Fellow Tulsan here. Your mister seems like a great option. THE BEST thing I have found to reduce mosquitos by 7/8 is stagnant water with "mosquito dunks" in them They are little doughnut things sold everywhere. Put them around bushes and on the side of the house leave 5 gallon buckets or decorative pots around the perimeter of your property with stagnant water. Add a mosquito dunk or half of one. They release a bacteria that the larva will eat, then they die! You are stopping the life cycle. I did it and didn't tell my neighbors who have a pool. They noticed the difference after I told them a week after. Now they are doing it as well. They can always come in from other places, but the more neighbors do it the better results. You are awesome. I don't want you to ever leave Tulsa!
Mosquito dunks are the BEST! I put them where water sits in my backyard ... when we get rain. Like you, I also use them indoors to get rid of fungus gnats.
I’ve got to send your comment to my son. Almost two years ago he was diagnosed with Leukemia and since then when a mosquito bites him, within a few hours he’ll have a huge bump, then a very nasty bloody blister and a trip to the ER and he’s generally admitted. A couple of months ago he had an opened wound that was about the size of a peach, quite deep and infected on his ankle. So far the sprays he’s used on himself haven’t been 100% effective, I ordered Avon Skin So Soft shower gel hopefully that will work for him. Who knew that I’d find an answer to prayers on Rebecca’s YT video! Thank you!
Hi Joeo, Actually, I did have the "mosquito dunks" on my list of suggestions made by you guys and in fact included them in my upgrades. Somehow that part didn't make it into the final edit but rest assured... I have them tucked all around my property. Thanks for bring them up. A totally great suggestion :-) RR
@@lolaottinger3038 The Original Skin So Soft Oil is the very best for keeping mosquitoes from biting. I've literally walked through swarms of mosquitoes and not had one bite.
@@nancylucas4231 I actually bought some sss gel from Amazon a couple of weeks ago, since he received it, he’s been hospitalized twice! He got out last Wednesday and was back in Saturday, I’m not sure he’s used it, I hate nagging him, he’s a grown man, but he needs to do all he can to protect himself. Mosquitoes were not attracted to him until he got Leukemia, so it’s some element in his blood that they really love.
My favorite part is when you all sat to eat! What a delight when the mission is accomplished ❤❤❤❤ Ms Robeson you are a heck of a lady 🥰 Colton and Anastasia were wonderful ♥️♥️
I admire you for being able to put in a mosquito killing system! In Texas, we've had cases of West Nile virus! One Of my clients years ago had West Nile and was extremely sick and hospitalized. Fortunately, her husband is a doctor and recognized the symptoms pretty quickly! Glad you're keeping safe! ❤
Isn't that crazy Michelle! I couldn't believe she gave me two different answers to the same question... I thought she would back me up... but NO! That little stinker! :-) RR
Glad to see your home isn't always RU-vid perfect all of the time! We can relate since we have a pool and big yard. After 2 years of much needed rain in So. California our yard was so overgrown! Every yard needs an annual spruce up! Great job as usual!!
Thank you Cathy. You are absolutely correct... my house is not ALWAYS camera ready. In fact, it seldom is. The amount of time and effort associated with being a homeowner... even a renter... well, it's a pretty full time job. That being said, my home is important to me. How it looks affects my mood and my outlook on life. Sounds weird but it's true. I suppose that's why I'm always working on something around here. I hope you find these videos helpful if not motivating as a reminder... It's a journey... not a destination. :-) RR
@@rebeccarobeson1 I absolutely find your videos motivating, educational and entertaining! I wish I could have met you when you were in San Diego. We are just up in Oceanside. I look forward to 12 noon on Thursdays! 💖🙏🏼
I haven't read thru the comments, so sorry if I'm repeating, but on the citronella plant, it only repells if you crush the leaves and rub them over your skin. The dryer sheets, same thing rub over your skin and then leave it hanging out over your pocket, shirt sleeve, bottom of leggings, the bosom area, etc...
