Tanks used to be the most powerful weapon on the battlefield, but now they are sitting ducks. Drones and guided missiles have made them easy targets. I feel very sorry for the tank crews on both sides of the battle.
Quite agree! My grandad was a sergeant major in the Royal artilliary, tank division. He landed on gold beach on D-Day, they all had their roles and his was an important one. Yeah... It was russia who thought they could mach into Ukraine with 150.000 men and kilometer long tank corsos and take over the capital in days. They lost thousands of heavy equiment, many many men and no they are at a point of no return. Just what I had thought about Ukrainian forces getting deeper into Russian territory. Ukrainian troops will need more than troops going in there. They’ll need supplies and more equipment flowing in like water in order to keep Russians on their heels.

Doing that when a vital logistic hub of your army like Pokrovsk is about to fall is making Zelenskyy the top candidate for Darwin Award in this century. I believe they were hoping against hope to delay its capture. In addition, some analysts were speculating that it could have accomplished a destabilizing effect on the Russian government if sufficient territory in Kursk was captured and held, by forcing conscription and inciting a popular revolt against it. I think that was an extremely unlikely outcome but desperate times call for desperate actions. Hopefully, this colossal error will accelerate the end of the war for everyone's sake. Ukrainian advance was a way to get international support but sadly it was a one way trip for most of the troops with no way back so it's only normal most of this troops surrendered or face death on all sides.the troops were sacrifice for international brownie points.
