It could've worked! The mono nature of the ST would've cut the ADSR release on the lead though. A minor detail, but it seemed important at the time :D

I am into more melodic stuff, and I have little knowledge on chord theory so I'd say Digitone. It is easier for me to take on musicmaking by ear.. But if you know your chords, which is sort of demanded by the Syntakt's chord machine, the Syntakt is better!