I love me some Rebecca, and she has inspired me so much!! I'm a little worried about her weight loss...I so pray all is well. Either way she is definitely in my prayers. At a time when I wanted to give up, her videos were such a ray of hope and beauty. Thanks Ms. Rebecca! ❤️❤️
Hi vpowell, It brings me joy to know I've played a small roll in the different seasons of your life. Knowing that keeps me going. Can you imaging any TV show you enjoy... producing 52 episodes a year... plus an additional 8-12 in the month of November... It's an insane idea and a challenging reality for myself and my small team... but we do it because we know there are thousands of you who look forward to our next episode and will hopefully take away something of value that can make a difference in your life.. So... thank you for your prayers. They are felt and much appreciated... TRUST ME! As for my weight... Do not be concerned. I am very healthy. My weight loss is a choice... not a consequence. Much love, RR
I’m just here to see Colton Lol 😂, mosquitoes don’t really bother me where I live but as soon as I knew Colton was helping you out, I just had to eventually come and watch Lol 😂. Cheers Rebecca to having a mosquito free zone outside. ❤️❤️❤️🤩🤩
I keep dryer sheets in all my storage containers even containers I keep in a outside storage building all year and when I open them there as clean as if they had been inside all year, no unwanted bugs or spiders!
I do the same even in my drawers, shoes (especially tennis shoes it takes the smell away), boxes, plastic containers, shelves, etc I put them everywhere and no moths, bugs, spiders, nothing, I also heard but haven’t tried it, if you rubbed on you the mosquitoes will not bite you.
I laughed at the Bounce sheet idea. That was a big thing here a couple years ago. We were told to rub them all over your clothes (that you’re wearing) also rub down your furniture cushions etc. everyday. 😳🙄 I live in northwest Tennessee and while I can’t speak for other folks, the only thing the sheets did for me was gave me a headache and nausea just from smelling them. Didn’t deter the flying blood suckers at all!😂 I haven’t tried planting peppermint or spearmint in pots but have tried that in essential oils, couldn’t honestly say that helped either. Word of caution if you do plant these two, keep them in pots. In ground planting they are very invasive and hard to kill out.
Your backyard looks lovely Rebecca. We had trouble with mosquitos and ended up using a stand fan to blow them away from us and it worked beautifully! We have it oscillating as well.
The good lord certainly has an artistic eye. Well done, Rebecca. We have been in our home for 41 years, yet we are not done with projects . Never stop investing in anything you do. Have not seen or heard of your friend and housekeeper or her family. I hope all is well. Enjoy the gifts and the warmth of the light today as tomorrow's may not be so giving. Love and faith are your beacons.
Those plants are all good choices, and they smell nice. I have all of those in my garden and they do work. (Also, I am so excited to see you in August! I bought my ticket after your video announcement.)
THAT MAKES ME SMILE!!! I'm so excited to meet you and share a lifetime of Christmas decorations with you guys. It will be a bitter sweet weekend for me that's for sure! But knowing my treasures will end up in your homes will definitely be the best part... along with meeting so many of you. SEE YOU IN AUGUST :-) RR
Can Colton help me with my backyard?!! 💪🏻 Love your solar tiki torches. I ordered some after you had previously showed them on one of your vlogs. My husband was a bit skeptical but after he put them out, we absolutely LOVE them!!! 🔥 They add so much interest to our landscaping! Love you Rebecca-you are a brilliant designer/decorator and can always make me smile!😊❤
Just a tip. In order to avoid cushions and other delicate outdoor items to be destroyed during winter, in a place with seasons, it really helps to store those things inside, if you have enough space, before winter starts. It will help you not need to replace everything each year. No « outdoor » fabric, including umbrella fabric, is truly fit to withstand all seasons. Take it from someone who has preserved a lot of outdoor stuff through many winters 😊.
I hope you found some good potting soil. So many companies have a mixture that’s heavy in chips rather than peat, and doesn’t retain the water very well. I find I have to water well, much more often. I 💗 all the changes you made! Looks great-inspiring!
You are welcome Melanie. I'm glad you've got our upload schedule dialed in. The first 48 hours from time of upload is crucial for the RU-vid algorithms so we appreciate you watching faithfully! :-) RR
Fantastic! Rebecca! I Love It. I would like to see more decorating ideas out doors and how to create a welcoming outdoor living space! for all seasons . I have been craving it since you and your son did His patio! You have such good taste in friends too! Anastasia and Colton ! Beauty and Brawn! great team work! just sayin!
