I can't believe after all these years, this is the first time I've seen a sprite comparison for MK3 snes/gen/arcade. Nice video actually, some interesting differences.
Some of these comments must be from blind ppl..the sega version's sprites are better and animated better with the snes winning obviously on the versus screen. Fanboys...smh
The reason the genesis version of MK 3 looks good as opposed to MK 1 and MK 2 was because Sculptured Software developed it who developed the SNES versions of MK 1, 2, 3. Those guys knew how to program the game properly.
The guys in the graphics department of sculptured software were good. And were a little bit audacious too because they tried and fixed things that were already the same in the original. But MK1 was a disaster in terms of gameplay. I kinda showed my point on this matter on my latest vídeo if you want to take a look. I called this exactly a paradox when you spend time and resources fixing graphic details and forget about the core gameplay of the game.
Honestly back then, you couldn’t really go wrong with either port. Obviously the arcade is going to look the best, but both 16 bit versions play phenomenally. Just make sure you have the 6 button pad for Genesis.
The arcade version looked way better so much more clear and more detail and colors. You don't really miss that much with either console because you really don't zoom in and stare at it while your playing, it's always pretty fast.
These who worked at the Genesis vs bg, they had less color to work with and they increased the dark-white range on grey gradient and try to save it with dithering. Just keep the original range geniuses.
hubo un trabajo de manipulacion de algunos sprites en las consolas, no fueron pasados " directamente " reduciendo la calidad y cantidad de sprites, sino que se retoco algunas cosas, se puede notar en el stand de jax por ejemplo, la cara es la misma en todos los sprites del stand, en la version sega, en la de super nintendo tiene movimiento...en MK2 era al reves, en super nintendo retocaron la cara de varios chars, dejando el mismo sprite en todo el stand...en MK1 no paso esto.
Arcade wins! The Genesis version does have higher resolution than the SNES, but the color palettes are uglier. So...the SNES version looks better overall and sounds and controls better, but the Genesis version is smoother and plays faster.

Haha console Cyrax codename should be wasabi instead of "mustard". TBH both console version sprites are bad, folks saying the Genesis has more animation frames but not by that much both are pretty jerky compared to the arcade, in fact the Genesis version seems sped up to hide the missing animations and neither can do shadows.
George Symeon are you blind? The SNES sprites have the shortest frames, less animation to the Genesis and Arcade. Some sprites don't even look correct. Look at Stryker's face on SNES. The low resolution is very apparent.
Giovanni Rotino are you? Look at the few movements of the sprites on the SNES compared to the Genesis. Look at the lower resolution textures. Stryker is a good example. His face looks unrecognizable on the SNES sprite compared to the Genesis and Arcade.
looks like sega and snes reaolution was same but sega opted into a bi near filter to smooth it out but in that process it loses a bit detail thats why snes looks bettee but more pixellated on the ends
