados en el primer mortal kombat que salió en los 90's, me gustó mucho ese guiño, yo que disfrute el mk en snes me dio mucha nostalgia :')
This is odd. Mortal Kombat 1 has better suits and hair. But the faces look more real in Mortal Kombat 11. Even when Mortal Kombat 1 tries to get designs more plausible. But the designs of Mortal Kombat 11 has more detailed skins, which makes them look more real. Mortal Kombat 1 isn't actually inferior to Mortal Kombat 11, but it took strange decisions with the designs of the characters.

Simple games now are not allowed to be graphical monsters that's why it looks worse so people have a bigger woww effect by the end of this console life cycle if mk1 would have used all the powers the newer consoles can handle it would look way better but then there is no real "improvement" on the next game in the series after that on this generation. So basically mk 12 or 13 or whatever would look the same that's why.
Personally, I like the picture better from MK11, the picture is more realistic, the skin tone is correct and in MK1 the skin is overexposed, in MK1 the physics of hair movement and small details on clothes are better, but the faces themselves are more realistic in MK11 in my opinion! Some kind of downgrading)))
possibly unpopular opinion but the gap doesn't seem that big between games and honestly? there's a bunch of instances where MK11 seems to look superior
1's graphics are better overall but they went with a more stylized art direction. Not sure why... maybe the info of the devs being traumatised with 11's development made them go in a more stylized direction
MK11 looks amazing but we cant deny MK1 character models look great! I personally like the simplicity and fluidity on the animations of the new character models from MK1.
I've got a mixed feeling about this, they both look absolutely amazing... but I think MK11 does look a bit more realistic... while MK11 runs on UE3 and MK1 on UE4, shows how impressive UE3 actually was.
All the characters from MK 11 feels more realistic. I don't know if it's the soft skin of MK 1 makes them less realistic or the over saturation... but I can feel something is off in MK 1 that makes MK 11 looks better
Maybe the small improvements was because they were aiming for a broad level of support although strange that it's coming to Switch and not PS4 and Xbox One
I feel like it's a small improvement because they don't want to go any further in terms of realism... This new game has some fatalities that honestly seem a little too real. If the graphics get any more realistic, we'd basically be playing a straight up cartel simulator...
MK11 - Better and more intricate storyline progression & development - Solid Character Design MK1 - Character Building (rebuilding) & Development focused storyline - More Grounded Character Design MK11 definitely has a better storyline since it's less focused on building characters, and more on the intricacies of the storyline, they are using preexisting character in their storyline be it old or new, and therefore by just upgrading on the existing design of the established characters. however since MK1 is basically a timeline reset, Netherealm Studios are focusing on the building (rebuilding) and Introducing (reintroducing) the character from scratch, that's why it felt more grounded since they are crafting a new background for each character. personally i like MK11 character design more, they have more personality and unique look, the culmination of all Mortal Kombat history, the peak of design. where as i said MK1 has a more grounded character design to be more realistic.

Las expresiones faciales y la animación de mk1 son superiores en todo el sentido . Pero comparar un modelado realista con uno que no es realista es como decir que una película de Pixar es inferior a una de final fantasy porque tienen un modelado diferente .
For anyone complaint, MK11 art direction went more of a realistic approach, meanwhile MK1 more of a semi realistic one. In MK11 they used the face model 1:1, meanwhile in MK1 they probably just using model face as reference, then started designing by their own. For resolution and ray tracing, MK1 is bigger, higher, and better, much much better. For art directing, MK11 is realistic, MK1 is semi realistic.
Mk11 definitely had the best graphics for a fighting game at the time they all looked badass but I like the simplicity of the characters in Mk1 just because they can show more character and emotion. Also, ppl tripping ab mk11 being better mk1 has drastically smoother visuals.
The jump from MK11 to MK1 is very tame compared to, say, MK9 to MKX, and they're going for a different feel for the new game, so I think that ultimately, this is a matter of individual players' tastes and preferences. Now _I_ personally, I've always been more biased for a brighter, more colorful aesthetic over a darker palette (for example, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker over its successor, Twilight Princess), so MK1's aesthetic and design choices definitely resonates more strongly with me. Not that this is saying that I don't like MK11's own aesthetics, however; it simply appeals to my tastes less because of it being, well, darker and grittier (for lack of a better word).