Great job, everyone!!! Yard maintenance is not much fun when weather damage is involved, much less mosquito and insect control. Love the colors, the plants, and the general layout of your spaces. Enjoy, enjoy!
Rebecca you’re hilarious and I always love watching your videos while I do my last min chores at night once my kid is in bed. I just wish they were longer because your bubbly personality is so contagious ❤
Looks fantastic 🙌🏻 I agree about pinching a baked potato 🥔 🙌🏻💖 Drill two holes in the candle lanterns and sprinkle some mosquito bits where any standing water might sit. Like around your pond or in it when it’s not running. And in your potted plants. You can water with them too by soaking them in a watering can in a stocking. Help with Fungus gnats inside and out too
good job as always becca🎉🎉 enjoy it❤❤ well..in my country 🇬🇷🇬🇷 το καλυτερο φυτο για διωξιμο κουνουπιων ειναι ο βασιλικος που μοσχοβολα σε καθε αγγιγμα κ 1 κολπο ειναι να βαζεις σε αλουμινοχαρτο λιγο καφε κ να τον καις😊😊 η μυρωδια κ ο καπνος τα διωχνει❤❤ kisseeees..
Your outdoor area is so gorgeous! Happy you are able to enjoy it more now without so many bothersome bugs. Thankful here in WA state we don't deal with mosquitoes quite as much.
Get a good Polaris pool cleaner & it will last longer than any robot one. (This according to my talented pool guy.) You'll be able to have it serviced in off-season. Ours is going on 13+ years! Also - rats, rabbits & squirrels are all drawn to electrical cords in the south. It is a problem. Aside from all that...thank you so much for putting your videos out. I look forward to them!
Add used coffee grounds on top of your plant soil and the squirrels will leave them alone. The mosquitoes also do not like the smell of coffee. If your blood type is O+ that would explain why the mosquitoes like you so much. I've also been told to burn dried coffee grounds like incense to keep the bugs away.
That’s interesting about the coffee grinds. I’ll try that. We live in N Florida moving from S Florida and I’ve never come across such quantities of mosquitos like it is up here in N FL. It’s incredible how bad they are and it’s year round! Oh I’m O+ and mosquitos don’t really snack on me but then again, I’m not generally sweet enough.
Omg can I borrow Colton , does he know how to do handy work like flooring or tiles? Seriously, amazing and fun video. I laughed and thought “ hey Rebecca, please have Colten help with Christmas decorating!
@@rebeccarobeson1 Hi Rebecca! Oh I wish I could. I would have to fly in from NY! 😞 I love so many of your Christmas things especially the deer! I actually ordered from Sarah’s store and even spoke to Sarah over the phone. I ordered from your collection via amber Marie as well. Wish I could buy a few things that I love and had my eye on but I understand shipping may be a problem. Love you lots and thank you from my heart for your glorious Christmas videos. Anna.
Sailrite sells a clear tape to repair your umbrella fabric! It is used for marine sails, boat cover repairs etc. Not cheap but works and waterproof and cheaper than new umbrella!
Google is wrong. Whenever you repot a plant or put one in the ground you should always, always water it in to settle the soil and make sure there are no air pockets around the roots. Anyone who garrdens will tell you this. Next time you're at a garden center - a real one, not a big box store - ask the master gardener on staff. He will corroborate my assertion. And, in the Oklahoma heat, you'll need to water some of those plants at least once a day, if not twice. I know this because I live in N Texas. The heat is brutal. Backyard looks great! ~ Lisa P.S. Get some Mosquito Dunks to keep standing water from supporting the growth of mosquito larvae. Amazon has 20-count packs that should last you all summer.
If you want a tree height plant you can stack a smaller pot in the middle of the large one. Plant the tall lemongrass in the top one and mint or oregano around the base.
@@vanessaherron5203 actually… yes… I was trying to get the chlorine bobble out of the way when… unfortunately, I fell in the pool 🤦🏼♀️ I was more concerned with the very expensive microphone clipped to my shirt than myself. Good news, I was ok… bad news… I’ve got to tell my CPA… we need a new microphone 🫣 RR
