I was surprised in Moscow by the amount of free public toilets in the tourist and not only areas. Also they were very clean inside. Usually you have to pay in other cities if you don't stumble upon Mcdonalds or nowadays Tasty Period where you also can do it for free =))

Used to exist here in Sweden, but they have almost entirely disappeared (especially as separate places in parks or at the side of a public square etc). There are some at places like train stations, public libraries etc, but you normally have to pay a small fee to use them - and if you suddenly sense you need to pee, it can be a long way to one of those places. I think public loos were quietly removed because they tended to become dinghy and dirty if they were "unmanned", without any personnel. But it used to work reasonably fine, back in the day.

Yes if in parks but they may be out of toilet paper if you are unlucky, otherwise you have to go into restaurants or stores or service stations and use their toilets and they are all free . We also have portable toilets at special events and parades.🤠 Да, если в парках, но, если вам не повезет, у них может закончиться туалетная бумага, в противном случае вам придется пойти в рестораны, магазины или станции технического обслуживания и воспользоваться их туалетами, и они все бесплатны. У нас также есть переносные туалеты на специальных мероприятиях и парадах.🤠

Same here as in Sweden because I live in another European country and people’s living conditions are basically the same all over Europe with the exception of some countries who had to endure „socialist regimes guided by the big brother Soviet Union“, to put it mildly … But most of those countries handicapped for decades by these circumstances are catching up fast or even are on par already. Now as for those beautiful modern public toilets in Moscow, making the Russian capital outstanding again, even from the historical and cultivated capital St. Petersburg, it wouldn’t be surprising to find out that all these public toilets installed in Moscow during the last 2,5 years were most likely stolen in a neighbouring country invaded by those Muscovites … 😅 …

We are ahead of you :) Do you have free public transport on trains in Russia for students and pensioners? We do. But I'm glad that you are developing, even if it is only toilet paper-one step at a time, or roll of paper comrade :)

@@retkvi Completely free tube and bus rides all day long for students and retired people doesn't exist anywhere that I've heard of. At most, subsidized riding cards. Nice try, American (or whatever you are?) ;)

We had a toilet paper shortage here in 2020. People were panic buying and hoarding. Shelves were empty. I’m quite impressed with the WC you featured! Interesting topic Sergey!

You come up with very creative and original ideas for videos, how interesting to visit the public washrooms in Moscow! Brilliant! Here in Montreal Canada there is no such thing, because if there was, people would steal the toilet paper, the toilet seats amd probably the whole toilet bowl itself,. it's pretty sad but that's how people are around here. No respect for property. The public washrooms in the shopping centers are full of graffiti and people break open the box that holds the toilet paper. In the bus stations and restaurant washrooms they have special lights that are blue so people don't go in the washrooms to inject drugs and overdose in there. In some areas there are free portable toilets that you can use, but they are very nasty and disgusting,. usually full to the brim and have no toilet paper, it is very common that there is urine and shit on the floor of these portable toilets also, so the men use the alleys or bushes to go and the women try to ask if they can use the restaurant toilets. Basically here if you need to use a washroom in a public place it is a big problem and the experience is very horrible.

the soviet style public toilet i remember in leningrad was no urinal but one big trough with strong ammonia smell. but then again that one is moscow.

В Петрозаводске у набережной один подобный сортир заброшенный и полусгоревший, а в другом конюшня. У мэрии вроде ставили кабинки бесплатные, но никогда не видел, чтобы они работали.

Free public toilets in larger US cities are getting fewer and fewer. New York, Chicago, LA, etc. They’re struggling with homeless and druggies that use and abuse the public bathrooms. My last trip to New York City left me needing to use the bathroom at a fast-food restaurant but I had to buy something first in order to get access.

Yeah. When I studied in New York I once had an urge and couldn’t find the toilet. The fast food toilets were closed on a lock so you had to ask someone to open it. It’s my shame so I ended up doing it into the Gudzon river!

At least Russians respect and don’t graffiti and destroy like in USA/CWA. I remember when NYC subway had restrooms that were open in the stations but closed due to crime. This was long ago in 1960’s.

When I visited the Soviet Union in the mid '80s, I went into the bathroom near the Bronze Horseman statue (looked like a little yellow building), and it had just a bunch of stalls with no doors and just a hole in the floor instead of toilets, so I had to squat to pee. No toilet paper either. All women waiting in line I felt were staring at me while I was peeing. It was uncomfortable. Glad that has changed.

When I was in Moscow. During my visit. I was confused by the waste bins in the public toilets and in people's houses. They all seemed to be full of paper. Was it from people blowing their noses? Or do you not flush the paper after taking a crap like we do in my country. I didn't ask my Russian girlfriend what they are for. Cos it was kind of embarrassing! But I seen them in every bathroom I went in! I would like to know, so I don't mess up when I return to moscow. Because if you was meant to put the paper in the bins, I have felt guilty for months.

In the apartments people usually flush the paper 🧻. In these public places or cafes or shopping malls there bins so not to clog the pipe. So don’t worry it should be fine anyway. In Russia the pipes are wide. In Asia the pipes often blocks even without paper. Too narrow tubes.

@CrazyRussianSergey спасибо тебе, Сергей, I can feel less guilty about blocking the pipes. No one tells you when you visit Russia what the rules are on toilet paper. I had bad feelings I might have blocked the pipes. 🤣🤣. Yes in my country we have signs all over the public toilets telling Asians. Not to flush toys, food, towels, wipes down the туалет. Because they will just flush anything Because they don't care. Now I know next time I visit Moscow or Russia. What to do with the paper. Thanks again! )))
