i have a 1939 good condition untouched just cheaned and clear coated, i have a 1944 was in horrid condition had to redo it in mahogany came out great i pretty much used the same method you did here to yours.
good work on the stock one tip I found works great is to thin the tru oil a little it goes further and thinner coats polish out better abuffer will work really well if you use a wood polish or meguirs at the finish
