Moscow Police Capt. Roger Lanier explains why the investigation is seeking a white 2011-2013 Hyundai Elantra after the quadruple homicide of University of Idaho students more than a month ago.
God bless you Moscow PD. It has to be so hard and heart breaking, keep your heart guarded, this is not easy. You will solve this, and justice will be done , justice will come to these kids and the families. All the heart feels to you and families.
Well by everyone BUT the family! The family is everywhere saying horrible things about this police who are trying to solve an extremely difficult case.
@@saundrarichardson6915 YES!! I so agree with you. They are on everything from fox news to CNN & odd but the daughter on immediately following the murder of her sister! And no wonder the police are shutting down what they tell these people bc they blab it & more everywhere...in some cases they were NOT truthful. I live in Idaho & I will be glad when this is solved.
@Truthwillwin LOL, NOW HOW DO YOU FEEL DUMB SH*T! YOU... were wrong about LE, I knew they would solve this! GOD BLESS LE AND ALL THAT SOLVED THIS. Maybe check yourself before saying mean comments and being rude to people. Just say'in.....
There was a knife attack in a Washington casino where several people were attacked by a man with a knife and he fled the area in a white car and was caught. I wonder if they are looking at this guy.
@@KissesFromCanada pull it up bc it wasn't even a week ago. The attacks were unprovoked & he used the same type of knife on SEVERAL people in the casino than ran out & attacked another. He fled in a white car but was caught & in custody. The casino is tribal on tribal land in Washington.
Good idea!!! A cop told me that Dash cam footage is only available while the car is running!!! I thought it could be running if the car was off too but idk
My only question regarding the car (2011-2013 Hyundai Elantra): How do they know it's an Elantra? If they have photo or video evidence the entirety of it should be shown. There are many similar 4 door cars like the Elantra, Subaru Impreza, Honda Accord, and Chrysler 200.
What a pack of lies?? Moscow PD didn't collect videos from businesses and outlying areas until 8 to 9 days AFTER the murders. Case in point, the video from the mart that is only 1.2 miles from the murder scene. How long did it take for law enforcement to contact them? Never, the asst. manager is the one who contacted the police. These cops have no idea what they are doing.
I know right? Getting security footage from local businesses at the time of the murder is just common sense.these people are supposed to have professional detectives and it never occurred to them to check security footage from a store about a mile away or any other business?
I get what you’re saying but they have a shit ton of resources and amazing minds working this case including BAU agents from the fbi and also more than 10 detectives from the state so I think they have a lot better chance that the news.. lol
The police have been asking for any videos, information, leads anything suspicious. What maybe alarming to many is in 2020 the rate of solved murders was around 50%. With cell phones, cameras, social media this statistic is alarming Back in the early 80's with far, far less technology 70% were solved. Even though it is pretty early in the investigation, I can understand people's concerns.
around 2000 a federal court ruled it perfectly fine and not considered discrimination for law enforcement to use an IQ test in their hiring process to weed out any applicant with an IQ above average...
This case has grabbed the nation. We all want it solved yesterday, I can see that the police have so much information to weed through, unless this person turns themselves in, it will take time to get to the truth and have iron clad evidence to make the charges stick.
Sad thing about it being a college town is the increase in out of state vehicles that might be overlooked. Student Parking often has registries, but not if someone lives off campus and walks/bikes/carpools, etc.
@@mattmarzula I agree. For the police to find this car, they have a lot stacked against them is what I meant. I don’t think this is the suspect vehicle.
Think the car was seen near some victims prior to the murder not sure if it food truck or club area or maybe earlier places which they may have visited.
This crime would overwhelm anyone. A small force like Moscow PD is fighting innumerable challenges, but they brought in the right help and have been doing the right things. With DNA and 4D video, I believe the killer will be caught. But I also understand that this takes time, and in some ways, the LESS we hear, the better! RIP UI FOUR
News media should send out an automatic message for the public to download and hold on to any surveillance video that recorded up to 24 hours, or something, either side of the time of the crime in a certain mile radius. It should be built in as protocol. Then if LE need it they can retrieve it.
Not really they took a month to ask for video footage and of course it was already gone. They are just throwing out the 22,000 number to make it seem like a lot of work. Either to make the real suspect let his guard down, or if that's their only lead wow they've done nothing. I'd check more cameras just looking for a stolen bike.
@@MICLOFFICIALRU-vid In the early days of the investigation, they said that they were getting hundreds of videos from people's surveillance cameras and from people just shooting video on their phones of whatever was around them. Each of those videos had to be reviewed. All kinds of witnesses were interviewed and likely re-interviewed. I think the Elantra lead came out of that work, and I'm that they spent some time trying to find the Elantra on their own before involving the public because if the killer drove the Elantra, the killer now knows that the Elantra is wanted. I'm sure that they took hundreds of samples from the house, and all of those samples had to be processed. I'm sure that they took hundreds of still pictures in the house in addition to video. All of that would undoubtedly be reviewed. This killer was either skilled or very lucky. There isn't going to be something obvious or the police would have already solved the case. Digging into details takes time. This isn't a TV show where the good guys solve the crime in forty-three minutes of action plus commercials.
