The Arthurian Legends were greatly embellished by Malory and especially by Tennyson in "The Idylls of a King".
The plot thickened, Lancelot fell for Guinevere who also fell for him. However: "His Honour rooted in Dishonour stood and Faith Unfaithful kept him Falsely True."
What's it all about, Alfie?

One of the greatest poems in the English language!

This was truly breathe taking. I have become an instant fan of Lord Tennyson, such depth in human emotion captured in the rhythmic flow of verbal exposition. I found myself replaying Morte D'Arthur over again

I read everything in this SpokenVerse channel, calling myself Tom O'Bedlam here. There are over 1000 more readings. I hope you'll find time to listen to a few more.

@Myklett Thank you for your kind words. Recording the poem and creating the video are separate processes, so I'm usually not reading the same text that I copy and paste. Later I became more vigilant, finding that poems on the web often contain errors. Errors can't be fixed without reposting the poem - which sacrifices the comments, history, links and outside references. I have pasted an annotation over the error.

@VelvetRing This was written by Lord Tennyson not Thomas Malory.

@SpokenVerse Many thanks for your reply. Yes, I too have found quite a few errors in web texts - once a whole verse went missing from "The Lady of Shalott"! Maybe scanning from a proper poetry book would at least give one a fighting chance. Anyway, I do appreciate the problems of making post production alterations, and it simply isn't worth it just to keep pedants like me at bay! Good luck with your future work, and keep it coming - your audience clearly values your efforts!

I love your reading (and not only for this poem), and I'm really sorry to pick nits, but in search of perfection, I think that the printed text of verse 2 should be amended to read "one summer noon, an arm rose up from out the bosom of the lake," not "and arm" . You have of course use this reading in your performance. (There is a similar typo in Bedivere's description of what he saw when he finally managed to throw Excalibur.)

You sound just like Richard Burton.