Siento que se tratan de acercas mas a un físico más realista, en mk11 aunque muchos personajes si se ven más chingones, casi todos tienen cuerpos muy inchados, como de complexión robusta, ojo la mayoe parte, mas que nada los que obviamente son robustos por ser maestros de artes marciales, pero ay personajes como shang tsung que son mas de magia y así, ahi si ciento que me gusta mas el fisico de mk1, pero te digo es en pocos casos, ay unos que se ven mejor en mk11 y otros en mk1, por otro lado pos las mujeres si se les ve menos sexualizadas más que nada para acercase más al estatus de mujeres con ese tipo de cuerpo, en mk9 todas tenian super tetas jajaja, pero con cada juego le fueron bajando, un poco, aparte más que nada por miedo a que los funen

Dificil que superen el diseño de mk11 porque estan casi perfectos, es el pináculo en cuanto a diseño de personajes de los mk, me gusta mucho mas el carisma de los personajes en mk11, cada personaje encaja muy bien con su rol, shao khan intimidante imponente, skorpion su rostro esta perfecto, jhony cage obra maestra, etc Aquí la mayoría de personajes muestran una sonrisita que me molesta, parecen todos jovenes y arrogantes, el rococo en sus ropas abunda y apesta no se si es porque se estan adaptando a publico nuevo tematica selfie instagram egocentrismo y esa basura. Solo rescato a baraka y jax, que no estan mal aquí en esta entrega, se parecen bastante a los originales
Los personajes de MK1 se ven así porque precisamente está ambientado en una época sin tanta tecnología, que a su vez hace referencia al primer Mortal Kombat de los 90's, de hecho los diseños son prácticamente una copia/inspiración del mismo

I too have thought that MK11 has more skin details so the faces look more detailed...but now I realized, no, Mk11-s characters are simply older, so have more wrinkles and skin-imperfections. MK1-s characters are young, their skin smoother and all that.
and some say MK1 cant be on PS4, they just chose not to in order to push sales on current gen, little do they know it wouldve sold more across last gen and current (MK1 runs on Unreal Engine 4, not 5)
This video proves that we have reached the peak of graphics capacity. mk11 a five year old game looks identical to a game that just came out in 2023. The only limitations now are human imagination and creativity. I honestly cannot see video game graphics exceeding this

All the humans in MK1 have baby eyes with extra smooth faces, like skinny college students who never had a difficulty in life ....... they're all cute wtf lol . Even the stages are cute ...
I don't know what to think about MK1 but I'm not convinced. MK11 Characters are still good. Ed Boon what have you done !!! In my opinion: - Scorpion - looks like some boy next to the old one! - Subzero - basically a reskin of the Scorpion, but the kameo mask is ugly! - Sindel - looks good, reminds a little classic, the earlier one had a dark, disturbing face, - Baraka - here is generally good, - Kitana - is great, a character that looks better than the previous one, - Mileena - looks better than the previous one, but lacks the wild look, - Rain - another reskinning of Scorpion with the face of a high school student, - Geras - looks bad, lightened skin color spoiled a lot, - Shang Tsung - face has been replaced with a youthful and silly grin, I'm against it, - Shao - looks good too, - Raiden - I always saw him as a mentor figure, now another student, - Liu Kang - a little rejuvenated, it's not bad, - Cage - Johnny is the kind of character that always looks good :) - Kung Lao - the same as Raiden young student! - Kano - what did you do with my boy....? - Sonya - is good, I have déjà vu from the first MK1, - Frost - a little different, neither better nor worse, - Jax - now he looks like he eats burgers every day - his mouth is like a monkey's WTF ?
I do like the comparison of what they look like when they are in their 20s to late 30s. Plus this is lui Kangs era of peace. So the of course the lighting is gonna be bright alil.

MK11 > Mk1 allll day. Mk11 is darker, grittier, realistic, better customization, intros, outros, etc etc etc. MK1 isn't bad but not a fan of the more arcade look.
Mortal Kombat 11 sin duda tiene unos acabados impresionantes, la calidad de los modelados, materiales y texturas lucen muy bien, solo con ver la nitidez, contraste y como los materiales lucen con el skybox/iluminación. Siento que tiene mejor trabajado ese aspecto a comparación del nuevo título, donde por alguna razón los modelados se ven más con colores pálidos u opacos y los personajes a nivel de rostro, piel y vestimenta no lucen tan detallados, como que se ve "demasiado claro" todo en lugar de verse una iluminación más natural (como en MK11) Otro pero que le pongo a los modelados de MK1 es que parece que usaron el mismo rostro de alguna de las actrices para varios de los personajes, porque tienen las mismas facciones y parecen solo el mismo personaje con diferente vestuario, o al menos es lo que percibo
What I really liked in MK 11 was that black is *black*. MK 1 looks like a combination between MK 11's vivid colors and MK X's "dirty" washed out blacks.
What happened to the faces in MK1? Injustice2 and MK11 have amazing facial expresions. Also, the characters all look like cosplayers, I know this is a new universe and all that but the majority of the new designs are simply not good. Where are the muscles? They look like I can beat some of them.
se nota que hicieron el juego pensando en el port del switch. porque el xbox one y ps4 por supuesto pueden correr el mk1, pero querian esos 70 dolares. Jaxx se ve mucho mejor en MK11

Realmente los 2 juegos tienen sus pros y contras con respecto al diseño, MK11 va con sus rasgos faciales y MK1 con sus cuerpos, probablemente los de MK1 sean todos asi en la vida real 🫠
