Goro finishing Art Lean is like the movie version of when you accidentally do a normal strike while trying to do the fatality and it just ends the fight
4:53 Hearing James yell "FUCK YEAH LETS HEAR THAT AGAIN *WITH A TITTLE CARD* " to him recreating the theme song and repeating it again is the best thing 😂 "Yeah that's hot"
Fun fact: Kano was originally not going to have his metal faceplate in the movie. The reason he has it in the movie is because the creators had children review the designs of the characters. When they saw Kano’s original design without the metal faceplate, they started saying over and over again that Kano has a metal faceplate in the games. So now Kano has a metal faceplate thanks to them.
To be fair without the metal plate he just looks like a normal dude generic dude (like most of the non Kano and Kabal Black dragon goons), although I imagine it wasn’t that pleasant to wear for the actor since half his vision was probably obscured
I feel like James’s personality is one of his strongest attributes. Not only is his content really great, but he’s such a nice guy that his fan base is happy to rewatch videos like this
This movie holds a special place in my heart. I was in 2nd grade in 1995, when it came out and got the flu, so my grandma rented the movie for me and I laid in bed and watched it numerous times.
James: "Yeah, the original video got copyright claimed, had to go through and re-edit it -" Viewers, sitting back to watch the video again: "Say no more, gotchu fam."
Honestly I wouldn't mind more Mortal Kombat content from this channel. I love hearing about the lores, character designs, and fatalities from the game series. They always fascinated me.
I agree with James about movie Raiden in terms of characterisation, but highly disagree about the voice. I’m not the first person to say I love it cause it literally sounds like electricity crackles through his veins. That’s why it was awesome they had him return as an alternate skin in MK11, the dialogue is better and his voice has aged in a way that makes the lightning effect even more pronounced.
Raiden is a god, so he can take on any human appearance or form. I see no problem with him being played by a European actor. Now Sub-Zero and Scorpion, on the other hand. Still, at least they knew how to fight, so that's good.
James: **recreates the soundtrack on saxophone to avoid copyright claim** Also James: **has to cut the sax parts to avoid copyright claim** Edit: I really wanna eat that cheese at 12:32
I loved Christopher Lambert's performance in this movie.. he was just perfect, imho. His laugh sounded kinda sinister, which echoes the struggle of the video game character of being a good or a bad guy. You know.. the whole evil Raiden thing, red eyes, etc. Hell, even the whole cast was damn good. They were like made for this. Too bad that the sequel wasnt as good as this one. :
Yeah, the sequel was absolute garbage. I don't know how Anderson screwed up so bad having made a faithful adaptation as the first film. Even worse, this trend of changing the source material continued in his Resident Evil movie series, yikes.
Can't believe they just killed off my guy Art Lean without any fanfare. Dude didn't even get mentioned in the sequel. RIP Art Lean. Right up there with legends like John Esponga.
I knew I'd seen and liked this video before... Had it only been a dream? Had it been an alcohol induced illusion? I didn't know. I saw the thumbnail and it said: "uploaded 2 hours ago". I feared for my mental health as I could SWEAR I'd watched and liked this video before. In terror, I ignored it, I watched other videos in vain and tried to forget that time-stamp, but it never left my mind... Had I watched it? Had I actually experienced a Mortal Kombat (1995) Kill Count? I see it over, and over in my recommended videos; it calls to me. While I watch a completely unrelated video, there it lies: "2 days ago". Did I travel through time and space and watch it two weeks ahead of its release? Has time just followed me, as I have followed it throughout my life? Oh... Ohhhhhhhhh... Nah, it's just copyright stuff... Existensial dread averted :D
Ya know, I’ve been screaming to the universe, “Release the Sax cut!!” And my wishes were granted! Don’t worry my guy, I’ve got work to do today, so I’ll just have it muted on repeated, and watch the ads!
