HEY YOU ABOUT TO POST SOMETHING STUPID:
Yes, I know my hands are large/fat. It's because of a heart condition I suffer from called Congestive Heart Failure. Here's a link to some information about CHF: cle.clinic/2TdS2Ux
One of the symptoms is that is causes fluid retention, mostly in the hands, feet/ankles, and face.
It will kill me one day. I'm doing ok right now, but someday...

Go for it man, funding RU-vid videos like you do is getting harder and harder. As long as you don't compromise what you believe in or sell out just tell the truth what's to lose and we all still get awesome informative videos.

Go for it! It funds what you want to do. As long as you disclose that it's a sponsored video, no one can have any complaints. Perhaps you could create these videos as a series with a theme running through them?
@Elfnetdesigns
@Elfnetdesigns 5 лет назад
There is ALWAYS "that guy" who calls people a sell out... so yeah there will be complaints which IMO is a projection of jealousy, How it works: The person complaining does not have a sucessful channel, or leads a boring / monotonus life, works a dead end job, whatever, and cannot make youtube money so they get bumhurt and call youtubers who are making money through sponsors sellouts.. It's literally that.

You deserve every cent. Go for it. For anyone interested in detailed transistor info check out the book vol 1 of Electronic Components by Charles Platt, it goes into detail if you like that sort of thing. I love to use NPN MOSFETs with AVR chips cuz its just easy. Basically...they are different flavors of magic.

in bjt case it's about 1.5W for lamp and 1.5W for bjt (emitter follower). Also mosfet had issues. Usually you connect loads to ground with bjt or mosfet to get best effiency.

I don’t see any reason not to try it out for a year! The promotional video terms look right for you, as you don’t make PCBs from scratch. A visible sticker or other PCBWAY product in the video and a sponsorship 🔌, seems OK to me. As long as your PCBWAY product evaluation stays independent, and you can tell it “how it is”, I don’t think it would be a conflict of interest. Go for it, try it for a year, most of us know how expensive it is keeping up with the ships arriving from China!

You should use a pull-down resistor on the gate. So the MOSFET doesn't stays on. Otherwise you have an floating pin and it turns randomly on and off when you have an electro magnetic field around you.

I say go for it. Check first, what happens if you have to miss a scheduled video for health/life reasons, or anything like that. But as long as you state the video is sponsored, I can't see it doing your credibility any harm at all. Sponsorship does not mean loss of creative control. And PCBWay seem to be fairly interested in the hobbyist market.

I don't mind sponsored videos. So long as you disclose it. Especially for your style of projects i think there is little issue of it getting shilly since most of your projects are open source. I am surprised how few projects videos across RU-vid are not prepackaged with a "here's the parts list, but we packaged all the parts you need in this box." For most of us we can't see the savings on components or time of finding a box of 100 for a penny per. Yet with a prepackaged plan we get the parts on the cheap without hours of hunting. And video creator can mark things up and make a scale profit. I enjoy your cheerful demeanor in the videos. Thank you!

Would a MOSFET also be the best choice for learning to build logic gates from transistors using the Uno for input and output?
@vidanatural_oficial
@vidanatural_oficial 5 лет назад
I usualy uses N-channel Mosfet em NPN BJT after the load, not before like you did. Of course you know, using in that way, the load will receive the power with a voltage drop caused by the internal resistense of transistors, the voltage drop incriase proporcional with more current. It is becose I don´t like to use in this way. Before the load, only P-Channel and PNP transistores. The new question is: Arduino and IGBT transistores, does it works? It will be a very nice subject to another video. Thank you.
@LimbaZero
@LimbaZero 5 лет назад
How did you connect that bjt. If that's 2n2222 or same pinout then you have emitter follower then you have about 5v CE voltage drop. So it will get very hot. Use base resistor and connect emitter to ground and load to collector. Edit: Also check what is Vge for used current with that fet. When using NPN or N channel mosfet as switch then use it to switch load to ground. if you want to switch VCC to certain device use P channel FET and NPN for controlling it. If this was bait then whole bait is now gone :)

That is awesome about the MOSFET. Once the gate is forward biased, you can remove the gate voltage and the source to drain to drain stays 'on'. And a BJT requires current to activate, AND stay flowing from the collector to the emitter. Total light bulb moment for me! Do the contract! I will kill to have a gig like that!

