Got sick of waiting on ObXidian nozzles for my Revo and picked up a Mosquito for $99.00 on sale direct from Slice. When I saw it for $50.off, I could t resist! i can tell people, it’s amazing in-hand, the quality of the parts is so evident when you handle any of the Slice products, I am now a fan.

It looks expensive, it is expensive and it FEELS expensive! :) I was SO impressed when I took mine out of the package. Annealing the HTPLA printed parts to mod my Prusa Mini right now.

I believe the boron nitride is also an anti-seize, so you can use that for the heater and thermistor screws.

Hi, what's the weight of heat block without the heatsink? I wonder
@xxiinsanexx
@xxiinsanexx 5 лет назад
You talked about a titanium heat break but also talk about the nozzle making contact with copper on the mosquito. Can you help clarify? Or is the heat break copper plated right at the end (near nozzle)
@ravenous14
@ravenous14 4 года назад
The heater block is copper and it also butts up to the copper that holds the heat break. It's also not titanium, it's stainless, not sure if Nero just misspoke or was misinformed.

I think that the name 'Mosquito' stems from the surgical steel tube similar to a real mosquito's proboscis. And if Slice patented this, they could eventually block TL's Dragon and other copycats. Am looking forward to my Voron build! Thanks for all the info you've posted!!! =)

Is a mosquito style hotend capable of heating and pushing enough material out of a 0,6mm nozzle? Was really looking forward to buying a clone from trianglelabs but wasn‘t sure if my 0,6mm stainless steel nozzle would hold up

Just finished watching the carrot feeder streams and you mentioned having the mosquitos on the shelf? Why are all of your mosquitos on the shelf now after this great review? Did i miss something?
@CanuckCreator
@CanuckCreator 2 года назад
Because this review is old? And things that perform as well or better with less headache came out.
@davidgriggs7556

So nothing wrong with it? I purchased one after watching this and haven’t been able to finish my bifold and use it yet.
@CanuckCreator
@CanuckCreator 2 года назад
@@davidgriggs7556 nothing "wrong" per se As someone who builds printers often. The boron nitride paste became annoying to work with. And depending on the mounting solution the orientation of the heater block can melt ducts. The two i had were standard flow variants. One was replaced by a high flow hotend in a larger machine. The other eas replaced with a e3d Revo beta unit. My other machines had hotends that swapping to a skeeter would really offer any major advantage. Thus. On the shelf for now

would the crimped shrink wrapped thermistors work if you cut off the shrinkwrap? or should I just get eht e3d thermistor?
@CanuckCreator

If you take a look at the e3d thermistor, or slice thermistor, thats how it has to look to work

I have a question for you. I want to mount this hot end on Cr10s. May i reach the high temperature like over 350 c°?
@CanuckCreator
@CanuckCreator 5 лет назад
please read the documentation from slice engineering www.sliceengineering.com/shop/the-mosquito-hotend The hotend is rated up to 450c and they have links to different adapters for several different printers on their site.

@chloemcholoe3280

so stupidly expensive tho... a genuine e3d v6 is far cheaper. if anything breaks you have to spend another 150$~ :| for e3d v6 a heatbreak is only 19$ 205$~ with the heater and thermostat NO THANKS my printer is 220$ EDIT: wait you can get replacements? 60$ for heatblock
@CanuckCreator
@CanuckCreator 5 лет назад
ya...all the parts are replaceable and available through slice or their re-sellers.... Also, the mosquito isn't really meant for the 200 dollar printer market IMO, printers in that price range wont really push a standard v6 as is. However on higher speed printers, like the voron, there is noticable improvements.
