Only in this game can a casual activity like moss farming become a stress inducing attempt to avoid a Lovecratian nightmare made partly from human souls
Sculk is made from it eating experience orbs, but also there's soul lanterns and soul torches everywhere, implying a sculk/soul connection separately from the experience/soul connection @@darthseverus89
@@darthseverus89 So, if you look in the Warden’s chest, there are three souls that you can see pulsing every time its “heart” beats. Also, since the skulk catalyst uses the death of mobs, a lot of which are undead versions of once living humanoids (like Steve) to create more skulk, it’s safe to assume that the Warden is comprised at least partly of human souls. When the catalyst activates, it has an animation similar to what you see when you run on soul sand with the soul speed enchantment. A soul rises from it and disappears. Except the catalyst puts that energy directly into creating more skulk and, I assume, powering the Warden.
Allay 1: "Hey, ya know where boss is gonna take us today? Just got a bad feeling this morning" Allay 2: "Just moss mining, E-A-S-Y" Allay 3: "Yeah, George, calm down. It's not like us fighting those pillagers!" Allay 4: "Yeah, or, like a Warden, ya know?" Relax dude!"
I like that you used Allays! They are truly underutilized. I actually found few interesting uses to them. For example, they collect seeds that sniffers find - instead of using laggy hoppers or super loud minecarts. The other use was when I needed to collect insane amount of mangrove leaves, they helped me a lot when I basically destroyed the mangrove. So I am happy to see others using them as well!
To add onto this, they're amazing for Ice farms! All I have to do is mine the ice with Silk Touch, then they just put it into a hopper for me. It's great!
Mojang did a good job on balancing the Allay. They are really handy in certain situations. Exellent wheat collectors when working together with farmers that have inventories full of seeds.
@@nisseheim4996 That's what I like! There are a lot of uses, but it seems that people don't really try to see it. Other thing that I found useful is to put Allays inside the farms that sometimes drop items outside of the collection system so then those farms can actually became really lossless. Maybe people don't use it as much because Allays are a little bit hard to find (depends on the luck tbh)
Tip for anyone who wants to mine out a chunk for any reason (other than by the "official" "Punch-A-Chunk" rules): Use a beacon for the stone layers, and don't start in mountains. For one, beacon-mining is much faster in stone than the moss method. And secondly, the higher your starting terrain is, the more Deep Dark biome you will end up having to mine through, always risking random shrieker activations. Remember: Pix is a professional. Don't try this at home! ;-)
*Digs down from the highest peak of Stony Peaks Biome* *Finds Deep Dark biome* Surprised Pikachu face *Finds Ancient City* Another surprised Pikachu face I mean, it's almost a certainty to find a city below Stony Peaks. Not to mention Deep Dark. We found dozens of cities with my brother, drilling down countless peaks and mountains. We had really bad luck finding the silence trim which is why we did it. 😂 It was super fun, though. We had Wardens disabled for sanity's sake. Sometimes it took a long time to hunt down an Ancient City, but drilling down from the highest point drops you into the city quite often. It's not that rare, actually. Just to let anyone know if they want to find more of them without going to caving for hours.
Yeah, the best way to find an ancient city is to look under a mountain. Even Pix has said so in this guide. He then went looking for the tallest peak, so it's not surprising at all that he found one! 🤣🤣
Your next project should be skulk mining into a lush cave. You build a very powerful mob farm over a chunk, then place a skulk catalyst in the middle of each layer, mining the layers of skulk lower and lower.
Digging under mountains is the best way to find ancient cities so it doesn’t surprise me you dropped in on one. That deleted chunk could come in handy for a quick elytra escape if necessary while exploring the city though.
I started a new world and made house farm etc then started mining down a staircase to get to bottom and I’m at about -36 and I mined the next stair level down all of a sudden heard a scream and almost crapped my pants and then lost vision. Mind you I’m in a two by tunnel digging a staircase down and haven’t seen any sculk. I immediately ran back to the surface and made a sign for other people to not mine the next block or the warden will show up. First time that ever happened to me and it was so scary!!
Another great video, I always enjoy your survival guides. I love allays, they are so useful and definitely one of the best mobs added to the game. I did a similar lush fairy cave to store my allays in boats. I often use large caves to create all my moss blocks and azalea, so I don't affect my landscaping and builds on the surface. I'm starting to feel like the travelling trader is actually some kind of undead that's stalking me. No matter how many times I kill him, he always reincarnates and appears behind me.
What an amazing episode! I am so happy to find an ancient city while moss mining, it made the episode for adventurous and thrilling. And it also lasted longer 😏. Great video Pixl, keep up the good work ❤
This is amazing. This type of activity automatically added to my bucket list of todo and want to experience. Heheh I'm new to this game. So I haven't experience much. As of now I'm enjoying playing early basic things in minecraft. But I already have a lot of knowledge what you can do in minecraft since everyday I watch YT videos all related to minecraft. I love playing minecraft 😁
Too bad that wasn't a slime Chunk. You could have killed two birds with one stone and gotten the most tedious part of making a Slime Farm done as a byproduct of your moss mining demonstration.
Maybe I should try the moss mining in a chunk and I'll see if I have your luck with finding an ancient city lol. The game wants you to do an ancient city raid 😂
On mining, I had a world where I had 3 ancient cities and a drip stone cave under my base, where I decided to set up a mine, that started on top of a tall hill.
Guys I have a question. Can Ancient City spawn under a hills bioms? I noticed in my world sculk generating under those, but no Ancient City. Unfortunately, I never saw actual mountains biomes in this world xd
I remember Cub specifically looking for higher mountains to find ancient cities. And any generation with a sheer drop or obvious world generated biome change with high sheer cliffs when looting Ancient Cities. Very interesting ore generation video. Especially where nothing generated. Thank you Pix❤
*Doesn’t want to explore the ancient city this episode so flies somewhere else *Mines a chunk to bedrock for demonstration purposes *Finds ANOTHER ancient city Well, I think the game wants you to raid the city next episode, I’m looking forward to it
I was inspired to try moss mining after your video and ended up in Ancient city as well! I showed my finds to the server and we all took turns dying there while being spectated from the dig. Got to say I love loosing all my OP gear in new and creative ways. Thank you for all your amazing content.
In your intro, you should change the 'survival guide' section that is copper to some of the new copper blocks that are being added. Dunno. I just thought it would look cool.
Lucky...not only did you hit Deep Dark *and* Ancient City, but you hit it at just the right point that you only had to deal with the one shrieker block the whole trip.
Thanks for the tip of flying elytra with allays on leashes. So far I have been using the boat method, I ride the boat and let them fly behind me (without a leash), they can keep up with the speed of the boat.
Using moss on the trail ruins might’ve displaced some of the suspicious gravel that’s waiting to fall inside a structure. Some of the blocks generate with nothing supporting them. Plus half of it was underwater 😅