@Truthwillwin They obviously looked outside the immediate Moscow area to find 22,000 Elantras. I'm sure that they looked within a several hour driving distance. The chief clearly doesn't have dementia. That people who don't understand the complexities of detailed investigations just don't like him.
There must be rules about these houses with multiple students! A spring door that automatically closes and locks for entry back and front porches and balconies. You must have a key to enter! All bedroom doors must lock and any doors that go to a deck or porch must also be spring doors and automatically lock. All windows that open to rooms holding students will have security alarms and locks that are secured with blocks screwed into slides at a level that no one can come into that room from outside the blocks can only be removed in case of fire! You must have a key On your person for the front door and your room ! You will be responsible for replacing your lock with a new different key if you lose your key and a spare key for the owner! Old keys must be destroyed for old lock. Once a key is lost you are in danger!
I get what you are saying but to make landlords responsible for personal safety is not workable. Crime does not restrict to any address but it does increase with opportunities. You are on the right track - the families and students themselves could put most of your ideas in place. Landlords should be open to tenants making changes - especially for safety- as long as it doesn’t damage the property and can be restored or repairs paid for.
With 22K cars public help is crucial. Killer drives this car, lives somewhere next to someone, go to store - eat, etc., people need to pay attention for their own good and good of others, keep their eyes and mind open - “see something, say something” before the killer will strike again!
These guys need to start doing proper press releases w /various international news outlets and correspondents. These videos are not acceptable for such a high profile crime! Get it together guys!
@Ashley Seeley I respectfully disagree. Society *IS* owed details regarding this case, the details not shared could potentially put other students at risk. I do agree that the outcome should be a conviction. However, the police need to be more forthcoming with evidence, if not for the families' sake
Kia forte looks very similar to that Hyundai Elantra. I hope they know for sure it's an Elantra. That picture I've seen floating around of it from gas station security camera, there's no way u can tell if it's an Elantra. I'd be checking every car make and model that's even remotely close to see if anything matches to a kid that goes there or family members or friends of someone whos connected to that area.
@@ashleyseeley5570 I've only seen one image of the car. From the gas station, I'm not sure what other images have been released but that's the only one I've seen and I just happened to park next to a Kia forte the other night at the gas station by my house and noticed how similar those cars are. I'm not even in that state but to each the same. Everyone is looking for that car unless uve just came out of a coma.
Also wonder what the odds are of someone committing a horrible crime and then going on to speed on a public street (committing another crime)? I have guesses, but I wonder if there are stats about being controlled (or somewhat) in one crime and then going to sloppy/careless. It could be a common thing, I just don't know where to look up info like that.
Could be faking them out acting incompetent like Columbo lol. I really hope they aren't as useless as they seem to be so far. Not getting all footage from local businesses right away is crazy to me.
Have they looked at the parking lot footage from the Pullman University shooting where the guy shot himself and threatened his roommates at 2 or 3 in the morning? Looks to be some white cars with lots of snow on them in the parking lot 1 in particular had lots and lots of snow on it (bottom left corner).
I hope all the haters caught that? Over 22,000 Vehicle Matches to start to narrow down. Sometimes people don't get the volume of EACH piece of these cases can be overwhelming. It's like why doesn't the Chief know every driver of White Elantra's in his town, region, county. Ahhh that is what the data base is for now the time to start sifting. The Public can help. TURN THE PERSON IN. End the Misery. Don't wait for a Reward, you might find yourself in Court, and Prison. If you know who did this and do not come forward there will be serious repercussions of Life, I am sure.
@@Heseesyou Your question is odd I have no idea what you have derived from my statement that lead to it? We have ALL sinned and fallen from the grace of GOD. Only Jesus provides any acceptance of GOD. Fear of The Lord GOD? YES
@@RozJ123 You are a dummy & a Troll. Sorry about your luck. MTO has still got 5 cars registered to me and all of them were made into pop cans over 25 years ago. You are just stupid right? You know nothing but sure talk a big game. I have a Diploma in Law. Where is yours asswipe?
And LE needs to let FBI handle it, because they screwed up so much. Extending the crime scene tape days after, missing the gas station video by 3 days, which their system had only held it for a week. On and On. But yes, Jack D had motive for sure.
This young man is becoming somewhat if an icon. ] Those four youthes tht walked away from the stop drink nearby..who on earth were they? Why is no one eliminating themselves as Alantra owner? Why no stop and search? Recall them mdears@
So all they know is they are looking for a white car? Anyone could have drove this car and it could be anywhere. Itis obvious the driver is not going to turn themselves in, we need more details than this!!
Look over here not over there.. if the devil can't keep you bad, he will keep you busy.. they died in THEIR sins and nobody wants to talk about THAT. John 3:36 - He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.John 3:3 - Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