Mortal Kombat was my all time favorite movie as a kid and still holds a special spot in my heart. Also really dig all the WWE references. This kill count really brought me back to my childhood
ive rewatched just about every kill count there is lol, cant get enough of these videos, sometimes ill watch them on theyre own, sometimes i will have them on my second monitor while im playing games, and sometimes ill listen to them when i go to bed
@@JsteveIsMe yeah agreed :( it does to a certain extent, but they need to watch a certain amount of the video and also it stops counting after a certain amount (idk the specifics)
15:40 - Trevor Goddard did NOT take his own life. It was an accidental overdose of painkillers, which he needed because he padded his acting income as an amateur kickboxer.
Looking at James' face and body language just goes to show RU-vid was the real Shang Tsung all along. Straight up took James' soul. But I'ma watch this again anyways cause we all love Dead Meat's work. :]
The Kung Lao that he’s referring to isn’t his brother, but rather the “Great Kung Lao,” who competed against Goro and died in the very first of the ten tournaments. So, even though that lineage is never explored in the film, it is explicitly stated in the opening text for the original arcade MK.
@@dustinray1694 Technically, I wouldn’t say he died (unless you played the Kung Lao Ending against Kronika in MK11) So I would say he died, and he didnt
@@dustixo Canonically I’m sure he’ll always be the one to perish in the battle against goro, only because the modern Kung Lao wouldn’t have his motivation to be in the tournament otherwise. Though I’m always open to those “what if” storylines :)
Loved this movie as a 10 year old in 1995. Though I found it quite different from the game the characters really grew on me. Even Christopher Lambert as Raiden.
My Uncle worked on the CGI in this movie and apparently one of his coworkers had to spend painful amounts of hours adjusting Goro’s abs in the new movie. Just a quick fact nobody asked for.
@@bxsy6969 if that’s sarcasm then is it really that unrealistic to assume that visual effects, a normal job that lots of people have, was one of the 452 people that did the CGI on this ONE movie?
LETS GO SAXOPHONE JAMES!!!!! Edit: Also seriously. Most youtubers would’ve just reuploaded with random muted points so the effort you put into this makes it worth another watch.
Honestly, to me, this one of the most perfect movies. No I'm not joking. I am a very big fan of the MK series. MK2 is one of my favorite games of all time due to the commonly known fact that the AI is broken, therefore the game is super easy & yet will beat you down at random (in my experience). It's 90's corny but I'm a 90's kid so it fits. The story, though not entirely kept up with the game, EVERYBODY can watch & understand what's going on. I didn't watch Highlander until literally decades later so Chris, in my opinion was AWESOME as Raidon & is rasp was/is what made him unique & therefore I really liked him. Art's presents wasn't strong enough to "distract" the audience to the point where someone who's not familiar with MK almost won't ask how he's involved in the game. The music worked. The acting & jokes worked. When I hear the Reptile sound bite I lose my sh**. I loved who they cast. And as was said in this YT vid, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa is & will FOREVER be the best Shang Tsung. Everybody is a fan, rightfully so, of, "your soul is mine." Mine is when he says, "Fatality." That single word could've gone horribly wrong in so many ways (to the point of too corny even for the 90's) but Cary-Hiroyuki pulled it off as best as ANYONE could. Look, even after I just kissed this movies butt, I completely understand why people have thier complaints & criticisms. I really do. However the way this was executed, even minus the extreme violence, I personally think this works. Especially for a game-movie. It's almost it's own thing (maybe a spiritual successor in some odd ways due to entertainment medium) but I just love it. I love how they keep Shao a sort of mystery till the end. I love how EVERY character, especially Chan & Art DON'T overstay their welcome. Can you imagine if this movie was written poorly. An example is, Chan would've been trained by Liu Kang to become champion & Art could've just been Jax but just by simple name change. I could see that happening today & that kind of stuff would've pissed me right off as a fan, but it didn't. It did what it did with what it could & I think it's an overall fun & charming blast from the 90's. Great count Dead Meat. I'll see you on the next adventure.
Alright boys we all know what to do.... *LET'S MAKE THIS REUPLOAD VID REACHED THE USUAL 2.5 MILLION VIEWS IN LESS THAN A WEEK TO MAKE OUR MAN JAMES HAPPY AGAIN*