I say go for it and if you'd like some PCB ideas, I have a few I'd be happy to share. And money is good, all the better if it helps to keep the videos coming and more test gear showing up for review. As for the video topic, I prefer mosfets. It is a lot easier to provide a target voltage (for me) than to fiddle around with current driven devices such as BJT. At least for the task that I commonly use mosfets for and I have a nice selection of FETS that work well with my 3.3V devices. And for anyone using a MOSFET, I'd always recommend at least a 10K going from gate to source. I'd hate for some random cosmic rays to turn on the MOSFET at an inopportune time, or a careless touch of the FET while doing other stuff.
@jfgobin
@jfgobin 5 лет назад
Why are you using a common-collector/emitter-follower to switch? Given that the output of the Arduino is 5V and the supply 10V, your transistor is always guaranteed to dissipate a lot of power.

Good video. However I would think the #1 reason would be that MOSFET would allow you to run all 32 pins without any additional parts count besides the MOSFETs. You could do the same with BJT's, however in addition to the 32 BJT's, you'd also need 32x resistors or SIPs to BOM. Plus, you might still have to watch 100mw Arduino package limit depending upon how much current each BJT connected pin required.

You're right about the opinions of usage for either package. I'd rather go with the MOSFET too for reasons of easily controled power isolation from a fragile adjacent circuit. Contract.....I....don't know of course they'll monetize it. Question is can they monetize you better than you can do it yourself? I would get an attorney to check the contract for any loopholes that may exist, in order to capitalize your abilities over your existing you tube channel. They could be after what they may think you are capable of doing or creating for them, while in the process eliminating your claims of any personal creation associated with their channel. Then who knows, may be the best moment of your life. I hope the best for you. Just be careful and stress conscious for your health benefit. Keep in mind, any kick starting campaign's are extremely stressful! In case that may be what they're after.
@MrVosh-nj2lc

I agree. But what if something happens in which you are unable to fulfill the contract's specified videos? Will you have to forfeit monies to them? What penalties will you incur if you want out of the contract before the end of the contractural agreement? Perhaps an attorney's input may help you draft a counter proposal with the appropriate caveats. Aside from these points, I say go for it. You, of course, will then become a manufacturer's rep.

Hi Paul. Love your channel and the reason why is that the channel has professional integrity and you choose what you would like to show your subscribers. Now, if someone comes aling and offers you up to $6000 a year to promote their products to the exclusion of all otgers, then will your own independence be called into question - your professional integrity. You could try contacting the other PCB manufacturers, and stopping short if a dutch auction where the highest bidder wins, see what these companies would pay you NOT to go with one supplier. Iv you have the clout, and by that I mean you have a large enough following which means you have influence, then they should listen to what you say to them. At the end of the day, it is your choice but you are in a strong position as you hold all the cards. If you do take the contract, may J advise that you speak to a lawyer before signing andd ask the company behind the deal to pay for you to get this advice, just to keep you right. They should agree and I would also see if the consultancy fee is negotiable and try to get this payment increased. You don't agree on the first and only offer. Good luck and keep well. Mike

Im late to this discussion on whether to take the contract or not but here goes: DO IT!. Why not? you take the time to share your knowledge so why not get a few quid for it (UK, one quid = one pound: current exchange rate July 2020 one pound = to 1.27 dollars) :) Enjoy, we do.

Shut up and take the money! I think the contract offer speaks to the quality of your content! I am happy for you, dude! Keep up the good work!

If you are striving for low power use then MOSFET’s are the clear winner, just because they use zero current at the gate. I really only use BJT’s for oscillators any more. As for the sponsorship go for it. You could do some fun projects where viewers could order your board designs and build the same projects. I already have a few ideas but I’m sure I’m not the only one. Great video Paul, have a great week man and I am looking forward to hearing what you decide.

Hi, I think that commiting to something like this with constraints and conditions means that it may affect your creativity for future videos. I find your videos helpful in that they are balanced between those with a smattering of knowledge and those with very little knowledge of electronics, ie easy to understand. You never know what you may feel inspired to create in response to a specific question, so do you feel that you could be inhibited by this contract. You know in your own mind whether it's a good thing or not, maybe I just overthink everything.

Definitely go for it....as long as you maintain factual, real world informational videos, you cannot go wrong with your audience. At least, not this particular audience member.

I agree with the other guy´s here Paul - we are using PCB way, and they are easy and nice to work with, so why not make a buck when you can.... Also since it is very cheap to make a professional board today i think that many of the guy´s would have an interest to see how it´s done. - On the other hand you need to have a few videos including some design programs as well to be able to send the layers to PBCway :-), but go for it dude... 73´s /A (Sm7Hce)
