The rawkus era was so freaking beautiful. It was the answer to commercial hip hop. I envy anybody that got to see black star live in the early 00s, consider yourself lucky.
I was right there in the front row rockin a bucket hat, in front of the dude with the bow tie, I was 17 at the time, this was one of my favorite shows cause Zion I, Dilated Peoples & Jurassic 5 rocked that day too, I remember having posters for this concert it was a benefit for Jamil Al-Amin. thank you xylophonistic for bringing back some good memories. .LA
I was at this show along with my b-boy crew bad news bears. I was sooo high this day and not just from the herbs. All the emcees rocked the show but what you can’t hear is a lot of people there were raping along to Definition. Black Star was an underground east coast group but Rawkus brought that out all the way out here to the west cus we recognize the real. Such a dope time.

I only got to see Black Star perform once at Toad's Place in New Haven, I believe it was 2006. One of the greatest days of my life. Theyhad a party meet and greet after, Mos didn't go but Talib did.
