The latest Palette technology. Print multi-material creations using 1 extruder!
Colorful: print objects in brilliant color using 4+ colors of PLA, ABS, PETG, TPU
Soluble: print impossible overhangs with most soluble supports like PVA, PVOH, HIPS
Flexible: create functional, end-use products by combining PLA with flexible filaments
Compatible with large majority of 1.75 printers: Raise3D, MakerGear, Ender 3, CR-10, Prusa, Robo, gCreate, Printrbot, SeeMeCNC, Wanhao, TEVO, Anet, RepRap, and more!
Palette 2 combines 4 filaments and feeds them into your printer in real time. No modifications required. Palette 2 splices together filament and feeds it to your printer in real time! includes 9-month or 25, 000 splice (whichever comes first). Reliable usage of Palette 2 requires a 3D printer that extrudes effectively

Best video on the Palette 2 I"ve seen yet. Thank you for the video. Would love to see more. I did a quick check and there is supposed to be an option to transition to infill in canvas that should help lighten up the purge block.

yea totally, got my mmu2s running and when i see this here i made the right choice, the purge blocks are gigantic and as we can see with the yellow/black splice error one small mistake completely ruins the print. The MMU is not perfect for sure but it knows when there is an issue and you got options to recover from these problems.

You used 48meters for the print in total, could you slice that in a different slicer(not canvas) to see how much the model itself should use? And tell use how much is for the purge and how much for the globe.

I guess your bleeds are because you turned the KNOB when defining the tube lenght it seems that the palette should do that with the slicer. just my thoughts

I think that sleeping and stopping of the printer is what the palette is using to get in sync with the printer.

Drying your filament would probably help. PLA that has absorbed water from the air gets pretty brittle

I just finished watching you video of setting up the Palette 2. Could you provide a link for the attachment for your extruder where you simply screw the filament tube into the Ender printer? Also, could you provide a link where I can buy same GoPro camera and the lens attachment you used. Thanks, Richard

Menwhile, you can use the infill for color change, that reduces the issue a little.... otherwise print multiple copies in one print is the same amount. By the way, if you drive your car, you wasting fuel, just to go somewhere... :-)

@icenesiswayons9962

Fascinating but really wasteful. Can you choose the size of the purge block? It just seems to be a bit bloated for what it's job is. You would think that since it know the tubes length that it could calculate enough for color change then use the purge block for combing after color change. Good video. Nice prints. Hope they get better for you. I'll be watching and learning.:-) :-)
@IraQNid
@IraQNid 4 года назад
Why do you have to use solid colors for the infill? Like green inside of it when you're only going to see that on the outside? There is your wasted material and time. Can the purge function make deposits as the infill itself? Nobody is going to see inside the prints unless you're using a transparent filament.

Like a cool idea but I don't like the purge blocks seems like such a waste. Why no option to have it so you could set it up in the software to create something useful that you don't care what the color is instead of purge block

When a device that you haven't even connected to the internet says that new firmware is available the second you turn it on for the first time. It's quite likely that it doesn't have any firmware on it, it's not usable until you put the firmware onto it. It's not got some kind of magic internet connection.

@drxym

Interesting concept but monstrously complicated. I assume that there has to be huge runoff on either side of the splice and a waste dump in the gcode to ensure that the colour coming out is the expected one at the time it is extruded onto the real model. It might work better if 3D printers integrated this into themselves and if there were some kind of encoding scratches placed onto the filament that could be scanned to decide what colour was coming out and events like begin / end ranges.

Does the model you are printing have to be designed for multi color, or can I download let’s say a car, can I make the body red and the wheels black, just a little confused, thanks for the video.👍
@JustVlads
@JustVlads 5 лет назад
At this point yes it has to have separate parts and then combined together to have multicolored. Eventually canvas will have a feature where you can paint on the color you want on the model. So an existing model would need to be modified into separate pieces for individual colors.
