Deception and Armageddon did a fantastic job at taking some of the older stages and adapting them to fit into the 3d engine with deathtraps and stuff to knock the opponent into!
I wish that all new games had the option to play the older soundtracks like smash bros does. Those early mortal Kombat themes are still fire and bring back good memories.
you reminded me that Mk9 had kombat codes to play the classic stage music (if you had the mod MK9 Trilogy Edition, it made the classic themes the default)
@@Soap029 personally, i think so. besides replacing most stages with classic MK music, it rebalances the game. fixes broken/busted tags and infinites, but adds new kombos to compensate
@@TheMarioMan247 thanks for the info. I'm playing v1.07 (cracked) from steam. Do you have the game on pc maybe we could play on parsec?. The songs in the trilogy mod are kinda lame to me lmao. I do like the old mk games 😁
Fun fact: Before MK9, the Pit I and Pit II were different locations, one in Shang Tsung's island, the other in Outworld. Armageddon has a stage called Meteor Storm that you can see Pit II in the background.
Most people doesn't know this but the Pit 3 was the stage when Kahn fortress was still intact whereas the Hidden Portal was the stage when Kahn's fortress got destroy. The bridge is still there but everywhere was ruin and you can see ruin towers in the background. The fact that you don't see the red portal was cause when Kahn's fortress was still intact, the walls block it from view. When the fortress got destroy all that's left was ruin and the portal looming in the background. This is also why you can't access the Hidden Portal stage in MK3 cause the Pit 3 was still intact.
If you look at the pit in MK9 and zoom in you'll see Frost and Daegon fighting, although Frost wouldn't be introduced into the story in the Netherrealm Studios timeline until the next game, MKX
The living forest was always a really cool stage i always thought it should have a fatality where the trees eat you im glad the later version of the stage had that
One of the best MK videos ever ! Seriously, this seems to have a lot of work put into it, from gathering the stages that are the same, or resemble the same arena, to putting the same characters against each other, the transition etc...
All of these comparison videos look like memes of friends that go dancing with each other at different clubs through the years....they may be older, but the spirit is still there
The 2D MK games were easy to pick up and play and had super nice graphics. I stopped playing after MK4. But MK9 was nice, MKX was impressive, & beyond that the MK games have graphics that are incredible
I like the video, but people need to understant The Pit and The Pit 2 are different stages. Pit 1 is in Shang Tsung island and Pit 2 is in Outworld. We also have Pit 3 in Earth.
While that is true, later MK games, such as 9, X, and 11 all combined the two Pits into one. It's located on Shang Tsung's Island, but it looks like the one from Outworld. So it's pretty understandable why people would think it's the same place, as MK2 is the only time Pit 2 has ever appeared Another way you can tell the difference: Pit 1 has spikes at the bottom, Pit 2 doesn't. And all of the 3D Pits have spikes at the bottom, showing that while they look like Pit 2, they're actually Pit 1
Probably the only one who feels this way but i wish they never merged pit 1 and 2 together for the mk2011 and mkx. Always loved how rhe original mk 1992 pit stage looked and wish they kept that style for the reboot
@isaacmendes1926 Johnny Cage's chapter in the story mode shows that the Pit is on Shang Tsung's Island in MK9. Mix that with the fact that the secret boss version of Reptile is unlocked similarly to MK 1992's method and you get the fact that it's at least Pit 1. Then you factor in the fighters in the background and the more blue atmosphere in MKX and you can see that it also has elements of Pit 2. As such, that's why the general consensus is that they merged Pit 1 and 2 together for NRS Pit.
There's something special about the sheer amount of effort that went into the original MK. They just went bananas. The way they bothered to animate the lightning bouncing around Raiden with matching sounds is crazy. Seeing his spirite in MK2 directly after is depressing asl. Edit: I can't get over the difference. His MK1 sprite has 2 white pixels for eyes. MK2 hides all of his facial features.
I'm not sure there was one time I thought the music was better on modern games vs MK1, 2, or 3. It also shows how over-designed modern MK became in some ways. Old MK was just way more practical and grounded. I still think the original Trilogy is the best.
@@tamagotchiil I'll give it credit for trying to go back to the original trilogy's style. Character designs were kind of wack, though, especially the women. They look like a kid's drawing, lol. Sticks with big ball boobs.
Man I didn’t realize how barebones some of the PS2/XBOX era stages were. I played that game so much and thought it was the pinnacle of graphics and looking back, it was so barren and empty in the stages lmao. Still an amazing game!
I like the ones that manage to feel dark and lively without being too overdesigned. For me the best versions are Classic: Palace Gates, The Tower, Living Forest, Kahn's Throne, Desert, Kahn's Arena, Belltower, Destroyed City 3D: Goro's Lair, Armory, Portal 1&2, Temple NetherRealm: The Pit, Courtyard, Throne Room, Wastelands, Dead Pool, Rooftop, Subway, Graveyard, Soul Chamber, Hell
The mk2 "Deadpool" theme will live inside my head rent free for the rest of my life. And also i love the "living forest" theme remained the same throughout the years. MK forever, suckers. "Get over here!!!" 💀
He told you, if you make another of these videos make sure you put all the Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks arenas, there were also some Mortal Kombat Deception arenas that you didn't add. There is also a mortal kombat armageddon arena which is where various fans revolve and you did not add. And in case you didn't notice the arenas of mortal Kombat shaolin monks I found them In versus mode and Also when you do the smoke missions,
i realised the MK2 and MK3 stages are way better something about that art and the layouts are perfect and the newer 3D versions just dont have that same vibe
MK2 remains one of the best fighting games ever made all round and is still the best MK game, MK3 is second. great character design, great art design, great music, great gameplay. all the 3D games that came after are junk up until recently when they started to gain some traction. but there's still something with the gameplay that feels off, movements are stiff, and the hits are unimpactful, something that most other fighting games are doing much better.
You missed Scorpion's Lair stage from MK Gold. Also, the Waterfront stage from MK3 is not the same to those from MK9 and MKX. The same with Prison stage from MK4. It is not similar to Lin Kuei Assembly from MK11, cause it is clearly different stages. And the same with Red Dragon Cavenrs and Black Dragon Fight Club. Like, come on! They are not the same stages. Also, again, you could include version of these stages from MK Mythologies, Shaolin Monks and MK vs DC for the full picture of it.
The games used to have such a creepy/mysterious art style and world, it felt massive and foreign, NRS titles are just military v demons, it's the same thing in every game
@@tamagotchiil The graphics are better now, but how can digitized photography of actual human beings not look the most realistic, lol? Fix your eyes, man.
Those 3d graphics are really doing a disservice to the MK atmosphere and feel, i wish they can go back to the realistic rendering with how far tecnoligy has come they can make something really special.
While not a prude, first thing I noticed was Mileenas outfit differences from the human actor wearing somewhat sensible clothing to a later scantily clad graphics based model. 😂 Such a trope lol
